Let's not forget this is also an achievement of the character writing! They didn't just write Rex, they evolved him but still preserved his the core of his character

Light spoilers for any who haven't reached Chapter 5 in the base game.. - - - - I was thinking...Glimmer was in Colony Gamma, which was Mio's home colony in the base game. If she hadn't been removed from the cycle (Her statue in the base game confirms this, so not a spoiler), the two sisters could well have been comrades. Though Na'el being descended from Mio (the one who became M) means she became a city founder alongside her great aunt while being similarly aged to the latter. LOL
There are lots of transfers back and forth between colonies. Even Noah's trio wasn't originally from Col.9. Same goes for Mio's trio. Mio & Sena were from Omega and Taion was from Isurd's Colony. Also, the Gamma of Glimmer's time is not the Gamma of Mio's time.
