    I have a simular story ... I was in the British Army and at 17 posted to Germany. I was in the same camp for 12 years. When I got there I started learning German (without any schooling) by mixing with the people. After about a year or so I was able to communicate with no great problem. Now I can also read and write German (most times better than English). After my time in the army was up I decided to stay and find a job, I wasn't even a day out of work. I had a job too go to when my Army time was up. One day a soldier the next working in a retail firm. Got married had three sons, and have been here now for 38 years plus 12 Army time = 50 Years. Fun fact I'm 69 and I have two birthdays this year today and tomorrow because my birthday ist the 29.02, some congratulate me today and others tomorrow :-))
    P.S. great Video and the camera I find super

    Hey Cruise. I spent a year in japan (osaka) with my japanese wife. I taught English and found the experience great. My advice for anyone trying is 2nd hand stuff is so cheap over there and good quality. Also the only bad part was the politics of the us vs them mentality of my English school. If you find the right school and the right job life is easy in japan with very basic japanese language ability.

    This is a really helpful video, and the beautiful footage doesn't hurt either! Thank you for doing this. P.S. I think you made the right decision. At the end of the day, as long as you're comfortable, money isn't that important. If you ask elderly people, I never hear "I wish I made more money", whereas there are always regrets about not taking certain opportunities or experiences. I'm not one to fetishize Japan, but even I must admit that it's a pretty unique and incredible place, and if I knew the language, I'd move there in a heartbeat.

    Watching your channel is usually for bicycle related things, but when Throng and you discuss aspects of your relationship and how you both became married, it makes me think about my relationship with my Vietnamese future wife, Nguyen. When I was with her in Vietnam, I seriously considered making all the arrangements necessary to live there with her vs applying for her to come to America. Then covid hit and that made us place our hopes of being together any time soon on me getting her to the US. But yea, before the current circumstances dictated that as our only option, it would have been a huge logistical undertaking and a major sacrifice in my current stage in life to live there. However for her, I would have found a way. But perhaps even though we have been kept apart over a year now, hopefully her visa process will be successful!!! In the mean time, I am also hoping as long as that will take, Vietnam will allow me to return before Nguyen is called for an interview. Then if all goes well, I will be able to see her as soon as possible. Being she has never traveled out side her country, I can be with her as we both fly back together, easing her stress. But if somewhere along the line that fails, like you said, must take action, I will be back to plan A!!! I'm just ready for all this covid stuff and all the hope filled waiting to be over.... and one way or the other we have our life together finally begin!

    I was born in Cuba moved to USA at age 5 and as such am fluent in two languages. In addition I practice Shotokan with a Japanese gentleman and by this and other means learned to appreciated the Japanese culture (what little I know). I am a Med Lab Tech but studied philosophy as a hobby and I must say your thought process and decision to take on the adventure to move to Japan is reflective of a very mature mind. There is a saying time is money, it is not. Maybe in business but the fact is you live in time not in money. Time is the most precious thing you have and you never get a second chance at today once it is gone it's gone. Following a passion and things that bring you joy and enrichment is an investment in your time, your life that will bring you treasures in memories that will be with you all your life.
    Being bilingual (fluent in both languages) I can and often find myself thinking in one or the other language and there can be some very subtle yet notable difference. It is said thought takes place in language. Language is also one of the major component to culture as is "god(s)". Arriving at or reaching towards being or becoming bi-cultural, in your case due to your wife brining a third culture maybe even tri-cultural is or must be a very engaging and satisfying thing. Living richly (once you have the basics plus a little extra covered) has very little to do with money, as I can see in your joy for something as simple as your video on locking your bike, (how I bumped on to your channel). Best of luck. Arigatou gozaimasu.

    • @Kotaro1326
      @Kotaro1326 3 года назад

      That’s one thing that a lot of people just don’t realize especially if they are only fluent in one language. Learning a new language is more than just about learning the language...but also learning about a whole new way of thinking and seeing things. And if you’re an English speaker...learning an Eastern language is like coming to see a lot of very new things for the very first time as oppose to learning Spanish German, French, Greek, or Italian because those languages are somewhat similar to English.

    We filipinos also came here in japan to earn much money.. because the salary in the Philippines are not enough, only for those college graduate can earn much money..but here in japan whether you are college grad. or not the salary is good..

    • @PutitoCorner
      @PutitoCorner 3 года назад +1

      I beg to differ. Am also from the Philippines, and also a college graduate. A college degree does not necessarily mean you get high-paying jobs in the Philippines, even if you graduated from a prestigious school. But I do understand that a college degree is definitely an edge over applicants who did not finish college. Still, I don't believe it is a sure way in getting a high-paying job. From my experience, there are not many job opportunities that pay well in the Philippines. Many job openings lump together different job descriptions into one job title, but only pay the salary of essentially one person, even if the job description clearly shows it's a job meant for at least two or three people. Many employers in the Philippines do this, and it's most certainly common in my field, media and communications, where workers are stretched thin, overworked very often, but the pay is not commensurate with the heavy workload. I'm sure the same thing could be said about other industries in the Philippines. In my case, I've had luck with my current job now which pays almost thrice as much my two previous jobs, but the work I do oftentimes require me to exert more effort, like tasks that are not within my job description. If I could find a better paying job, I would most certainly apply for it. But at the moment, resigning from my job doesn't seem like a smart thing to do given the COVID-19 situation in the country. I just think to myself that I am lucky to even have a job amid this pandemic, because clearly, many lost their job and badly needed one to survive this pandemic.

    To enjoy life in Japan, one should look to the wind to be your roadmap in life. Oh, the Japanese Nenkin currently if self employed and paid into for many years ( maybe 35 years ) is about 65000 yen every 2 months. If you are lucky that is and then they take the old age type of care cost from it too. Bummed because I don't think I'm going to get used to this camera and it really affects my enjoyment of the videos. I know everybody said they liked it but I find the movements really robotic and, in a lot of instances, just unnecessary. Like when you turn, it pans - or you're panning manually, I don't know which. Chest cam feels like you're on a bike ride. This feels like you're on a drone or something. And I'd honestly rather see what's ahead than watch you talking 😄 (anybody on a ride video, not you in particular) Feels like there are a lot more edits too. Overall effect for me is a video that's much harder to watch. Anyway, take that for what you will.

I think the only time I saw her coast was on down hills how do you train for that, does her legs not get tired? Second question I'm also from the USA curious I've never seen any black people during your cycling or when you guys are out and about. Are there no black people in that city you guys live? Can I assume Japan is not as diverse as it is here in America?

      You don't see in the video me telling her "keep pedaling" lol.
      Less than 2% of Japan is foreign, and the majority of this is Asian, so black people are a very small minority here.

    OMG wow, I had no idea that immigrant workers would pay so much money to go work in Japan (or other countries). Holy smokes. wow. I wonder, does that include the cost of the flight, housing, and language school? Even if it did, there could still be a lot of extra money on top of those actual costs.

    Firstly, would you please advise who is the beneficiary of $12500 your wife paid to go Japan? Secondly, is there any opportunities for you working for a Japanese companies outside of Japan?

      The biggest beneficiary is the referral organization who recruits the foreign workers. Plenty of opportunities outside of Japan.

    What all did the 12500$ cover?

      A big part is referral commissions, plus school fees, food, school dorm, plane ticket, etc.

    Everyone wants to get the hell out of the west. Good choice not doing web dev in USA - the market is flooded with cheap labor now. It's really hard to find a dev job in US now since everyone wants to those jobs. And USA has defacto open borders.

    How common story. You should upgrade to mutch more exciting story. You first can tell that you were pirate and you area was the pacific ocean and Japanese marine force get you and while you were transit to cell, you run away and now you are hiding japanese cops and find way to free. That would be more exciting story and kid's will listen that with their eyes wet.

      They actually aren't that picky and are becoming more desperate for migrant workers
