People who dont like tattoos always go on about, 'oh but when your old they wont look good', yet every older person I see with tattoos looks absolutely badass
A lot of old people now were getting great tattoos in that time period. Maybe they weren't the biggest and best but they were done right. It will be interesting to see how some tattoos age in another 30-40 years because a lot of people are getting really bad work.
Also your skin will look old saggy and have wrinkles regardless if you have tattoos or not. Plus these days tattoo equipment is a lot better than back in the early days so they age better.

i agree 100%. The Ed Hardy brand always came over as a wannabe Versace to me.. too much glam on a tee. Then I see this, and he's like the most super down-to-earth chilled dude lol..
That was my take away too. I was totally ignorant to him as an artist I thought of him as an over top clothing brand worn by middle aged douches but god I was wrong. He such a legit intelligent artist that is humble yet passionate about art. I was so wrong.

It wasn’t until l got older that l found out that he was a tattoo artist as well as an author of several books and magazines and what have you. He’s such a humble man and his work will live on forever!
Sailor Jerry deserves more recognition than Hardy does. He had more to do with it than Hardy ever did. Sorta like how they say 'Abner Doubleday invented baseball' he actually didn't. Other people did. He just happens to be the face of it. You could say the same about Ed. Ed isn't the godfather. He seems to be the one chosen as the face of "modern tattooing" or whatever they say.
It blows my mind that it use to be a come in an pick a picture off the wall and that's what you get...I have given my general ideas to my artists I've had and we play of each others ideas to make an original piece..so thankful for people like Ed that made that an option for my time!

I doubt that majority of people who wore or wanted his clothes back in the early 2000s have any idea who he is, or that he is an artist and did tattoos. The girls I went to school with had no idea who Ed Hardy was..just that it was cute and they wanted his clothes...because Paris Hilton was wearing it.

If you don't look to the details but keep the confusion from far it's intriguing. What an incredible sensation as an artist it must be to be a tattoo artist, completely different from anything else, the responsability of that needle going into skin for life man, for those like him who dedicated their life to it, it must be something truly special. And being such a complete artist too not just tattooing.

I went to Tattoo City, met him, and was the nicest guy you could ever meet. Just flat out loves art and tattoos. He is a historian and an innovator.
