Fun fact: lestats hair is not a wig but the actors (Sam Reid) own hair. The director said he could keep it short but as a book fan he instead on growing it out. He still has the long hair and it’s amazing

There is another film that was released in 2002 based on Anne Rice's third book in "The Vampire Chronicles called "Queen of the Dammed " which was terrible. The series will adapt Anne Rices' second book "The Vampire Lestat" for the upcoming third season, which will be Lestat's' origin story.as well as set up a potential 4th season which will adapt "Queen of the Dammed" which goes into the origin story of the Vampire race.

The worst Lestat moment for me in this show is probably when he brings up Bruce to Claudia after he did what he did to her, like for him to just say that Bruce still thinks about her after it is just sooo gross especially as she was trying to leave, Claudia had it rough this whole show, a 14 year old Vampire and then her encounter with Bruce destroyed any hope for a partner and then for Lestat to abuse her emotionally with her exploitation was ew.
I totally understand and agree! I can't remember exactly what I say but I disagree with my reaction towards Bruce now. I think in my mind I was preparing him to be like a Spike (from Buffy) and thought he was going to have a bigger role as a villain on the show. I think I even misunderstood what happened too on my first watch, I'm not quite sure.
If you're writing a book about Vampires you should definitely read Anne Rice. At the very least the first 3 books in The Vampire Chronicles. Most modern vampire lore actually comes from her books, Twilight is basically watered down Anne Rice. The Vampires in her series actually vary in strength and are quite powerful depending on age so humans are basically a non factor in terms of being a major threat to them. Only older Vampires are a threat to Younger Vampires while older Vampires are a threat to themselves.
I have an unproven theory that Stephenie Meyer actually googled to learn about vampire strengths and weaknesses and didn't realize she was reading the Vampire Chronicles wiki page about them and not actually learning general vampire lore/mythos about it. Lol
Louis and claudia do have a father daughter relationship i really love it i didn't realize until after my rewatch of season 1 that the woman who played Louis mother is rae dawn chong she was really big during the 80,s and 90,s

Just found your reactions now, will be checking your S02 reacts out a little later on. I've watched the Mayfair Witches tv series, too! I wish I saw more people talking about it.....I've heard that apparently it deviates a lot more fron the books it's based on than IWTV does, but I haven't read the Mayfair Witches books yet like I've read the Vampire Chronicles books so I can't compare. I thought it was good(really appreciated the cast's performances!), definitely dark af tho, but the IWTV tv series is much better-IWTV just has that "it" factor, that spark of incomparable greatness(it's almost unfair to compare anything to it), imo. Lol Did you ever watch it, or not? It is set in the same universe as the Vampire Chronicles like Interview, but it follows different characters, although there is sure to be some crossover later on down the line I'm sure.
I will point out, Louis isn't necessarily good, he's just struggling to find the humanity he had left in him. All of the vampires in this story are awful, nobody outweighs the other. Also, the use of romance in the story actually is where the vampires do show a sense of humanity because they have someone to love. Which is so interesting
Actually there it was a serie called "Chica Vampiro" is in spanish, and each vampire had a different ability, all of them can fly, but few of them were strong and few of them were fast, and they were allergic to garlic, to the sun, to cruxifics and Water, no holly water just simple Water and there it was a deseased that they could get that would make them look like a bat, and also they could die of a broken heart. All that sound good until you know is a romance-comedy novella, so has bad camera quality and the cgi is awful 😅 but was my favorite thing as a kid.
One thing they don’t really explain to the audience (probably will be elaborated on in season 2) is that most vampires, including Lestat, put their victims into a swoon. A swoon makes the victim feel nothing but happiness and pleasure. So for example, when Lestat is killing the Tenor and the book salesman, they are both in a state of euphoria. Louis never uses a swoon on his human victims as he feels it is dishonest, that they should be aware they are dying. Other vampires consider this to be particularly vicious and barbaric.
I get that people love lestat, so you guys like to say that Louie is more evil he doesn't do the swoop cause that means that he'll be thinking about the human being that he is killing.

Just found your channel & I'm so glad you're doing this series. I would highly recommend the books as well. I know in Buffy, humans can kill the vamps but in every other story about vampires, the showrunners don't shy away from the fact that vampires are so much more stronger than humans & have so many gifts that make them appear superior, I'm not saying they are. Obviously, they're fictional anyway. I love Daniel Molloy so much! Especially how smart & sassy he is. Out of all the vampires in this universe, which are much more than 100, Louis is the most humane & it never changes.
I've already read the books but this show is so well made and with so much love and caring that I've been avoiding trailers to reach s2 with as little content already seen as I can. Now, two weeks before the premiere, TheCraving™ is real and unbearable so I'm trying to feed myself with reactions instead of jumping on the new released content haha Anyway, I loved your reaction and I hope you can enjoy as much season 2 because there's A LOT coming on!
59:09 - Those shades on Louis' face are almost definitely a nod the 1990s Dracula movie with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves in it.🤭🤭 (There are way too many of these nods to various vampire pop culture and monster movies and such to list them all, but I love 'em.😊 Anne Rice was inspired to write her books because of old vampire movies, not because of the classic vampire literature that inspires most people, and she was a big fan of things like True Blood throughout the years which came after her books. ^--^)
I haven't read the books but agree that as far as the show goes Lestat is definitely worse than Armand. If I had to pick between a long term partner who lied to me vs a long term partner who beat the sh*t out of me and assaulted me I'd choose the former. They literally had to plot Lestat's murder to escape his abuse, at least with Armand he didn't have to do that.

I'm a fan of Vampire Lore. I have watched the following vampire shows- Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Van Helsing, Tooth Pari: When Love Bites which was only 1 season, and First Kill which was unfairly cancelled after 1 season and I strongly recommend watching still, and this which is excellent. My least favorite would be The Vampire Diaries and The Orginals followed by Tooth Pari, but they are still amazing shows I very much enjoyed still.
33:23 - I'm sure you know this by now, but ..different vampires are stronger or weaker at the various Anne-Ricean/Vampire-Chronicles/ vampire skills(so each vampire kind of does specialize in certain ways more or less than other vampires might), not all can always do everything, and[ in the books] even some humans can actually sometimes confuse some vampire's abilities to read their minds too. And humans can kill vampires too, especially during the daylight hours, they just have to be smart about it rather than rely on trying to be able to physically overpower one(I mean even in Twilight a human probably couldn't physically overpower a vampire either). But the older or more powerful the Ricean/VC vampire, the closer and closer to unkillable even by other vampires they become. I'm hoping the tv series will explore this fact a lot more in future seasons, the differences in how their powers do or don't manifest or get utilized exactly in each individual vampire and how power levels vary from one to another.😊 But, yeah, since the Vampire Chronicles is a series about characters being a vampire and not about a human either co-existing with vampires or trying to triumph over them as an enemy....they are gloriously overpowered, comparatively to a lot of other series' versions. I'm into part two of this video and heard you mention the film. Personally, go ahead and watch it. With how many changes they made, it's interesting when you know what happens and have to guess how the story unfolds. Plus the film was written by Anne Rice herself so I see it as her redo on the novel. Life long Anne Rice fan that has a shrine dedicated to her here. What can I say? Been waiting for this since 2008 when I learned about her. Oh, watch Mayfair Witches. Sister series that WILL crossover down the line.

Anne Rice actually had very little control of the film, she actually got kicked out of the project just because she didn't like the changes to characters and story, plus she also did not like at all how tom cruise was gonna be lestat, she ofc loved it when it came out though. Anne Rice acutally helped produce this series before she passed away, her son mainly took over.
@@Simone-yv3ro In particular, she didn't think Tom Cruise _looked_ the part of Lestat how she imagined Lestat, although she later commended him for his performance really portraying the character well anyhow....but she always dreamed of getting the chance for a do-over to get a Lestat who also looked the part to her, especially after the Queen of the Damned movie took even more liberties with the story and characters. (Although she said basically that Brad Pitt's performance showed her that literally any beautiful face could play Louis, so she became much less attached to the idea of anyone else except Lestat looking their roles exactly as described in the book as long as they could capture the essence or such of the character well. She said that in a Q&A on her FB, while she was looking for the right channel/studio to produce a Vampire Chronicles tv series with her or short after having found one.) People seem to think executive producer credits are basically just silent financial backers or something, because that's more how they function for movies, but on tv series executive producers tend to be the ones much more in charge of everything while the directors and writers often change from episode to episode(and I doubt she would have ever sold the rights again to anybody to make a new screen adaptation without veto/decision making power included in the deal)-and she didn't pass away until filming was starting. But it's all speculation, either way, I s'pose....without her here to say for sure exactly how involved in which things she was or wasn't. (Although, in that same Q&A session she did say they would almost definitely be casting adult rather than child actors for Armand and such in the tv series....ssooo. I tend to think she approved or even suggested way more of the things we see in the tv series than many people seem to believe she did, even though basically only filming was still left to finish after she passed away, if I recall it correctly.)

I can play the piano by ear but I could never follow the sheet music. I listen to a song and then I find the keys on the piano and play it that way. I'm more of a, if you show me how to do something then I can do it. However, if tell me how to do it without showing me it takes me longer.
It just now occured to me that Paul was depressed and seek in God help and he may have suspected all this time that Louis was gay so seeing him with a white men, suspecting it and then that white men shows some crazy powers, may that drive him to kill himself and even if that isn't true, Louis most probably have come to this conclusion so maybe that is why all this time he blame Lestat for it.
Paul told Louis that Lestat spoke to Paul in Paul's mind without Lestat's mouth moving. Louis knows that Lestat can actually do that, because Lestat has done so to Louis too. Even if Lestat did not intentionally drive Paul over the edge, doing things like that to Paul who was already pretty mentally fragile and unstable could very well have easily helped push Paul even further over the edge, I mean just look at how far Lestat's nonsense pushed Louis too right before Louis' turning in the church.😅🙃👀
The Buffy thing is kind of overly convenient. I mean it's nice, but. It is basically to make everything easier. It's not even like that in the Buffy movie (not that that's the standard). :)

I'm into part two of this video and heard you mention the film.
Personally, go ahead and watch it. With how many changes they made, it's interesting when you know what happens and have to guess how the story unfolds. Plus the film was written by Anne Rice herself so I see it as her redo on the novel.
Life long Anne Rice fan that has a shrine dedicated to her here. What can I say? Been waiting for this since 2008 when I learned about her.
Oh, watch Mayfair Witches. Sister series that WILL crossover down the line.

Anne Rice actually had very little control of the film, she actually got kicked out of the project just because she didn't like the changes to characters and story, plus she also did not like at all how tom cruise was gonna be lestat, she ofc loved it when it came out though. Anne Rice acutally helped produce this series before she passed away, her son mainly took over.

@@Simone-yv3ro In particular, she didn't think Tom Cruise _looked_ the part of Lestat how she imagined Lestat, although she later commended him for his performance really portraying the character well anyhow....but she always dreamed of getting the chance for a do-over to get a Lestat who also looked the part to her, especially after the Queen of the Damned movie took even more liberties with the story and characters. (Although she said basically that Brad Pitt's performance showed her that literally any beautiful face could play Louis, so she became much less attached to the idea of anyone else except Lestat looking their roles exactly as described in the book as long as they could capture the essence or such of the character well. She said that in a Q&A on her FB, while she was looking for the right channel/studio to produce a Vampire Chronicles tv series with her or short after having found one.) People seem to think executive producer credits are basically just silent financial backers or something, because that's more how they function for movies, but on tv series executive producers tend to be the ones much more in charge of everything while the directors and writers often change from episode to episode(and I doubt she would have ever sold the rights again to anybody to make a new screen adaptation without veto/decision making power included in the deal)-and she didn't pass away until filming was starting. But it's all speculation, either way, I s'pose....without her here to say for sure exactly how involved in which things she was or wasn't. (Although, in that same Q&A session she did say they would almost definitely be casting adult rather than child actors for Armand and such in the tv series....ssooo. I tend to think she approved or even suggested way more of the things we see in the tv series than many people seem to believe she did, even though basically only filming was still left to finish after she passed away, if I recall it correctly.)

Buut, yeahh, I'd rather bite humans myself personally than animals if I were ever a vampire. Certain people in my life often give me a bit of a hard time over my liking animals too much more than I care for humans. Lol
I can play the piano by ear but I could never follow the sheet music. I listen to a song and then I find the keys on the piano and play it that way. I'm more of a, if you show me how to do something then I can do it. However, if tell me how to do it without showing me it takes me longer.
It just now occured to me that Paul was depressed and seek in God help and he may have suspected all this time that Louis was gay so seeing him with a white men, suspecting it and then that white men shows some crazy powers, may that drive him to kill himself and even if that isn't true, Louis most probably have come to this conclusion so maybe that is why all this time he blame Lestat for it.
Paul told Louis that Lestat spoke to Paul in Paul's mind without Lestat's mouth moving. Louis knows that Lestat can actually do that, because Lestat has done so to Louis too. Even if Lestat did not intentionally drive Paul over the edge, doing things like that to Paul who was already pretty mentally fragile and unstable could very well have easily helped push Paul even further over the edge, I mean just look at how far Lestat's nonsense pushed Louis too right before Louis' turning in the church.😅🙃👀
The Buffy thing is kind of overly convenient. I mean it's nice, but. It is basically to make everything easier. It's not even like that in the Buffy movie (not that that's the standard). :)

@@BillyKearneyReacts Yes. More convenient for the kids not to have to dispose of bodies (even lampshaded in at least one episode where they kill a different type of monster). It's cool, but it's wasn't used much before show Buffy (except for sunlight, although that is an addition from _Nosferatu)._
