    *Jamaicans* are the first to open *Juice Bars* and now they're everywhere.

      @@drewski1441 No it wasn't a few years before *Hip Hop, it was much longer.
      The first rapper was *Count Machuki* He originated a deejay style in 1954, that was later developed by artists such as U-Roy, and which eventually led to rap.
      Throughout the 1960's *Count Machuki* and *King Stitt* would dominate *Dancehall* with their rhyming, until *U-Roy* took it to another level from the mid 60's onward. His masterpiece *Wake The Town and tell the people* became the benchmark for what would become *Hip Hop* which was created by *Jamaican-born Clive Kool Herc Campbell* who had migrated to the bronx with his parents. *Kool Herc* father was a sound system operator prior to migrating and from this *Hip Hop* was born. The entire culture of *Hip Hop* came from the *Jamaican Sound System Cultures* which started with *Charlie Wong* sound called *Sébastien* in the mid 1940's.
      Most of earlier rappers of *Hip Hop* were either *JAMAICAN-BORN* or of *Jamaican parentage* hence the similarities of the genres.....🤔

American blacks are the real originators Hip hip. motown. Soul R&B there culture is very influence through out the world. I'm not ignorant. How I'm I ignorant you said Jamaicans are trend setters of the world. I don't see anyone copying Jamaicans. Only people from other Carribbean countries yes. Everything she said about Rasta's educating the world on health or the world on black pride, example, embracing your natural hair and your blackness, I been saying to my students. I grew up in Guyana amongst the Rastafarian community, hands down they're one of the brightest, cleanest and progressive communities in many island nations. They were preaching Italism before America and the world started talking veganism, lifestyles. Love this documentary. She allowed them to speak to their Rastafarian culture and all of what they celebrate all around the topic of food. Make me want to put on some Burning Spear! Smiles

      But your the same person who in another string of comments said that Jamaicans take credit for everything or “over reach” among other statements. Fun fact, Rastafari was started in Jamaica but Guyana, other islands and other people across the world have adapted it. (And that’s awesome, that’s the ultimate goal of Rasta ) But you can’t be an advocate for Rastas and preach hate sis 🤷🏾‍♀️. Let’s all educate one another on REAL facts and not promote or be apart of hate and problems.

But, I am not from Jamaica as you know by now, and I know all about Rasta culture so when I talk about Rastafarian culture I am referring to my own experience, and that lends itself to all Rastafarians world wide and indeed Jamaica. Btw some would argue that Rastafarianism was not started in Jamaica, and was actually practiced in midieval times as well. Not sure how true it is but I've seen arguments around it, and they substantiated it with research. Again, not arguing either way, I am not certain. But, the debate is out there.

    I'm speechless. I don't even know what to say! Irina, this has got to be your BEST video to date! You have taught us and shown us things about Jamaica that we've never heard before, never even knew existed!
    I've known about Rastas, seen them here and there, but never met or knew one before. So my knowledge of all things Rastafarian is admittedly based on the prejudice passed down in my family. Thank you for this very important lesson!!
    I wonder if the Jamaica Tourist Board's aware of this channel? They need to make you a Tourist Ambassador for Jamaica, because you've educated Jamaicans as well as the world about Jamaica, more than the JTB has ever done over their lifespan. This is serious, I think we really need to make the relevant ministry aware of all the work you do on behalf of Jamaica. This is better than advertising - it's EDUCATION!

      @eileenwatt8283 3 года назад +5

      @@decijohn6855 Define rastafarian as you know them. I bet we have 2 different definition. There are people who claim to be rastafarians because they have dread locks and smoke weed and walk around saying "jah rastafari" yet they eat meat that's a fashionable rasta. I'm talking spiritual rastafarians who mind their own business and not committing crime. They are in the mountains chilling off their land, planting their crops , being self sufficient, not chasing material wealth and respecting woman. They may have couple but they not mistreating them or killing people. They are rational thinkers not hot headed like the criminals who can't resolve conflicts except with weapons.

    • @decijohn6855
      @decijohn6855 3 года назад

      @@eileenwatt8283 So define Christianity, or any other religions. In every religion, or organizations you will find people in that religion or organization who are deviants, but they are still rastas. And it is no different in Rastafariandom. You are probably a young person, but believe me, your attempt to define Rastafarianisim is no different from those who were around in the sixties and seventies. The truth is that no one knows what is Rastafarianism. Where is the Rasta text? The people who conjured up the idea of rastaism didn't write down anything as to what rasta is. Some even say Haile Selassie of Ethiopia is God. Haile Selassie told rastas that he is not God, he even said that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is his God. So don't bother to talk about definition, because nobody knows what is Rastafarianism. Blessings anyway

    The fruit is sometimes called an avocado pear or alligator pear (due to its shape and the rough green skin of some cultivars).
    The Aztecs called it the fertility fruit. Legend has it that an early English description of “avocado” called it the “avogado pear,” leading to the misunderstanding of “alligator pear.” The fact that the shell of the fruit looks vaguely crocodilian doesn't hurt.
    Jamaicans cut in short and say pear.

    I love how they explained how they work so well together as a couple and business partners they basically described the harmony and balance of their own inner harmony of feminine and masculine energies they exude individually and between them such a perfect example I appreciated this presentation 🙏🏾❤️

    I'm not rastafarian but grew up eating like that because it was accessible in our backyard. It was considered "poor people food". I Instill eat that way. How wrong people were.

    🇯🇲 Another one of your very diverse & revealing sub-culture videos.
    As a Jamaican, was very proud of how the brethren & sistren artfully & intellectually explained their concepts......were not bugged down in Rasta & colloquial circular reasonings; leaving more questions than answers and head-scratchings.
    Noticed how the sistren explained the class differences as a " mind ting." It's not by chance they're self-employed.
    Good job again Irene!!

But I will also save it for future reference, such a delightful, beautiful and amazingly intelligent couple. I do hope to see more highlights on them and their sweet and authentic establishment. Will make it a point to visit their restaurant in the future. So happy to have Nobonezone team as new family members 💖💕💝🇯🇲🌶♨️🍈Bless up♨️🌶🍈🌶🇯🇲♨️🌶🍈🌶🇯🇲♨️💕
