I am in northeastern Ohio, our inland lakes tend to be smaller and heavily pressured, night time was a good time to fish to get away from the crowds and boat traffic! Bass have no trouble finding small baits in the dark, a texas rigged 4 inch ring worm or a 1/8th ounce jig with a pork grub worked very well for me.

I live on a smaller lake (160 acres) that is seemingly unlike any regular lake. We have decent fish but man are they hard to catch in the summer. The odd thing is, there is no grass (lake is in northern Pennsylvania). No shad either, all bluegill, perch, and large mouths. Does the color line still apply here? It's a man made lake, mostly a mud bottom but some rock closer to shore. Creek bed is the deepest through the center at 15 ft and it is decently rocky. Thanks!

Here is my issue I live on a big beautiful lake that has nice pond directly connected the gap between the 2 is about a foot deep then it starts to drop down deeper the pond side is mostly the fishing area it's lined with lillies all around the edges and in the open water section it's other submerged plant life. Now I can always rock the bass with a frog in the lily areas but fishing the open water section all I ever catch is pickeral. The main lake section is deep but shallow all the way around with really no plant life just some deep down submerged plant life here and there some down logs but I never see anything in the 4 to 6 foot shallow sections around these logs our water is very clear. So that's why I stay to the pond side but I hate having to just fish frogs for the base and I feel they should be in the open water section of the pond also but again I strictly catch pickeral there. Any tips or suggestions to how to get or find those bass that should be possible in the open water section Also? The pond sides open water area at it's deep part is only 10ft rest is around 2 to 4 on average. Lots of Lilly grass and submerged plant life. Any tips would be awesone..

You need to use a heavy rod to set the hooks on a big frog. I use a dobyns fury mag heavy.

I miss a lot of frog fish because I set the hook too early. I seem to hook up better if I wait for a second to make sure they actually got the frog under water in their mouth. Using a dobyns mag heavy 7'3
