He directed all of the artists on what to play and brought it into his own vision. He also does all of the dj'ing and song structure in terms of the electronically aspect. Just cause lights has an s on the end, it does not mean that this is a multiple person group, i hate when people get that confused

in truth it started out as derek and his drummer corey in the early days when he played small shows in fort collins at the aggie theater and hodi's half note. then he replaced corey and got another drummer and then went solo. so his first two albums included a live drummer.
I love the use of samples because it's a somewhat a dying artform. I can tell PL grew up listening to 90's hip hop which contained samples galore : ) I love new technology and the sounds available in production software, but you can't beat classic samples from CLASSIC tracks.
