There's a difference between smashing keys between langlang and normal people, he is at the top of his game and we are not. When you reach professional level of playing and have full control of the piano, it all comes down to how one interprets the piece, you would have to research how the composer felt when writing this piece, and i think what langlang played was how he perceived the information he got. If you think he is show offing then go ahead and think otherwise because that's what he feels right now. Everyone has a different emotion in every age. Langlang style will change while he ages just like any musician. So instead of hating it, why not enjoy it while it is still infront of you
John Smith How else would you play it? Playing with just the 2-3 finger wouldn’t create the same dynamics and you might even cramp up practicing. It’s much more efficient to do what Lang Lang is doing
@John Smith the only problems you're presenting is that those 2 measures are so disrespectful just because it's inhumanly fast that the only argument you present yourself with is the fact that you wouldn't play it in a music store. I've presented all valid arguments to those statements, so at this point I really don't know what you're problem is, and at this point I really don't care. How in hell could a piece like "La Campanella" move one to tears? Something like Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise", I could see. But this shallow showpiece by Liszt?
Smiling throughout this or ANY piece makes him look like a jerk - - a clever jerk, though. He's "working" that face (my god - - have you seen his other videos?) for all it's worth, to endear himself to his viewers, and to persuade them that he's - - [wait for it] - - ENJOYING himself. This is what nearly every commenter says: "It's wonderful how he shows so much joy as he plays", as if all those dozens of other pianists out there are suffering in abject misery as they play. Some day, when Lang's face becomes less cute and less cuddly-looking, the smiles (and his fans?) may start to dwindle, and he may have to morph into a serious, dignified, respectable professional. Horrors!
When I first saw this video, I thought "he'll probably play it 2 times as fast and murder the piece". But I was pleasantly surprised! Goes to show that you don't have to play a piece twice as fast in order to show that you are a maestro.
That’s a sick level of emotion. I think st some points its just flowing out of him electrical signal spasms to his fingers. It literally looks like Ultra Instinct. La Langanella
Well, imo this might be overinterpretated, but when you think about it- he is having so much fun with one of the hardest pieces of music; plays with so much passion and yeah, doesn't give a shit- this is what makes it incredible.
Again with the 'emotion' thing! Look - - there's emotion in, out of 100's of examples, such works as Beethoven's "Appassionata" and "Les Adieux" piano sonatas. But in "La Campanella"? None that can be 'named' as such.

I love Lang Lang's Passion and interpretation... He gives life to all his renditions.
AWESOME!!!! No one plays with your enthusiasm and feeling....Thank you for sharing such talent. YOU ARE AMAZING!
I love watching the lady who is admiringly smiling with ecstasy and appreciation behind the pianist as if he played what she liked him to.
The way he portrayed this piece really moved me...made my cry on how beautiful it was!
my tear down too...i see a golden heart of a child.
How in hell could a piece like "La Campanella" move one to tears? Something like Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise", I could see. But this shallow showpiece by Liszt?
He smiling throughout the whole piece, he really puts his soul into it
Smiling throughout this or ANY piece makes him look like a jerk - - a clever jerk, though. Horrors!
The violinists reactions are so funny.
2:27 the girl smiled.. u know what i meann
xD
My mind was trying not to even go there...
Oh noo plea please xD
she wants to get destroyed like those 2 keys did

One of my favorites!
It is not just playing the piano, but playing the art.
Bravo!!!
It's like he's having an intimate roller-coaster of a conversation with the grand piano itself.
Such a maestro, he is. 👏❤️
When I first saw this video, I thought "he'll probably play it 2 times as fast and murder the piece". But I was pleasantly surprised! Goes to show that you don't have to play a piece twice as fast in order to show that you are a maestro.
2:40 the female violinist was considering taking up piano lessons
*fuck, should've learned the piano instead*
This is the best intepretation I've ever heard! Lang Lang really played with passion!
you're right, only yuja can play better this
You can tell how much respect the other members of the orchestra have for him just by the way they look at him
Some of them, yes. But I'll bet anything that more of them can't stand the sight of him.
I really like his style of piano how the light notes and hard notes its really emotionally satisfying
audience: Langlang Play La campanella.
paino (sweating): Please No. Not him.
paino
That’s a sick level of emotion. I think st some points its just flowing out of him electrical signal spasms to his fingers. It literally looks like Ultra Instinct.
La Langanella
This just might be my favorite interpretation of this piece. Such mastery, much emotion. If only there was a clean recording......
What do you mean - - "emotion"? What sort of emotion could this showpiece possibly project?
Well, imo this might be overinterpretated, but when you think about it- he is having so much fun with one of the hardest pieces of music; plays with so much passion and yeah, doesn't give a shit- this is what makes it incredible.
Love how Dudamel is just smiling to himself in the back, probably happy from a long concerto
I want to see Lang Lang play on the organ in the background.
Oh kettles of hell !
Me too
He cannot play the organ!! The piano is much different than an organ
Wow, Davic, you had the very best seat in the concert. Thank you for sharing this very exciting and passionate performance.
That almost boy-ish joy coming from Lang Lang whenever he plays is just so freaking cool.
Ain't it, though?
3:58 my most favorite part of this piece.
Lang lang really show how a master pianist really is whith those emotions
Again with the 'emotion' thing! Look - - there's emotion in, out of 100's of examples, such works as Beethoven's "Appassionata" and "Les Adieux" piano sonatas. But in "La Campanella"? None that can be 'named' as such.
The best interpretation after watching many other versions and dozens of time. Exciting, nice development from start to finish like reading a book. Complete mastery of the piano.
