I can't argue with any of that, so I'll just say hello Scott. Of all the coffee farms in Nicaragua, who do you feel taste the best. I don't worry about dark or light roast, They both can be wonderful.
An FYI/follow up on the incident. I've still been in contact with one of the pair that were jumped. They are both fine, just embarrassed that they did the one thing you don't do: Wander the streets drunk at three in the morning. Positive, helpful response from the police. Totally free medical attention for what was honestly a fairly minor injury. Lesson learned. As far as today's topic. I think I'm glad I didn't move there sight unseen, even though I was going to. I'm sure it would have been fine, but I think the way I'm doing it now with a cultural/logistics ice breaker first trip under my belt. One more, more extended visit coming up before my actual move. Just a bit less steep of a learning curve and less stressful I think. Then again, maybe just diving in would be easier. lol.
Great video as always SAM but i gotta give my 2 cents in the matter. The idea that crime doesnt like heat isn't my experience at all. Salvador da bahia is one of the hottest and most dangerous cities in brazil (i fell victim Multiple times there)... Cartagena is considered one of the most dangerous places in colombia and its by far the hottest. (I never had an issue there) My summary: i see it more of a combination of opportunities (ports with tons of corruption) and historical factors (history of slavery and being marginalized for decades) that causes it. Great vid 🎉
Granada is an amazing start to live. paved and clear roads to airport... the city roads are paved. the people seem laid back and nice. restaurants are amazing. even the gyms. plenty NICE rentals on airbnb for less than 1200 a month.
about 830p they start coming by on bikes. and the locals on the patrolled block pays 30 dollars each a month for them. the older people don't have to pay. not every one pays but obviously enough people pay for them to service a given block. and they use whistles all night hahahah I asked a local paying customer and she wasn't even sure why.@@ScottAlanMillerVlog
It's not horrible. Just be aware that tons of the info is incorrect. I KNOW people who list on there and have things listed at like $200/mo but it's actually that a night, or the location is hours away from where it states, or they say money in the wrong currency so you are off by huge amounts. Only a tiny number of properties available are on there, and assume everything is misinformation. It's often illiterate or tech illiterate people posting info and they often don't understand the currencies, designations, terms, or assume you'll figure it out from context. But even locals do use it to see what is out there. So not the worst. But, it's a pain to try to get good info out of.
ATM. The simplest answer. Deposit in the US as always. Pull from an ATM. Same as with a paycheck. You CAN send to a Nica bank but that's super complicated and risky and i can't think of any benefit. Just "do nothing" and everything just works. You can access US banks from any ATM or wire transfer.
Think of it like being on vacation. How do you access your pension on a weekend trip? On a month long trip? On a year long excursion? Moving to a new country can be nothing more than an indefinite vacation. Banking isn't necessarily impacted in any way at all.
That can't happen. It's completely ludicrous. It's not just that it'll never happen and that it would be exactly what triggers uprising in any other country that has ever tried that. It's not just that it's illegal since it is those expat's money. It's not just that it is a totally fabricated threat from scared people trying to bully you with something implausible. It's also logistically impossible, the US cannot define who is and isn't living outside of the US. The very idea that something like this could be implemented is based on a misunderstanding of what being an expat even is. And let's imagine the impossible world where this did happen, just move back. Voila, no threat at all. As impossible as this would be, you are only back to where you started, no penalty. Listen to no one that tells you this. It's not within the realm of a reasonable concern. There are so many things that you can be afraid of from the US that are still very unlikely, extreme cases, like all women being rounded up and enslaved, or the borders being closed and the whole country turning into an open air prison - SO unlikely, but far more likely than this.
Probably is not good idea to ask him that question. He can't talk about political issues, just for his own safety . I am from Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and I know why I said that.

two things I didn't like was motorcycle noise all day and security guards in certain parts blow whistles all night .
We get horrible moto noise. But I've never encountered the whistle thing.

Have you covered the new constitutional amendments down here yet? I'm curious to get your take if you feel comfortable sharing.
What do you think of looking for rentals on Facebook Marketplace

Scott, if i go to live in Nicaragua with my retirement, how i get my pension in Nicaragua?

What happens if the car gets stolen after entering nica 😉
file a police report. and don't get caught still having it!!
Absolutely DO NOT move to Nicaragua without visiting. No ifs no buts.
Please give me your thoughts on expats losing SS check if living out of the country. Is it possible that Trump puts that law into place?
