Microstrategy's Michael Saylor on the company's bitcoin future

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor told CNBC on Tuesday he sees a bright future for a range of cryptocurrencies, not just bitcoin.
Saylor, one of the most vocal bitcoin proponents, has over the past year raised the profile of his enterprise software company by investing heavily in the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market value.
In an interview Tuesday on “Fast Money,” Saylor said different cryptocurrencies serve different purposes, but it might take time for newcomers to the digital asset space to recognize those distinctions.
For example, Saylor said, he sees bitcoin as “digital property” and a store of value, while ether and the Ethereum blockchain seek to disrupt traditional finance.
“You’re going to want to build your buildings on a solid footing of granite, so bitcoin is made to last forever - high integrity, very durable. Ethereum is trying to dematerialize exchanges and the finance establishment,” Saylor said. “I think that as the market starts to understand these things, there’s a place for everybody.”
MicroStrategy announced Monday that it recently completed a debt offering with the intention of using proceeds to buy more bitcoin.
The company also said Monday it is launching a program to sell $1 billion worth of additional stock over time. Saylor told CNBC the firm could use money from the stock offering to purchase bitcoin, to retire debt or for general corporate purposes.
Shares of MicroStrategy are up about 62% so far this year and more than 400% in the past 12 months.
The stock closed Tuesday at $630.54, up more than 5% on the session. In February, it set a 52-week high when it traded above $1,300.

With the current increase in the market I see Cryptocurrency as ultimately becoming a reserve currency for banks , playing much the same role as gold did in the early days of banking . The irony of CNBC asking The Saylor Man about the future of bitcoin when it is corporate media that doesn't have a future is hilarious.
ECB Paper released yesterday by C. LeGarde states Crypto set to disrupt $867 Trillion in global trade.. It goes on to recommend which crypto's to invest in. (eg. Cardano) That's a 570X for the Sector. This train is just leaving the station folks.

Anyone please explain what Michael said " his 120$ per share and $60 in cash". I do not get this well..
The company had 900 million in non-cash assets and 450 million in cash reserves. Basically he's saying that half of the equity in the company was cash reserves and the value of cash depreciates over time, so despite being an asset, shareholders viewed it as a liability.

He answered the question in another Interview about why companies would buy Microstrategy vs just BTC by pointing out that companies with charters require them to buy publicly traded companies for their investments and treasuries. They can't buy BTC directly. At least not yet.

Institutions can’t buy Bitcoin until the regulations is clear, so if institutions want exposure to BTC they can get it through an registered company such as micro strategy. She’s referring to the way he leverages, trades, uses his company shares to increase his btc holdings at a discounted price. She’s not saying he’s a bitcoin day trader. By the time Saylor announces his bitcoin buy, and spot price of btc at the time, the story of how he made gains prior to doing so is untold.

Bitcoin backwardation =spot price higher than futures price.
That doesn’t guarantee outcome. When you stretch bitcoins timeline, remove parabolic idiocy, there’s an upward line unlike most any other investment. Should this continue, failure to buy btc is a mistake.

Micro strategy will never fail as the Bitcoin community will have his back. I pity anyone stupid enough to try and short Micro Strategy down. The man has his own army that will respond in mass with one tweet.
Yep. He just needs to let me know! I feel he deserves the respect he gets form the Bitcoin community though with his consistent thoughtfulness and vision. People love him and he continues to build a bigger and bigger following.

Try sending $1M worth of gold from America to Iran, and then try sending $1M worth of Bitcoin. Try buying a single loaf of bread with gold, and then try with Bitcoin. It won't be long till you learn which one is the more user friendly.
@@stephenoneill2844 that's not really answering the question, I wouldnt send $1m of gold, I'd send $1m of dollars, why would I send BTC? But that doesnt justify $35K valuation.. And nowhere in the world give or take a few places accept BTC for bread, but again I'd use fiat currency, but that still doesnt explain why is crypto valuable? Gold is a bad investment, however has been a store of value for 12000 years, it doesnt corrode, human beings have been drawn to its beauty for centuries. BTC offers nothing, it does nothing, produces nothing, so wheres its value?
