    In this video you’re going to learn how to teach your kids coping skills for anxiety. You’ll learn how to coach your child through anxiety and help them overcome it. We’ll talk about the skills to break tasks down into steps they can accomplish and then feel super proud of themselves as they grow and develop an internal sense of resilience. And I’m going to give a bunch of examples of how I coached kids to overcome their anxiety.
    In the first video in this series, we talked about the foundation of your greenhouse, your mindset- you can model for your kids “It’s ok to feel anxiety, but we can choose our actions”. In the second video we talked about creating an safe environment for you kid to face their fears and the #1 most important thing is to create emotional safety for them. This is like the plastic cover on a greenhouse. It provides warmth while the plants grow and face challenges. You do this by connecting with them as they go through their fears, not shaming them, not trying to change how they’re feeling or protect them from having those feelings.
    Connecting with your child is the ultimate form of safety as you demonstrate to them that they can handle challenges.
    In this video we’ll take it to the next step, you’ll learn how to help your child grow through anxiety.
    There are 4 main steps to coaching our children through anxiety and helping them develop coping skills.
    Connect with them emotionally, this means validate without judging them or the feeling (we talked about this in the last video)
    Break the task down into baby baby baby steps
    Help them practice the skill
    Give them plenty of attention when they face a fear

    I'm an adult but really needed this. I used to have anxiety meltdowns and my mother would show frustration and start yelling.I always wished she would've calmly said " hey, let's break this down and do a little bit at a time " or practice. Better now than never. ❤

      Exactly this. I was expected to know and be comfortable with everything right away. Plus was shamed and blamed for struggling and as a result I became afraid of the reaction instead of the thing I'm anxious about.

    This video was so helpful to me. I really appreciate you taking the time to make it for us. Before seeing your video today, I took my daughter to the Dr. and I prepped her ahead of time of what to expect and why they would be doing that. I could tell she was having anxiety before I told her these things. I am thankful for the ideas you shared as I can also use them to help my kids and myself when struggling with anxiety in the future. Thank you so much!

    I am binge watching your videos as my kids are getting more and more anxious. Thank you for your sharing. My question is what if my kids are just scared, and cannot articulate what scares them (they are 10 and 11 years old)

      How is it going now?
      Anxiety can present itself in different ways, covert ways.
      My 10 year old shows no interest. When I don't give him a choice that's when his anxiety comes out.
      Kids need to learn how to recognize their emotions not just how to face them.

    How do you do this with your child who is terrified of the dentist? She had a really bad experience when she went, now she has terrible anxiety and a bunch of cavities. So bad that they have to pull her tooth bc it’s now got a food pocket and gets infected.

    Hi Emma! My 6 years old daughter finds it really hard to make friends. She likes having friends rather envies her elder sister who is very social. She thinks everybody will look at her abd mock her if she initiates a friendship herself. Although she plays very well with her sister. But its difficult for her with new people.
    Can you help with this issue?

    Hi! I was wondering if you have any extra tips on how to ease the anxiety when you have to take your kid into urgent care with a wound or whatnot. We just dealt with this last week when my 9yr old daughter cut her finger badly cleaning a blender blade. She had to get 5 stitches in her finger and it was traumatic for her since she's never had to do anything like that before. The whole time I was saying things like "Don't be scared... be brave... this will all be over soon... yada yada yada. Everything I was saying didn't seem to really help and left me feeling unhelpful and like I was trying to make her not feel her feelings. Now we are going tomorrow to get the stiches out and she's pretty nervous about it and I don't really know the right things to say to her. I do like your tips about going over the process of it. I thought maybe showing her a video of a kid getting their stitches out so she can see how easy it is and maybe roll playing the scenario at home with maybe a stuffed animal. But I still feel like I don't know the right things to say when we are in a scary situation like this. Any advice? Thanks!

    My daughter just failed 10th grade I had no clue 😢she lied and the school counselor never called to inform me. I failed her too. My lord 😢

    What about a child who is terrorized of school? Teachers pulling him away from his mom while the whole school watches? 10 years old. Last year was ok. Help please

    My soul is tortured and tormented and raped.
    He raped me.
    I am in agony.
    Anguished.
    Haunted.
    Panicked.
    In despair.
    I die inside.
    The pain is unbearable.
    I drowned in terror and darkness.
    Nightmares all night.
    Panic attacks all day.
    When and how will I ever heal?
    This happened to me in February,
    and now we're in June...
    I need a miracle.
    A million little miracles...
    His name is Bryan.
    He raped my soul.
    Viciously maliciously
    brutally violently.
    I thought he was my best friend.
    He betrayed and abandoned me
    and left me alone to die.
    Replaced me.
    Discarded me.
    Like garbage.
    Gave me sever PTSD.
    So...
    I release all chords, hooks, ties, and attachments
    to him specifically, and also generally:
    to any person, place, or thing,
    on any time continuum,
    that is no longer for my highest and best good, and healing...
    I release all of these things now, and forevermore,
    and I watch them dissolve into the nothingness, from which they came...
    Thank you, thank you, thank you
    - IT IS DONE! 🙏
    And here are 13 gentle and urgent reminders:
    1. You're ALWAYS exactly where you are supposed to be
    2. Self-esteem is measured by you (nobody else gets to decide your worth)
    3. Get rid of fear: FOREVER!!!
    4. When things are tough, change the way you see things...
    5. Don't dwell on/in the past (come back to this present moment!)
    6. It's only temporary (all of it!)
    7. You have what it takes
    8. You don't need to change
    9. Release your need for control
    10. Accept. Allow. Breathe. Deep.
    11. Remember where you came from
    12. Remember that you are not alone (not ever!)
    13. Remember who you are
