My school was right at the corner of my house,..so I got to watch mostly all of Garfield Goose in the morning,..hahaha,...It was really great to be a kid in the 60's and 70's, with little responsibility and great Chicago kid's T.V.
I hear ya. Lived near midway airport, went to Alexander Fleming School. Watched Garfield Goose and Frazier Thomas, Ray Rayner. Now at 61 I know I had the best childhood Clutch Cargo!
The opening and cartoons at WGN at the time were all on film. This must be part of their broadcast library. One projector gives the opening and had Clutch Cargoes cued up for the week. And I've never seen the original opening as perfect as that.
No, but they did show Clutch Cargo, The Funny Company, Journey To The Beginning of Time, and Hercules. I loved the show but its cartoons and shorts were terrible, except for the Christmas season pixiilation animation called "Hardrock, Coco, and Joe".
WOW, "Clutch Cargo" it's been a long time. Just want to say THANK YOU, for this site. If you don't have childhood memory's of this show you won't get it. It's corny as hell but, that what we like. Give it a chance just laugh at the corny shit.
Clutch Cargo. A very strange and surreal cartoon.I was afraid to watch it as a kid because it scared me. But I seen the episodes when they were newly released. Gee, I feel old. lol
yep! This was long before the Max Headroom incident took place which was 16 years later on another TV station running a "Dr. Who" episode where it was interrupted by a Max Headroom character such as "That does it, he's a freaking nerd! I think I'm better than Chuck Swirsky, freaking liberal!" or some sort of silly things like "Catch the wave!", "Your love is fading!", "I still see the 'X'", "I just made a masterpiece for all the greatest world newspaper nerds!", "My brother is wearing the other one, but it's dirty!", "But he put footprint on it!", "They're coming to get me!" and "Bend over b****!" and then it goes back to "Dr. Who".
Couldn't stand Clutch Cargo or Scott McCloud. Nothing moved except their lips. I also hated those Spunky and Tadpole cartoons. I never quite knew what kind of animal Tadpole was supposed to be. :o
I always hated having time to watch only one more segment on Garfield Goose before running to the school bus. I always hope they'd run Journey to the Beginning of Time before I had to leave, and half the time it was "Shit, Clutch F*ing Cargo." I didn't really put it that way, but still.
I see that many comments mention that this was on in the morning. But I could swear that when I watched it c. '64 to '70, it was on AFTER school, around 3:00 p.m. Am I wrong? Or was it moved to the a.m. in the 70s?
I wonder why Spinners parents never objected to Clutch taking their kid all over the country in a plane. If you ask me terrible parents but Clutch Cargo was why I watched the show.
It was a sweet time post wwii I was born in 1955. 10 years after Hitler went kaput. I remember trick or treating with most of the houses in my neighborhood with gold stars in the window. A very patriotic time. What a difference to the murder holes out there now
Did this show also had an episode of “Tennessee Tuxedo”? I guess so. Here is an episode from “Garfield Goose & Friends” as it was shown back in the 1970’s. ruclips.net/video/LsVEFvZaiDk/видео.html
The fanfare was, I think, from Disney. Frazier added it to Ethel Smith’s “Monkey On A String”. Ever heard the tune in the clear? Here’s the whole thing … ruclips.net/video/ljGsokAWnSU/видео.html
I did not know that Frazier Thomas created and produced this; Which means he put up the money for Gar', bozo, family classics. He split the financing of Ray Raynor with Raynor. Good to see this honest family man get his back. M. Elgin IL.
Are you basing your assumptions on a title? you realize a producer in television is different than a producer in for instance the movie business or a Broadway show. just because he held the title of producer or co-producer does not mean he held a financial interest in the property. in my understanding such a relationship would be extraordinary in those times. Do you have any other citation for this claim?
I think the correct answer is... 'yes'. Spinner is a boy so boys can identify with him, Spinner is a girl so all the girls can identify with her. The androgynous nature of Spinner means more than 50% of the viewers can identify with the child character. Makes it more popular, so more people watch it.
LOVED this show as a child. Thank you for posting. BTW, those lips were weirdly fascinating.

Wonderful memories, grew up with Garfield and Family Classics. Loved Clutch Cargo!
dabbieist great times I living in Lagrange in the early 70s. Bj and the dirty dragon show in weld was a favourite and of course bozo.
Childhood memories. Those were the days.
Loved this as a child
Thank you for posting. Great childhood memories!
The first 12 seconds are pure TV i. d. bliss!

@@Musicradio77Network Sounds appropriate, doesn't it. What I can recall of the show, no.

I’m hard rock I’m coco and (deep voice) I’m Joe! Lol memories
Just amazing! I haven't seen this since I five years old! tHanks!

I always loved Clutch Cargo. The episodes tied within each other on each edition of Garfield Goose just like Rocky & Bullwinkle.
Aww clutch and spinner. What a hoot. M. Elgin. IL
Clutch Cargo. A very strange and surreal cartoon.I was afraid to watch it as a kid because it scared me. But I seen the episodes when they were newly released. Gee, I feel old. lol
Yeah I thought it was pretty creepy when I was a kid
Great memories. I loved Garfield and the other puppets. But I tuned out whenever Clutch Cargo came on!

+HowToDoStuffWatchHre : You have exquisite taste, Ma'am. 'Clutch Cargo' shoulda been filmed on nitrate so they'd all be disintegrated by now. Ew.
Couldn't stand Clutch Cargo or Scott McCloud. Nothing moved except their lips. I also hated those Spunky and Tadpole cartoons. I never quite knew what kind of animal Tadpole was supposed to be. :o
Max Headroom looked like a computer generated version of former Today Show host Jack Lescoulie. Remember him? ☺
I wanted Journey to the Beginning of Time; didn't like Clutch Cargo or his pals Spinner and Paddlefoot.
I loved this show
When i was a child clutch lips scared the f outta me
“Clutch Cargo” always gave me the creeps. Still does.
Especially for the Infamous Max Headroom incident of course. "Catch the Wave!"
Clutch is a little creepy, but at least he's not a pedophile. That much is pretty clear.
It's the mouths.
"I still see the X"
I want this music played at my wake, and I will shop around until I find an accommodating funeral home that will.
@rwlwrestlingleague2975 In case you didn't know the tune is "Monkey on a String" from Ethel Smiths LP album "Bright and Breezy"
I Loved this Show
Incredible and triple-double incredible but very groovy good job!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Clutch's lipstick is on point
Loved Garfield goose
I have several dvds of clutch cargo I saw them online at walmart they brought back so many memories me and my cousins watching Garfield Goose
Always wondered what the Garfield Goose theme music was. Still do. So many different sounds and effects and all of it so happy.
Read the video description - answer is there.
Bueno, creo que soy el unico latino aqui, por ahora,y me gustaba mucho esta serie, cuantos recuerdos!!

Oh ! the memories.
After All These Years Clutch Cargo Voice Sounds Like Scott McCloud Space Angel.
Aha, a very good documentary about the oil embargo of the 1970s.
Why are so many "creeped out" by Clutch Cargo?
That is the correct music for the WGN ID.
They had several but this was my favorite
I love this show..
"Clutch Cargo" was sorta creepy after all these years, reminds me of the Max Headroom incident of 1987 "I still see the 'X'".
MTN Productions CC was supposed to have been created by a man whose son was deaf and could only read lips.
i wish someone would come up with a tape of chicago bandstand with dave hull.......
"Garfield-goose is on the air featuring garefield the goose".
Lots of memories!!!!!
"The following program is brought to you in living-color on cfcf-tv channel-12 (ind) scranton millerville hazleton williamsport".

This where I learned about french horns from the very opening.
What french horns? That was a trumpet
Garfield Goose would make a better King of the United States than the one we have now. Of course, he would need Frazier Thomas' careful guidance.
Thanks for politicizing A SIXTY YEAR OLD CARTOON. Your line life must be a horrible nightmare of hatred. I'm very sorry for you.
Talk about cliff-hangers!
Clutch Cargo really was short lived
Grew up watching Clutch Cargo and still think he's cool!
Yeah somebody said 1971 clutch started in the late 50s I believe. I was watching it before grade school in 1961
It was a sweet time post wwii I was born in 1955. 10 years after Hitler went kaput. I remember trick or treating with most of the houses in my neighborhood with gold stars in the window. A very patriotic time. What a difference to the murder holes out there now
Clutch? Who names their children after car parts?
real mouths on cartoons characters were eerie looking

What is the name of the theme song?
Charles Keller. The theme song is "Monkey on a String". Part of Ethel Smith's LP titled Bright and Breezy.
@@Allen-ps6bx man. she can play a mean organ
Anyone know the name of the opening organ music for Garfield Goose & Friends? Written for the show?
Whoops. Pays to read all the comments.....
Where's the goose? I want my goose.
Clutch Cargo was the future - Ever watch conan - probably not sheila
GARFIELD IS A FAT CAT NOT A STUPID MUTT
1971 is right.
Is spinner a boy or a girl?

Spinner is called a boy at 7:21, but the lipstick and voice makes it iffy
Speed racer
I could never watch this because I had to start walking to school just as it started.
