I love this video
How to cut glass wearing a tie
5:48 "blunt cutting angle of 158 degree", mmmm, on free hand +- 0.5 degree
This guy should make more videos
Big Frank is a *LEGEND!!!*
This gentleman is using high end glass tools I could only dream about .
Meanwhile I still employ the hammer and chisel method for chase/ running the glass.
I'm going to listen to this video near bed time from now on.
So is this the first ASMR ?
This video was very interesting and informative! Thank you so much!
That is VERY impressive, I cut glass for display cases frequently, and this is by far the most adept cut I've ever seen.
I do glass also but thats was the thickest glass I have ever seen. I usually order the thick stuff precut, let the big companies eat waste
@@ZipSnipe You still pay for that waste ;P
Smoooth cut!
And this is so wonderfully German! :D
Thanks now I can steal artifacts from a museum
Well, if you can reach both sides of the glass why not just grab it anyways :P
Edit: I didn't even realize how old this comment was, whoops
I started in 1971 when I was 14, the apprenticeship was 7 years then. I turn the piece over on the bench and try to press or tap on the back of the cut to open it, then run it round with a hardwood 'pusher' or the handle of a cutter.
So long as the initial opening of the cut is dead square it can make a 90d edge all round, leaving very little to polish or ariss out.
One cut to the edge, then spring the cullet out like a circlip and lift it away .
AmAziNg.. That was a serious chunk of glass.. This is not their first rodeo :O) Thank you for the video.
Is it weird that Ive been watching this video every so often for a decade?
Nice cutting sir
Ok, As the foremost circle cutter in our shop I use a different method when it comes to breaking (opening) the initial score. Depending on the size of the piece I'm cutting I prefer to flip the piece over and apply firm pressure directly over the score line on our carpeted table. This way the break originates directly form the score line and does not run towards the score line from wherever the impact tool(as shown in this video) strikes the glass. You can see a degree of wavering in the edge of the piece as he is using the glass tapper 4:11 After the entire circle has been "opened" I flip the sheet over again and open (break) the circle again using the same method from the scored side. Same method to remove the off-cuts after that.
+RickBo,
This is exactly how I do it at the shop too.
RickBo in my shop, my cutter personnel just impacts the glass below the score line with a motor valve (very precise personnel), the proceeds to slightly bend the glass to make the separation run along with the score. No wavering whatsoever.
I do the same. No need for all those extra gadgets
sounds interesting but (as a totally novice) I can't quite imagine everything you're describing...any chance of uploading a video of how you do it?
@@perspectivex unfortunately not, it's been a few years since my glass shop shut down. We had a carpet topped table; supports the glass with just a little give. just like this video use a circle cutter to score the top side, then pull to an edge and pivot the glass to vertical on the table edge and flip it around then lay it down again. Then press with your thumb directly over the score line and the glass will crack from score line to the now top-side. Once it's opened (or cracked) all the way around, flip it again and repeat to ensure it's opened all the way through. Then it's just a matter of cutting the excess off.
Hey Presto... now, that's real magic!
Outstanding demo!
Excellent technique. Excellent video. Thank you!
This is great. Awesome video. Thank you
I enjoyed that watching that, thanks for sharing
excellent video, very informative. thankyou. cheers from Michael Australia.
That's awesome!!
Well I don't care what others say!! That was one hell of a professional job...yikes 19mm clean cut circle, GOOD JOB!!
10 - 15 Kg. of cutting pressure is more than I would have expected was needed. Thank you for an excellent tutorial!
If an American could afford these tools I'd be amazed.
Yet this is the best method I've seen.
MUY BUEN TUTORIAL .buena herrmienta , lo incomodo la corbata. saludos
score creates a weak point in the glass to promote a crack. most fragile part of the run are where the circle is closest to the edge of the glass plate. The least clean portions of the run are start and end . Start the circle near a corner. Then "iffiest" portion of your run is farthest from the edge of the glass plate. Breaks form to relieve tension. plate glass has a tension gradient lowest is at edge. The farther the edge the smaller the tension gradient near your line.
Good Job, Thanks for the view.
Amazing!
I don't know how I got here and I don't know how I just watched this full video....lol. so satisfying
So good!
clap clap! bravo!
Who needs protective equipment when you have a pair of glasses and decades of experience? :D
Awesome video and description, I never knew this is how to break glass properly.
Only un-skilled waste their time like this clown did
Magnificent! Will the kit allow one to accomplish straight lights in the same fashion!?
Wonderful My Friend i like for you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
cảm ơn đã chia sẻ những kinh nghiệm cắt tuyệt vời
nice job!
And all while wearing a tie...
Very Impressive!
outstanding!!!
Beautiful cuting
cool video.
Great tool.
very good work
Wooow I love this
Fascinating, captivating video. I wonder how many attempts had the manufacturers to go through before getting the most reliable method.
Always a pleasure to watch a professional at work.
Perfect Mr White :) sayy myyy naaame
Danke,Deutschland !!
Nice
you aqui Brasil ✌
Very nice
Very very nice
Freakin brilliant. Wonder how many pieces he broke before he learned that?
Seems like the variable of the tapper can be interesting are there settings on the tool like say a torch wrench may have? When you mention the outer surface being perfect I see waves in the edge of the cut. It seems it would be smoother like seen on a good square cut.
+Lew Sou torch wrench lol.... torque
LOL When I worked for my Dad he was in the glass and mirror business plus custom picture framing. He freaked me out taking a hand crank drill and a drill bit and drilling through 1/4 inch mirror using kerosene. That hooked me on machine type work . I got good with large mirrors and glass using a hand diamond wheel cutter. I was used to cuts on my hands and worked hard for him. Like your setup very much. We had a oval manual mat cutter to cut the oval matting for around pictures. I did every aspect of the biz less accounting before 17. Accounting was Mom's job and we stayed away from her money! LOL
John a torch anything might be a lot more fun than a silly worn out torx or even a torque wrench anyway. I remember the Wizzard of Oz when I think the witch held up something on fire and asked the scarecrow "You want a little FIRE Scarecrow"? LOL
Impressive.
cool!
Thanks
Yezz ,yezzz. My cup noddles is done !
can it through bulletproof glass like that from the mona lisa?
Onde consigo comprar esse equipamento? Será q vende aqui no Brasil?
Very good
someone buying this equipment would probably be using it for their own small business.
would you be able to display how to sacrificing the center piece while saving the outside which was sacrificed in this clip. that would be very useful. Thanks in advance.
Gotta love that German ingenuity
not bad pretty cool :)
I was watching shoulder's work out before I learned how to cut glass
nice. :)
Woww...it great....where the product come from...
Thank to this video I can finally pronounce zilbernich
nice..
So can I do this on a window mission impossible style and remove the glass circle from the window using a plunger or something?
somngfghsßsssssßsssssssgfguiifgjihhojghhhhbbjmmm GB j
"final tapping needs to be done from the both sides" and sides need to be pulled away to release the peace, not to mention such glass in high security areas would be laminated glass (though spurting alcohol spree to cut and setting it fire will melt the film, but if its 3 layer laminated glass there is still middle section that you cant cut)
Essentially answer is no, you cant do it, its just hollywood film magic. Only high power laser would be able to do this, or glass would need to be extremely thin and those places you can get with walking in from the front door..
Just like every one else you misunderstood the video. It is not about cutting hole in the glass but cutting a circular piece of glass, and the difference is very big.Holes or any shapes are usually cut out of a sheet of glass with waterjet. It cuts a couple of mill out of the glass and that is how you can pull out the what ever shape you are cutting.
Dustoe McDust absolutely not
for the booth sides problem you could build a hammertool which strikes away from the glas (sucking impulse)
I'm amazed how the glass breaks perpendicular to the surface that was scored.
path of least resistance ma niggaaa
Yes I know that. But that statement comes after the fact. We know it's the path of least resistance but can you tell me which way it was going to break by pretending you didn't know what was going to happen? That is, what makes a path the least resistive in glass?
+Jason Axford The path of least resistance is typically the shortest one. And the shortest line to the opposite side of the score is a perfectly perpendicular one. Other factors can influence the path of the break such as placement of the pressure or tool used to open it in relation to the initial score; or quality or defects in the glass.
Now that's much better than "ma niggaaa". Thank you RickBo.
quero saber se já tem no Brasil e onde posso comprar
Saludos amigo nesecito adquirir la pistola de fracturar vidrio grueso
Good style Round cutting
Devi Glass welcome to see our glass machine working video , it is easy to cut that round for 2mm to 12mm thickness glass
good job really
nice
nice how much indian pries
Still looking for that mission impossible style cutter
@ MA KA if I'm correct this is more of a controller break rather then a cut. I'm sure there are better methods to cutting glass but they are trying to achieve a certain texture.
+Robert Cano well, you're right, but as far as glass cutting theory: you can't "cut" glass. Glass breaks, and what we call glass cutting is, in fact, careful and controlled breaking. The method of Scoring, then either applying pressure or a sharp impact or shock is what is used to "cut" glass down to requested sizes.
ahhh, no
I want to know how careful you have to be when sanding the cut sharp edges smooth and see it done because I have a project I'm working on now with 1/4" glass that I need to finish soon.
Be lot careful
I didn't hear him say, but I think the 1st pass w/ the tapper was done w/ the score still facing up. Is that correct?
Where do i buy these tools
