I believe that Christmas in Montreal is my favorite JLEW TRAVEL Christmas video. St Joseph Oratory was unbelievable with Creche's from all over the world. I truly enjoyed watching it and will probably watch it over and over.
We have a lot of Christmas videos so we think it’s hard to pick a favorite! We were similarly impressed with St. Joseph’s. We didn’t know what to expect but loved seeing the different nativities. Thanks for the video love!
Merry Christmas from Montreal! We loved exploring the Christmas markets and activities throughout Montreal. We are already thinking about next year's adventure. Do you have a favorite Christmas market? If so, put your vote in the comments below so we know what should be on our list!
Kudos to the excellent camerawork considering how cold it must have been! Everything appears so magically festive - the main street and little side street resplendent with all those white lights just scream Christmas! Warm spiced cider and hot beer on a cold (almost) winter’s night - could nothing be better. The Light Installations, Lumin, look beautiful with all those dancing changing colors surrounded by all that snow! The Christmas Markets must have been wonderful, especially with your Strasbourg connection, and even more especially with all those complimentary samples of French cheese - Mais Oui! - may we have some more cheese?! Al Fresco Christmas choirs and Traveling Christmas Mice Puppets - what a brilliant way of providing a sense of place and culture. And those chocolates at 10:04 at Marché Atwater are the reason to visit Village de Noël - and to watch Jon discover the joy of nougat, as prepared in Montreal. Such a coup to have you both visit Santa at the same time - very impressive, especially with the Polaroid picture evidence (Do they still make Polaroid cameras?)! St. Joseph’s Oratory looks stunning - I have only seen the outside, and that was during St. John Paul II’s visit to Montreal in 1984: now that was a memorable moment when he addressed the very enthusiastic crowds outside the basilica. Thank you for taking us inside, and for showing that glorious tryptic crèche scene - the quintessential embodiment of place and culture - and for letting us all know about the crèche museum display: worth every penny and definitely a way to embrace the holiday spirit. Next Christmas Market…? My vote goes to Nuremburg Christkindlesmarkt - all that Lebkuchen! Merry Christmas!
We LOVED Montreal and its Christmas markets. We (read Andrea) had been talking about going back to Strasbourg for a while and since it’s so close to Germany, it would be easy to add Nuremberg to the list. We have heard great things about their gingerbread treats. The mice puppets were probably our least favorite. They presented far creepier than intended especially when you aren’t expecting to see life-sized mice moving around the streets! And we almost didn’t go to St. Joseph’s since we knew we wanted to visited Notre Dame but Andrea mother mentioned it and it was a clear winner. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
Totally agree. Strasbourg has a special place in our hearts, but there are so many Christmas markets in Europe so maybe we should hit up a few in the region?
