The reason the magnesium doesnt start on fire is because magnesium when not in a large mass is extremely flammable where as when its grouped together like in that giant block it becomes insanely more difficult for it to spark and especially catch on fire. i used to work in a factory where they created a variety of things out of magnesium so yeah the more you know!
And damn dangerous LI-Ion batteries(all manufacturers use them, it doesn't make them any safer). Cause what can go wrong if your phone burns at 1000C :)
Lithium doesn't fire that quickly unless improperly fitted, constructed or used by an idiot. I have over 10 10280 batteries here. A ton of lithium. Never caught on fire. Just don't drop the voltage below 2.80v or charging above 4.20v and make sure batteries have an ventcap
