I don't think you understood my issue with the anti-Ock suit. It's not a canonicity issue, it's an emotional/thematic one. The anti-ock suit, unlike the other suits you compared it to, was created for a very specific purpose. Part of what made the suit work was that purpose, to defeat Doc Ock by unifying both halves of Peter Parker/Spider-man. So divorced from that purpose in this game, I personally feel like the suit's inclusion is unnecessary. And yeah, I know that some people don't care about any of that and see it only as a cosmetic thing. Which is fair. But when looking at it purely as a cosmetic option, I don't like it that much. Like I said in the video, I think the spider arms not changing to fit the suit is a missed opportunity. And I still feel like the Big Time suit would have been a better inclusion, as that was another black suit with lights that had (in my opinion) a better design. But I agree with pretty much everything else you said. And thank you for watching the video, and for leaving time stamps to the sections you were responding to! That made it very convenient to check what you were referring to. I wish more of my commenters did that.
25:38 Blend shapes are a common technique in 3d that allows you to deform and blend a model from one pose to another, making it look more organic. That's the way Insomniac incorporated realistic muscle deformation in their Spider-man games since MM. The first game didn't had that. Because the Advanced Suit 1.0 model is this game is pretty much a copy and paste from the first one (even though the colors look even more off!) the suit never had blend shapes in mind to begin with, which makes it look more rigid in every pose it does. Try to do the perch pose with both Advanced suits and pay attention to his back muscles, you'll see what I mean.
i think the darker blue spots on the advanced 2 suit are fine because in my mind they are looser parts of the suits as they are on the elbows and knees as well as the front and back of the legs allowing him to move easier although i think it looks a tad weird i think thag if you think of it like that it helps you look at it more
@@DoritoGOD2811 I just didn’t understand that part, your lack of connection to the character and not liking the suits bc of that made a ton sense to me. But a costume made for toys, that briefly appears in the 3rd film and is impractical and silly as an idea like you said isn’t just as hated let alone MORE hated than the rest I don’t get. I would think that it would apply ten fold to this cheap, void of personality, meaningless, dull, stupid, briefly appeared suit.
@@tovpp7 Yeah idk, I guess I just think the design is a little more interesting than MCU Spider-Man's other stuff. Cuz his other stuff is: several variations of the classic suit, a botched version of the Iron Spider, a cheap home made suit, and a very boring tactical outfit. So compared to those, the black and gold's design is a bit more creative to me. The reasons for its existence are undeniably stupid, but within a different context I could see the suit working. And I also think people talk about it like it's the worst thing to ever exist, which is maybe a bit too far. In the grand scheme of things, I don't find it to be any more offensive than any of MCU Spider-Man's other suits. Maybe it's the fact that I already don't like him that makes me not that upset by it... But I still never wear it, and I don't think it should have even been in this game.
Kinda sucks Peter doesn’t have a true tokusatsu inspired suit in this game. And I don’t meant the one from the first game since that was more anime than toku. Either add the Toei Spider-Man suit and give it color references to Kamen Rider V3 (they had a crossover) and Leopardon, or create a whole new suit that draws upon either Showa or early Heisei era Kamen Rider designs
as an artist I obviously know the difference between colors and you are right that is orange. Like if I were to draw it 1-1 accurate I’d use orange and shade with reds. But I, along with probably anyone who’s drawn the suit wouldn’t do that. Most art I’ve seen of the advanced suit just uses a shade of red.
It's odd because under certain lighting, it looks redish-pink, while it looks orange in others. For example, in the cover of the first game, the E3 footage, the Mr Negative zones, and some indoor sections such as the research stations have it appear as red, but it's orange in the sunlight. Apparently, it's related to Insomniac using a yellow or orange sun than a white one, so it's giving off the wrong type of lighting.
49:46 I like this suit recolor. Not because it's good. But just because i think it's so ridiculous, and the pink color really stands out, that it gives me a smile when i where it. and it reminds me of Barbie. So i wear this suit somtimes just to goof around with it, while the Barbie song is playing in my head. LoL
I believe the reason for the "piss pants" spot, is that the fabric there is supposed to be a more breathable type of fabric. Since the groin area tends to get hot, and probably because spidey doesn't want swamp-ass, he has those spots.
I've heard this once or twice and it's always stuck with me. When designing a comic book characters suit (or superheroes in general tbf) the design needs to be made in a way where it's both visually interesting AND easy to redraw in multiple consecutive panels by many artists. The classic Spider-Man suit is absolutely perfect in that regard. The only variable feature of his classic suit is the webbing but that's a pattern that on a 3d model would be flawless, and most artists can work out the consistency. I'm not a good artist, I won't claim to be anything special, but almost every Spider-Man/Spider-Woman suit I've ever designed in my free time has simple features that compliment eachother and are easy to redraw. Also a MAJOR thing is maintaining only 2-3 colours, 1 dominant colour, 1 secondary colour and 1 accent colour. The dominant colour being red in the classic suit, it takes up the important places, the secondary colour being blue as it frames the primary colour, and the accent colour being black as the webbing, eyes and front logo (and any bordering between the colours if you're being fancy) So many damn suits fail the balance of simplicity and appealing aesthetics. They're either appealing conceptually but are way too complex or are so simple there's nothing visually interesting to even be appealing. Insomniac have done a great job with certain suits, mainly in the first 2 games, Miles and Peter's original games suits mostly balance the aesthetics, relative simplicity and a dash of realistic material work/seemlines to really sell the visuals of each suit, but damn they really missed the point of almost every suit here
pretty sure the subreddit would agree with you, they were non-stop bitching about the 2.0 suit's differences when it was fully revealed like the spider-man fans they are even though the colours are way better
The lenses of the 2.0 look less good than the 1.0 for me. Also maybe it’s just me, but the 1.0 made Peter look a lot more experienced and bold while the 2.0 made him feel less experienced and more amateur which is fitting as he was heavily nerfed in this game.
@@abhinavgandham4883 The 2.0 lenses/headshape are from Classic Suit Yeah, the 1.0 is more padded, which gives the impression of being stronger, while the 2.0 is slimmer. Even the white spider in 2.0 doesn't seem to be as protective as the one in 1.0.
@@LeonardoSilva-xm8ft The biggest problem I have with the lenses of the 2.0 is that that it always looks like he is squinting and not in his natural eye position. Maybe that’s just me but it’s something that always bothered me.
This comment made me realize how similar Flipside and Web-Man are. Both evil artificial copies of Spider-Man with inverted color schemes. Kinda makes me wonder if he was made as a reference to Web-Man.
FINALLY!!! At 1:04:00 he talks about the suit not working as an inside out suit. It’s not. There are layers to the suit. The outer red and black portions are kind of like a pillowcase. The red and black portions go OVER the wired part, while there is a protective layer BEHIND the wired parts. We see this in Homecoming when Pete and Ned are working on his suit in the hotel room. The suit looked pulled off of the wired part, not folded over it. So no, the Black and Gold suit is not inside out. It physically could not work like that
people talk about this literally all the time, whenever the suit is discussed, at any point in time, because it hardly ever gets talked about because it sucks (so people say the same things over and over again).
39:00 dude! I thought I was the only freak that thinks like that! Otto would never have messy webs, the guy is a perfectionist, I specially hated that with the Superior Venom suit (shame they didn't added that one considering they added both Tobey suits)
I actually really like the advanced suit from the first game. My only issue was the colour scheme. I prefer the first suit over the 2.0. There were just some weird choices made with the 2.0 but I still do like it.
While I disagree with some of the takes, I do still think this was a good video. Some of the losers in this comment section are getting way too intolerant over funny spider guy spandex.
I agree, some takes can upset me sometimes but seeing different takes on suits can lead me to re-examine myself and notice elements I wouldn't have otherwise. I can abandon my bias and come to my own conclusions on how it could be improved.
31:50 I'm so used to seeing this suit with a belt in the TASM game that i forgot that it didn't have it in the movie and how weird it looks without it, at least in my eyes.
56:04 Okay, I like most of your takes (aside from your orange v red criticisms, maybe my eyes are just different to yours and I don't see it as bad) but the blue on the hands is *sexy as hell* in my opinion. My favorite Spider-Man suits are ones like Spider-UK and House of M where they're not "blue suits" like 2099 or F4, but they have a greater majority blue than red. My ideal suit is just red chest, red mask, red shoulders, blue everything else. Blue hands are *sexy.*
Hey! spider-man here. i liked the video, but i will say when you're whipping around buildings and slinging webs at the speeds i am, drinks don't tend to stay in your stomach
I know, and it really comes off as annoyingly biased when he speaks on the final swing suit, which is by far the most comic accurate Spider-Man suit ever brought to screen, also disregarding the massive changes that movie did to bring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man more in line with the comics
One thing I don't particularly like is that the OC suits also aren't canon / canon-adjacent suits. I really liked suits like the armoured advanced suit and velocity suit because they told a story about this version of Spider-Man. Instead of all these "What if Spider-Man were dressed like the villain" suits, I'd much prefer a selection of suits that Spider-Man created to take down specific villains. I know suits like Anti-Ock are hyper niche specifically because of that context, but I still appreciate and respect the implied storytelling more than a Kraven or Wraith crossover suit that I'm not going to even consider wearing anyway.
I feel like the anti-venom suit looks a lot like that one scene from TASM when dr connors first uses the lizard formula and his hand regenerates and it looks really wierd
47:52 Fun fact: this suit has a custom wingsuit. Or I guess just wings? It replaces the webwing design with a more mechanical wing looking one that springs out of the backpack. It even changes depending on what color variant you have equiped.
One thing that I hope Insomniac does (they probably won't) is to add an option to use the different colored mechanical arms from the Superior Spider-Man skin on any suit. It'll still be out of place, yes but at least they can match with most of the color schemes on Peter's suits.
I am very happy I found your youtube channel last year when it comes to designs and what we find cool or good we agree on some and disagree on more but I think that's important so I wish you good luck and wish to see your opinions on more superhero games
@@superjlk_9538 The problem is that they put alot of unnecessary suits like for example his advanced suit 2.0 has a yellow variant which is trash and unnecessary
Coming in here to say I think your take on the final swing suit is misplaced. Everyone complains about the over-designed superhero suits that the MCU popularized, and I think this suit is a return to those simple designs. I also think the silky parts make it really pop out. I don't like the character either-I've hated Tom Holland's Spidey since I saw Homecoming in theaters-but this suit is definitely a top 3 live-action suit we've ever gotten.
The fact that this was recorded with Spidey standing on a fan is giving me anxiety. I can’t place my foot on the drain of the shower because it feels weird so this is killing me lol
I like that you sort of respect the Apunkalyptic suit, which is the only one of the Deluxe that I genuinely was looking forward to using. I love the outfit, but I probably would've done without the hair and chosen a different eye set - it was supposed to be a Spider-Man with Apocalyptic look mixed with Spider-Man, augmented with his skill with engineering and mechanics. (Some people say it's Spider-Man meets Mad Max). Also the attention to detail you gave to looking at the Raimi suits is great, my other top favorites. 👍
Yeah I def agree on the Apunkalyptic suit. Like a lot of things with Insomniac, it's too "clean". It's less Mad Max, and more like Mildly Irritated Max.
Can we all agree about overdesigning: 1. *It's one of the worst & most uninspiring tropes in character designing* 2. It does NOT make the costumes look realistic, Just boring
That’s why I hate the advanced suit so much. Especially since the “classic” suit from the first game looks good. Should’ve just been Spider-Man’s go to for the entire game.
No, the blue of the Final Swing suit actually is straight up green. It's also way too dark. In the movie it's a light sky blue, but they for some reason made it a dark aqua in the game. It shouldn't look like that during every time of day other than night and overcast. Also the red is very orange, especially when standing down on the streets
44:14 the ps4 big time suit is my favorite spider-man suit of all time so I get how you feel but I appreciate at least having the green version of this suit to somewhat resemble that one.
Dude, woke up in the morning and absolutely despises anything that has the color orange in it, orange fans are in shambles. In all seriousness good video >:]
I feel like a bunch of the suits, like Dorito said in his game review video, that the suits feels a bit overdesigned. It really is telling that comic artists coming up with sleek and simple designs so it'll be easier to draw repeatedly are so much better than the game costumes feeling so busy they lose why people liked them in the first place.
3:58 I think you may have overlooked one thing: parrying. Since you can now parry in this game, the developers probably added that so he would have better hand protection when pairing bladed attacks. If he tried to parry one of the Hunter's blade attacks with the Advanced 1.0 design, at best the blade would have cut into his arm, at worst Peter wouldn't have a hand anymore.
He doesn't even use his arms to parry? The mech arms/symbiote does that for him. I mean, he does that when you do a normal block, but you take damage when doing that so they can't be that protective.
I really love the Anti-venom variation for the Insomniac Black Suit. I actually played that towards the end instead of the actual one. It's just so cool
Really agree with everything you said in this game, except for the campaign black suits (I really love them, the organic one more so than the armored carapace one) but I’d love be to see you go over the Arkham Batman games’ suits
Something I found strange is that the new blue suit seems to use the mcu suits as a base. The body and eyes match the mcu suits and not the insomniac ones
Here's my thoughts on Petey's fits in Spider-Man 2 (PS5). What did you think of his costumes?

Because the Advanced Suit 1.0 model is this game is pretty much a copy and paste from the first one (even though the colors look even more off!) the suit never had blend shapes in mind to begin with, which makes it look more rigid in every pose it does.
Try to do the perch pose with both Advanced suits and pay attention to his back muscles, you'll see what I mean.
Thank you for the concise explanation!
@@DoritoGOD2811 Anytime.
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING UP THE SHOES ON THE RED/BLACK ADVANCED SUIT NOT EVEN PSM MENTIONED THAT
Yoooo, a psm enjoyer
i think the darker blue spots on the advanced 2 suit are fine because in my mind they are looser parts of the suits as they are on the elbows and knees as well as the front and back of the legs allowing him to move easier although i think it looks a tad weird i think thag if you think of it like that it helps you look at it more
Ik he just explained why but I’ll still never wrap my head around the guy who hates MCU Spider Man who somehow fws with the black and gold suit.
Eh, i don't fw it that much, I just don't hate it as much as others do.
Can't wait for the reaction to the evolved suit
bro this guy makes me so angry he complains about fucking everything
with the final swing suit since when youre in Kraven missions the lighting is yellow its going to make that blue look VERY green
Shattered dimensions did the 2099 suit the best. You should cover that game's suits honestly.
Watching Spider-Man's ass for hour and a half. Peak content.

I like this suit recolor.
Not because it's good.
But just because i think it's so ridiculous, and the pink color really stands out, that it gives me a smile when i where it.
and it reminds me of Barbie.
So i wear this suit somtimes just to goof around with it, while the Barbie song is playing in my head. LoL
White modern black suit looking like a cookies and cream candy bar
The dominant colour being red in the classic suit, it takes up the important places, the secondary colour being blue as it frames the primary colour, and the accent colour being black as the webbing, eyes and front logo (and any bordering between the colours if you're being fancy)
So many damn suits fail the balance of simplicity and appealing aesthetics. They're either appealing conceptually but are way too complex or are so simple there's nothing visually interesting to even be appealing.
Insomniac have done a great job with certain suits, mainly in the first 2 games, Miles and Peter's original games suits mostly balance the aesthetics, relative simplicity and a dash of realistic material work/seemlines to really sell the visuals of each suit, but damn they really missed the point of almost every suit here
I think I'm the only one who prefers the first advanced suit
But yeah, I agree that the colors of advanced 2.0 are way better
pretty sure the subreddit would agree with you, they were non-stop bitching about the 2.0 suit's differences when it was fully revealed like the spider-man fans they are even though the colours are way better
The lenses of the 2.0 look less good than the 1.0 for me. Also maybe it’s just me, but the 1.0 made Peter look a lot more experienced and bold while the 2.0 made him feel less experienced and more amateur which is fitting as he was heavily nerfed in this game.
@@abhinavgandham4883 The 2.0 lenses/headshape are from Classic Suit
Yeah, the 1.0 is more padded, which gives the impression of being stronger, while the 2.0 is slimmer.
@@abhinavgandham4883 SAME lol
27:06 That's Flipside. Turns out not a lot of people know abt that one. But that's def what it is.
That actually makes a lot of sense.
Still doesn't look good.
This comment made me realize how similar Flipside and Web-Man are. Both evil artificial copies of Spider-Man with inverted color schemes. Kinda makes me wonder if he was made as a reference to Web-Man.
Good thing Miles doesn't have any issues with abilities not meshing with costumes.
24:17 Who else is shooting fat white ropes
5:37 i think this darker area it's supposed to be another material to prevent friction between the thighs, but I agree it looks like piss
This dude is the most picky outfit observer ever and im down for it. Some point u say I feel are too over looked but pretty solid vid
I actually really like the advanced suit from the first game. My only issue was the colour scheme. I prefer the first suit over the 2.0. There were just some weird choices made with the 2.0 but I still do like it.
7:03 THANK YOU. The second i noticed the shoes i hated that whole style
I LOVE these videos, and I love how brief they are, keep it up, and don’t be afraid to pad out the runtime either
I see what you did in the thumbnail, well played brother.
I can abandon my bias and come to my own conclusions on how it could be improved.
same, I disagree with some of his takes but it’s just personal preference at the end of the day and this is his ranking, not mine
31:50 I'm so used to seeing this suit with a belt in the TASM game that i forgot that it didn't have it in the movie and how weird it looks without it, at least in my eyes.
Best in the business, thanks for uploading
getting distracted by spider-man’s arse at 56:15 has to be the funniest thing i’ve seen in my life
I love the classic suit personally, if the NWH suit and TASM2 suit didn’t exist it’d be my main classic suit
Good to see someone who also like the Spider UK suit
The god is back
spiderman got scared by venom so much he pissed his pants
LETS GO I LOVE DORITOGOD
Hey! spider-man here. i liked the video, but i will say when you're whipping around buildings and slinging webs at the speeds i am, drinks don't tend to stay in your stomach
As someone who loves blue, yeah that’s too much blue on the 2.0 suit
This video drags when you just go in on the MCU spider-man like damn
Yeah I don't get the hate for the mcu movies
6:00
Smash next question
Bro really took every opportunity to hate on the MCU Spider-Man
womp womp😢
For good reason. Iron man jr is awful
I know, and it really comes off as annoyingly biased when he speaks on the final swing suit, which is by far the most comic accurate Spider-Man suit ever brought to screen, also disregarding the massive changes that movie did to bring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man more in line with the comics
@@TheAMVDorf also, people say the final swing suit has a gold tinted logo, but I was using it in-game and… it’s black
his ass is NOT hi-top films 😭😭😭
One thing I don't particularly like is that the OC suits also aren't canon / canon-adjacent suits. I really liked suits like the armoured advanced suit and velocity suit because they told a story about this version of Spider-Man.
Instead of all these "What if Spider-Man were dressed like the villain" suits, I'd much prefer a selection of suits that Spider-Man created to take down specific villains. I know suits like Anti-Ock are hyper niche specifically because of that context, but I still appreciate and respect the implied storytelling more than a Kraven or Wraith crossover suit that I'm not going to even consider wearing anyway.
velocity suit is peak alt spider-man design
I feel like the anti-venom suit looks a lot like that one scene from TASM when dr connors first uses the lizard formula and his hand regenerates and it looks really wierd
47:52
Fun fact: this suit has a custom wingsuit.
27:44 Ok, now I need a Dorito God ASMR.
REAL
Nope, you’re wrong. There is always time for Spidey to thirst trap😂
I am very happy I found your youtube channel last year when it comes to designs and what we find cool or good we agree on some and disagree on more but I think that's important so I wish you good luck and wish to see your opinions on more superhero games
Not gonna lie I still play Spider-Man 1 on PC with mods because the suit selection in SM2 is so weak to me
It honestly is. Half the suits are trash
yea the suits are way better on the original imo, wished they ported over most or even all of them into SM2
I’m happy I’m not the only one unsatisfied with Peter’s suits in this game.
True, the comic suits in Spider-Man 1 are perfect
@@superjlk_9538 The problem is that they put alot of unnecessary suits like for example his advanced suit 2.0 has a yellow variant which is trash and unnecessary
56:15 Sometimes you just gotta appreciate some nice cake 😂😂
New blue style 1 is what happens when a time traveler sneezes
The hell fire gala suit is cool if they didn’t do that duo material.
Coming in here to say I think your take on the final swing suit is misplaced. Everyone complains about the over-designed superhero suits that the MCU popularized, and I think this suit is a return to those simple designs. I also think the silky parts make it really pop out. I don't like the character either-I've hated Tom Holland's Spidey since I saw Homecoming in theaters-but this suit is definitely a top 3 live-action suit we've ever gotten.
the shiny blue 😩😩😩 maybe because i'm a spider-armour mark 4 enjoyer but man it looks good
The fact that this was recorded with Spidey standing on a fan is giving me anxiety.
@@DoritoGOD2811It sorta gives me Star-Lord vibes tbh
Can we all agree about overdesigning:
1. *It's one of the worst & most uninspiring tropes in character designing*
2. It does NOT make the costumes look realistic, Just boring
That’s why I hate the advanced suit so much. Especially since the “classic” suit from the first game looks good. Should’ve just been Spider-Man’s go to for the entire game.
That sip of water made me want to burn my phone
Raimi suit and TASM2 suit will forever be peak
No, the blue of the Final Swing suit actually is straight up green. It's also way too dark. In the movie it's a light sky blue, but they for some reason made it a dark aqua in the game. It shouldn't look like that during every time of day other than night and overcast. Also the red is very orange, especially when standing down on the streets
The Last Hunt suit looks like Sabertooth had a baby with Madame Web
BABE WAKE UP NEW MARVEL SUITS VIDEO JUST DROPPED
44:14 the ps4 big time suit is my favorite spider-man suit of all time so I get how you feel but I appreciate at least having the green version of this suit to somewhat resemble that one.
Dude, woke up in the morning and absolutely despises anything that has the color orange in it, orange fans are in shambles.
In all seriousness good video >:]
I’m happy I’ve found someone else who’s super nitpicky about personal preference when it comes to character designs/costumes
I might be the only person who genuinely loves the Fly 'n Fresh suits. They look so silly I can't help but love them
This video is about Spider-Man
Noooo I think it’s about peter…
no, it's about Peter Parker, the Spider-Man video will come later
@@ohlakwaOh yeah you're right I forgot Spider-Man is in Miles Morales' backpack
Nahhhhh it's about ironman.
I’m finally glad I’m not the only one who noticed the eyes of the tasm 2 look off. No one has brought it up.
probably because the eyes look off with the actual suit in the movie
Finally, someone didn't trash on the Amazing Spider-Man suits. And I'm only watching this so I can feel comfortable before buying a PS5.😂
This suit caused my heart to enter Tachycardia and then shot my cat and burned my house down while I was incapacitated. 7.5/10
1:07:50 in Australia we have a spider literally named the Huntsman spider. It's a large ambulatory hunter with densely packed scopulae (spider hair).
I can’t be the only one who likes a Peter suit to be red with orange lighting?
hot take but if the first advanced suit had a better red i would probably like it more than the new one
I really love the Anti-venom variation for the Insomniac Black Suit. I actually played that towards the end instead of the actual one. It's just so cool
For the TASM 2 suit the lenses are supposed to flat on top but they’re rounded in the game
I thought I was the only one who noticed this
Feel like the Advanced Suit 1.0 was more of a Reddish Orange while the 2.0 is just plain Red.
Dude please do the suits in the GOTG game
I feel like if the kumo suit had like a patvir contrast as a miles suit it would dominate as a match up
