I watched a YT docu on this wreck and it’s the first time RUclips recommends have come up trumps. This is a superb piece of work grateful to be able to see it: given there’d be no guarantee that the weather would make flying or visibility possible during a neap tide.
Forget about the birds, if that thing explodes it will take out all the town near by too. Apparently it's 30 times more powerful than the non nuclear bomb Russia made.
Not one P.M. has had the balls to do anything at ALL about this since THE WAR Didn't Boris STFU when he found out he couldn't have his floating airport. Now I'm from up north and hate going to London. But I Really Don't want to see my capital City Ruined. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
@@adammoorby99 True that's the general consensus, that "eh, it's probably fine". They tried removing the cargo of SS Kielce which broke most of the windows of the nearby town and dug a 20ft deep crater in the seabed, but that only had a fraction of the amount of explosives as the Richard Montgomery. Doing something might be more risky than doing nothing. Edit: the SS Kielce didn't break that many windows, but did damage chimneys, dislodge tiles and crack ceilings, and the seabed crater is apparently consistent with test explosions of 4 kiloton explosions.
The Star Stratos, Chiquita's refrigerated 'reefer' boat. I've heard of empty returning ships coming to the aid of loaded ships that have broken down. First time I've seen a picture of a marked ship!
Hi Robert Hunt. I'm a TV Researcher for a Discovery/Science Channel show. Do you have an email address I can contact you with to inquire about using your footage for our show? Thanks!
I live very nearby and I have always been tempted to paddle a kayak up to it but apparently local police are very harsh in handing out punishment for obvious reasons. Guaranteed prison time.
If the view of the wreck down through the water from a drone is almost impossible due to sediment in the water, then trying to view the wreck from underwater by divers while trying to remove the explosive cargo would also be almost impossible. Better to just blow it in place.
I agree that it is irresponsible for even a drone to fly too close to the wreck. I only learned yesterday how serious the problem is, and see the post-war growth of the Thames Estuary - instead of its evacuation - as a crime against the populations of Essex and Kent.
Hello there, I work for a British TV production company, and I would be interested in enquiring about licensing some of this drone footage. Please could you let me know a contact number or email address that I could reach you on? Many thanks, Sophie
Fantastic footage of the wreck well done. But would have been better without music, (can be switched off while viewing as no commentary) which sounds like the stuff you would play at a funeral which will of course be appropriate when the wreck explodes and this clip is shown on the news world wide with the ones of the devastation. Government report nearly 20 years ago said wreck would break up in 10-20 years. When this happens the munitions will spill all over the seabed if the cluster bombs with live fuses (only needs one of them to still be live) don't detonate the other bombs below when it collapses on to them that is. Once the bombs fused or not get out of the wreck without exploding straight away comes problem number two. For years fishermen have been dumping LIVE unexploded munitions picked up in their nets of all sorts near to the wreck because if they report to the coast guard will lose whole days fishing waiting for the bomb disposal people to come to collect and dispose of. The type and quantity condition and location are unknown. The wreck is safe to remove or make safe at present, but not safe to leave. It is only a matter of time…. And all this and more without the slightest warning! Even when the wreck just breaks up without any outside interference as all wrecks do over time and collapses upon itself, its contents will pollute the sea beaches and land and devastate marine life and natural habitats of birds and animals for miles around due to the contents of the holds. Another little problem is British Sea mines popping up still as dangerous as day they were laid in WWI and WWII. See: www.ssrichardmontgomery.com
It’s at *Neap Tide* that you mean; but no guarantee of favourable weather/visibility on one specific day of the month _(comments show this was indeed filmed at low tide)_
It’s really cool because I can see it every time I walk to school

If this blows you won't need a rocket to fly through space
There are pictures out there of the wreck at unusually low tide, it's still not low enough to see much, certainly not deck level
Holy Crap. Awesome footage, I'm in sheppey now, fascinated by the SS Richard Montgomery. Super spooky!
Bad luck mate if that goes your house goes too I would think about selling if I were you!
Excellent, excellent video!
insane range, my drone cant fly that far
Where the hell were you standing? I've a P3 and wouldn't dare fly that far over water. guess I need to grow a pair, lol.
A P3 ? is that a Lockheed P3 ?
If those birds only knew...
Forget about the birds, if that thing explodes it will take out all the town near by too. Apparently it's 30 times more powerful than the non nuclear bomb Russia made.
LMFAO

Great footage....and it didn't explode which is a good thing :)
yet...
It’s been there since 1945 and not exploded yet so i reckon it will be fine

nice vid.

The water has the visibility of chocolate pudding.

Wouldn't want to live near that, if it explodes everyone in your town is dead.
yeah, dont even think about it, i live on sheppey and you a posting a huge risk to life, i live in fear because of this bloody ship

Ask why not here after reading this lot....

If they blow up the wreck, a few towns will go with it
Don’t fly too close! It’ll blow up!

Just tow it up to London. Let them deal with it.

after reading that the music seems quite appropriate if you ask me.
Oft course he Filmes at high tide
Civis Hamburgum this was low tide, if it was high tide you wouldn't of been able to see any of the wreck
so thats how all the drugs get into London! container ship looks like its going to run aground! there cant be much clearance?
Go back at low tide!
