We had Solid Snake sneaking around in a box and now we have a goofy thief trying to inspire a Toy Story 2 scene sneaking around stealing Amazon packages while in a traffic cone.
In my country they dont leave packages on porches, i would be royally pissed if my 500 euro ketamine order got dumped on my porch even if it didnt get stolen, we are sophisticated over here

criminals who get caught are the dumbest people in existence. imagine if you will, someone so untalented, unskilled, and inept, that they cannot make a living with a normal job and must resort to this tomfoolery. then add on the fact that they are dumb enough to not understand that the entire world is being monitored by door cams, surveillance cams, license plate readers, face recognition software, etc, etc, and therefore are able to be tracked down by the police work equivalent of google reverse image. i simply cannot even begin to imagine how etardedray these people are. the second package thief is 100% dumber than the solid snake guy.
I'm surprised nobody seems to know this is the exact same strategy used in some Metal Gear games with drum cans. The greatest video game series going ignored, Kojima would be disappointed.
It's a rising trend here in Belgium too. Mailmen stealing packages by signing them first, taking a picture of the package before scurrying off with them. It's scary to think about, really. Luckily it hasn't happened to me (yet) but my heart goes out to anyone who's been a victim to porch pirates.

I struggled with insomnia, my mom told me quit going to sleep with my phone or TV on. I turned them off and no longer use them as a nightlight. It's made a huge difference. I hope that helps. It's horrible to be lying in bed and thinking about how much time you have to sleep if only you could fall asleep because you have to do this that and the other.

Tho the cops can arrest you for it, they have to hand you over to the fbi for the rest, but then I don't think it fills the cops quota for arrests and tickets and shit then, so they are incentivize not to arrest these people, or if the quota part is false then they just don't want to do their job cuz it's not a big enough crime for them to investigate, especially because they have to hand the case over and cops don't like the feds for dumb ass boy's club reasons, or some other dumb reasons like that, or maybe a bit of all of it... But Judges can't sentence people that never get arrested... And then the media needs to make a story about it so everyone knows they will be cop-handled for it...

@1:04 Okay, as irate as I am about porch pirates, I instantly laughed about this one. This is hilarious. I mean, someone still had something stolen from them, but this is the single most creative and comical way of doing it.
I'm so confused why so many packages are left out on the porch in America? I've lived in several countries and never seen this phenomenon. You either stay home and take the package at the door, or it goes to a neighbor, or you pick it up from the post office/a pickup point, or you have it delivered to a parcel locker. It's so weird to just leave it outside where anyone can grab it. Would you leave your wallet on the porch too? All your credit cards? $2000 in cash? Kinda asking for it to be stolen.
Because most choose to do it out of laziness. Amazon has the option where you can pick it up at one of the partner stores. Other mail carriers have a limited hold option. Most retail stores you can order it and pick it up at the store. People just don't want to drive and they think they won't get their packages stolen until it happens to them.
Because theft just isn't that common in a lot of places, and the average amazon box is only worth a few bucks. When I worked for package delivery for a month, we were trained to hide and place packages where they wouldn't be visible to the street, and other mitigations. But the experienced drivers said it basically never happened and not to worry too much about it. Also Amazon recently made their own delivery service and pay the drivers less and incentivize faster delivery times more. In my experience that results in the drivers throwing the packages wherever.
For starters, a lot of packages get delivered when people aren't home. And, since America's cities are very car-dependent and not well designed, picking packages up from a pickup point often means a 20-40 minute trip to the nearest post office or store, which is inconvenient enough that most people opt to take the risk of having packages stolen.

It’s called “Expedition Bigfoot”, and the surrounding terrain is BEYOND gorgeous. I'm so confused why so many packages are left out on the porch in America? I've lived in several countries and never seen this phenomenon. You either stay home and take the package at the door, or it goes to a neighbor, or you pick it up from the post office/a pickup point, or you have it delivered to a parcel locker. It's so weird to just leave it outside where anyone can grab it. Would you leave your wallet on the porch too? All your credit cards? $2000 in cash? Kinda asking for it to be stolen.
Because most choose to do it out of laziness. Amazon has the option where you can pick it up at one of the partner stores. Other mail carriers have a limited hold option. Most retail stores you can order it and pick it up at the store. People just don't want to drive and they think they won't get their packages stolen until it happens to them.
Because theft just isn't that common in a lot of places, and the average amazon box is only worth a few bucks. When I worked for package delivery for a month, we were trained to hide and place packages where they wouldn't be visible to the street, and other mitigations. But the experienced drivers said it basically never happened and not to worry too much about it.
Also Amazon recently made their own delivery service and pay the drivers less and incentivize faster delivery times more. In my experience that results in the drivers throwing the packages wherever.
For starters, a lot of packages get delivered when people aren't home. And, since America's cities are very car-dependent and not well designed, picking packages up from a pickup point often means a 20-40 minute trip to the nearest post office or store, which is inconvenient enough that most people opt to take the risk of having packages stolen.
As someone who lives in a rural area I'd rather they leave it on my porch...

Idk if Charlie knows about this, but I’m northern Georgia there’s a really cool Bigfoot exam curated by a whole lot of scientists (with actual qualifications) and run by enthusiasts. It’s called “Expedition Bigfoot”, and the surrounding terrain is BEYOND gorgeous.
I encountered it with my mother moving back to Chicago from grad school in Miami, and that whole segment of the trip was fantastic!
