Some really great advice here! Scouting before the trip is a big advantage
Hard balance for sure , probably experience to find the balance of aggressive or passive hunting on a trip like that
Bottom line here if anyone is looking outta state, learn mapping lotta E Scouting find the overlooked places get some boots on the ground in the area in spring, if you can’t then trust your woodsmanship , and have plan
A,B,C D E F G … another thing here is
plan to scout a day or two before the
hunt plan a 7 day hunt and hunt 4 till
you find a target. And have fun doing that.
I love the turkey season strategy for scouting. Everything still looks the same as it did in October and November as far as scrapes, rubs, trails, etc. I've found a ton of valuable deer sign while chasing gobblers around in the woods.
