Cool vid! I just grabbed a used 980ti Classified (Last year, $650. Today, less than half that!) Dunno if I'm doing something wrong, or if I just lost the silicon lottery. But I can only get a measly +43 with maxed power limit in MSI AB, for a total boost clock of just 1460 : (.. Haven't thrown any extra voltage at it yet, but I'm not holding my breath. And I've got a 79% ASIC Quality rating!
The Classified Cards are Meant to be left alone.....and allowed to be able to overclock on their own. That's why the already have the highest base and boost clocks to begin with and then with auto boost depending on your ambient conditions it will reach its max on its own.
Great video. Watched trough all of those gameplay benchmarks. Unfortunately the settings on 1440p are all blacked out, you've probably noticed that. 4K and 1440p performance seemed very similar on BF4. Were you running 4xmsaa at 1440p?

Can you explain the apparent 'controversy' around nvidia and their lack of full asynchronous compute support? I still don't truly get that as I am sort of new to graphics card architecture.
I got a 1080p 27" ips monitor yesterday, id rather have better fps and be able to buy this card next month so its a no brainer :D. Thanks for the vid, very helpful indeed, dont think I would be able to notice much between 1080p and 1440p anyway + the price of 1440ips monitors are crazy high atm.

Mine 74,1% asic quality On air goes 115 power limit 1502 Mhz and 4001Mhz memory but one thing,cooling doesn't work after overclocking. Fan speed until 1800 rpm is OK but higher it's like a jet-resolve it can only waterblock.Fan speed in idle all the time 15% other way it reaches 50/60 Celsius in fan stop mode after some time. I'm changing now case to Phanteks enthoo pro tempered glass so probably be better with the temps. In conclusion,great GPU (cost me 380e) with the 27 inch Aoc G-sync monitor it's perfect for gaming. Nothing else needed.
Thing is, with an ASIC of 65% the card has more voltage leakage at higher temps. If you would use a custom cooling loop to keep the card as cool as possible, it will overclock significantly more than high ASIC cards. Even with a Classified you are subject to chance.. Maybe you could get higher speeds if you would have the fan spinning at 100% constantly, keeping the temps low. Or did you do that in your testing? How does the noise sound like from the fan? (In case I will ever get my hands on one)

Keep in mind that not all games are optimized for SLI. I have to keep changing the configuration when I change games, which gets annoying especially if you forget which games are better with a single card.

I was almost tempted to replace my Titan X with this one, as in return and get a 980Ti EVGA Classified.. but guess what? this thing costs about 300-400 more than the EVGA Titan X in my area lol. OC'd my Titan X and it runs not only faster, but has more Vram and i got it cheaper than this..

in battlefield 4 at 1080p you get a constant 100+fps with this card, whilst on the gigabyte g1 gaming 980ti video review in battlefield 4 at 1080p you only get 60+fps and sometimes below, is the difference really that much or were different in game settings used?
What about idle temps? Mine is idling at 65°C at 1025-1040 mVolts, seems way too high. My previous 970 strix was idling at 40°C - max 50°C I kind of want to send it back because of this. It's annoying to hear the fan´s go on and off all the time, because the card is on that temperature sweatspot. Mmh thats strange, now that i am using another monitor via dvi instead of displayport, its back to normal, idling at 40°C ... what the hell?
the fan would be extremely loud especially if you do not have headphones which would be annoying, it would be better for temperatures but would be annoying :)
See I thought about this question myself because I'm trying to decide between a 980ti FTW or a 1080 SC, but the 1080 will of course have back order issues for awhile so I think I'm going to go with a higher variant of a 980ti.
I bought a 980ti classy and I love it, but I feel it's kind of waste since I'm going to keep it on air, but I got it for only $10 more than a FTW so...
this one has 14+3 which means that it can overclock better than the ftw edition,also you can get a waterblock for this,ftw doesn't have any waterblock compatible,now depends on your budget,I would go with the classified
+theandroids There is very little price difference between them - on EVGA site FTW is 750 and classified 760 euro, so might as well go for the classified. I found mine another online store for 717e a week ago and today it's 760e, so pricing fluctuations are bigger than cost difference between these two.
This guy must have terrible case cooling. My card doesn't get nearly as hot. He's running 76c~ under heavier stress and far more overclock mine rarely touches 60c in a phantom 820

Just use a 21.5 1080p monitor. It's has the same PPI as a 27" 1440p monitor.
Reminds me of my LG 22MP56 IPS, smaller screen but excellent PPI. I sit close enough that it works out great.

You wouldn't ever drop below 100 fps at 1080p with a 980ti even with MSAA to the max.

See I thought about this question myself because I'm trying to decide between a 980ti FTW or a 1080 SC, but the 1080 will of course have back order issues for awhile so I think I'm going to go with a higher variant of a 980ti.
