An Easter egg in this game that I never see anyone mention is that the Guardian Of Metal gets increasingly pissed if you keep driving in and out of the Motor Forge.

...That's not an Easter Egg, that's just the natural progression of the dialogue. You don't have to constantly enter/exit the forge over and over, you're just burning through the dialogue so it *SEEMS* like he's getting annoyed with you because of your actions. 33:28 - To those in the comments shaking their head at this, this deserves its own comment filling you in on why this isn't even *CLOSE* to being unusual, let alone stupid. 1) You need to know that the game *NEVER* tutorializes or even _MENTIONS_ unit upgrading at *ANY* point in the game. Not once. You *HAVE* to figure it out for yourself. 2) Unlike something like Fusion: Genesis, where a lot of the information is in the menus and you have to dig around and learn things for yourself (or follow a certain guide on GameFAQs) the game mostly puts everything right in front of you, so you'd have no *REASON* to go looking for more information. 3) Unit upgrades *only* apply to Tier *ONE* units, the Headbangers, Razor Girls, and Thunderhogs. That's it. Most importantly 4) In addition to never being tutorialized, the option first appears in the final battle with Lionwyte, and only after getting the Tier *THREE* stage upgrade. An upgrade that is required then, and for ALL future times you want them upgraded. That last thing is *VERY* important for so many reasons. You are in the biggest battle of the game up to that point, the game is *NOT* turn based so you don't have a lot of time to dick around in the menus, you've _already_ done battles several times so you're already familiar with the interface anyway, you want to make decisions as fast as possible, and on top of *ALL* of that, you're *ALREADY* being introduced to *TWO* new units! (The Rhodies AND the Headsplitter Tanks) Both of which are things players (most anyway... (looks judgementally as Spazmatic Banana)) would take greater notice of and use more frequently along with other later units because they're so much more powerful than the Tier 1 units. For most players, by the time they get to Tier 2, they're building a bunch of tanks and Fire Barons whenever they get the chance and not even BOTHERING with Tier 1 units. Let alone worrying about them at Tier 3! However, even when they are, for something like Thunderhogs to heal non-vehicle units, by this point in the game, you're making decisions and building units so fast that it's pretty much a reflex at that point. There's no time to even register that there's new text because the menu disappears faster than you can even acknowledge its existence! This is why it's so painfully easy to not only go through the entire game, but do so *MULTIPLE TIMES* without ever knowing about the upgrade system. In fact, if I recall correctly, the only places where unit upgrades are mentioned are when you're at Tier 3 and hovering over the unit in the radial menu, and in text in the Rhodie notebook. Text that I don't think appears until the battle with Lionwyte, so even if you *WERE* diligent about reading on lore and stuff you *STILL* wouldn't learn about it! (Not 100% sure because my 360 isn't working so I can't check even though I've played the game so much the disc is now stuck in the console.) So yeah, imagine a game mechanic that isn't even *PRESENT* until about halfway/a 3rd of the way into the game, it's never tutorialized, never mentioned, doesn't even become *AVAILABLE* until partway through missions, the first time it appears you're being introduced to a brand new unit to get to grips with, and the more time goes on, the less time you're going to spend in the menu where the text telling you about the system appears because you're going to be doing things faster and faster. I don't care *HOW* many playthroughs you have of the game, it's a goddamn miracle the mechanic gets learned about AT *ALL.*
I fucking forgot about this game till you started tweeting about it and holy fuck thank you for helping me rediscover this. Perfect two people to show off this game honestly 30:06: The Brutal Legends incident
I saw videos of this game when I was young and let me tell you, those giant puma riding women left an impact on my psyche that rooted itself deeper than I should allow
Your upload schedule is like a cool uncle at family gatherings. They just show up, do some cool shit, tell a cool story, then disappear until popping up again. So cool. :)
Tbh the RTS part is the easiest one if you do Hunter missions. Call of the Wild basically gives you a second construction que. Early game you would get two Snapjaws(or 4, since you retain those you had before the mission started and solo cooldown is set back to 0. Or 6-8 if you just did a side mission beforehand). After you cross the bridge, you can upgrade Call of the Wild all the way to Mastodon(or whatever it's called), which is a great damage sponge. And yes, you can just fly to enemy stage, unleash several solos and fly back. Just remember that melee units s//ck and aren't worth the investment beyond 1 or 2, that will tie enemy down. Vampiric axe is also a thing and the most reliable way to drag Edi through final boss as it's the only way to significantly boost staying power.
Brutal legend is my fav game, I'm glad to see a video of it in '23. For the final fight against Ophelia, you can definitely take the two merch booths in front of her stage. And when she starts spamming Reapers, upgraded razor girls with thunder hogs can deal with them the quickest. (I too, have had trouble with that mission a few times)
Best advice I can give against Horse dudes: Double team with Lemmies (trike healer bassist dudes) and stun note the horse dudes, it’ll freeze them and allow your peeps to kill ‘em immediately. Also another tip: During the first sea of black tears fight keep ANYTHING defending the bridge so that the drowning doom (emo dudes) don’t get through and take your merch booths. These strategies were the ones that made that level easier for me.
27:53 I felt a similar way when I played it when I was younger. And then I realized that like 3 casts of the Super Unit's double team kills the stage. It's fuckin' busted, lol.
I never had a problem with Ophelia's section but the final mission with Doviculus? The amount of times that demon has taken my eyes will forever haunt me.
This game was a defining memory in my childhood growing up and definitely influenced my tastes in music, it has great sense of humor and is a love letter to Metal culture as a whole, so great to see this game get some attention even all these years later, an underrated gem in the xbox 360 catalog. Also fun fact, General Lyonwhite's hair is broken only in the PC version of the game, that's how you tell when someone is playing on PC instead of 360.
That stage fight really is terrible without upgrading your units. Even with the final tank is BARELY doable. I don't even want to remember how many tries took me finish it. THEN in my second run I found out you could upgrade my units did it again... and it was a breeze in the park... I hated that realization SO F*KING MUCH Still hoping for a brutal Legend sequel
I love this game , first ps3 game I ever got. You can ride any animal in the game and a fully upgraded call of the wild let’s you summon the mammoth dudes if I remember correctly. The cherry on top is you can instantly ride any animal summoned so free mammoth mount. Edit: And how could I forget Tim Curry is the voice behind the final boss!
Double Fine said the sequal to Brutal Legend was tied to the success of Psychonauts 2. They do have Microsoft money backing them up so who knows how true that is anymore.
You've beaten this game more than five times and you didn't know about upgrading units ? HOW ?! Also skipping the start and not showing the reaction to the creepy and sexy nun ? As man. Besides that, great vid as always. Good to see the game get some publicity, it could certainly use it.
I know we will never get a sequel to brutal legend, but I live for any game that relishes in metal. Even if power metal is my jam, and is rarely represented.
My first playthrough was way more difficult than necessary because I didn't know how to release the dragon statues(since it never directly says anywhere) and thus Eddie never got the health and damage upgrades. But this game is criminally underrated, deserves a proper sequel, and some mad lad out there made a d&d setting book for it and it's pretty amazing.
Oh hey thank you for making a video on this game so I don't have to play it myself after A: I was not made aware you could upgrade units B: I was not made aware hard difficulty was a pain in the ass for no reason
I will never forgive Double Fine for all the misleading promotional material leading up to the release of this game. We were sold a badass open world hack 'n slash with a Heavy Metal aesthetic, and we got that for the first hour followed by a shitty console RTS for the rest of the game. Soundtrack is still fucking awesome though.
Tim Schaefer actually said EA advertising was misleading because they kept trying to sell it as a hack-and-slash type game. But it is true the game is everywhere..
Bro the last two stages are easy quickly sand all unit's to all the fan geysers then send them to the bridge for the 1 stage the second stage for the coiled stage have the call of the wild with the tullosks and quickly send them to the other head and then quickly drive into the head and have the Sqiler sauce for the drewed plow and have all car upgrades welcom to who ever need help bye the way i played this game in 2013 and finished it and start the game on gentle and then when you think you're ready for a harder difficulty use the shockers guitar and coiled electricity axe welcome
When this game first came out, I loved it as a sort of "Metal Zelda" game. That is until it turn into an RTS, which wasn't a gameplay style I was a fan of, so I ended up dropping it. Still, I love the style, theme, and humor. Wish I stuck to it more than I did.
If I had a nickel for everytime Spaz mentioned that one saints row mission I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
I wonder if he knows that you can break S&M gear on Bound Serpents and those upgrade your passive HP abilities for every 10 Seprents freed(there's a total of 120). Here's an incomplete list from GameFAQs: 10 - Ormagoden's Flesh - +10% Max Health 20 - Ormagoden's Blood - +10% Health Regen Rate 30 - Ormagoden's Scream - +5% Regen Bonus for Allied Troops 40 - Ormagoden's Fire - +10% Faster Flight Speed 50 - Ormagoden's Flesh - +10% Max Health (+20% Total) 60 - Ormagoden's Blood - +10% Health Regen Rate (+20% Total) 70 - Ormagoden's Scream - +5% Regen Bonus for Allied Troops (+10% Total) 80 - Ormagoden's Fire - +10% Faster Flight Speed (+20% Total)
oh my god, i genuinely had no idea the upgrades were different for each tier, i could've swore the game only says you get blunt health/health regen upgrades for eddie each 10 serpents, but if i had known they give flight speed and ally regen i would've focused on them so much more, thank you infinitely for bringing this to my attention because i imagine this playthrough would've gone a lot smoother had i not intentionally stopped hunting for them after i got 20 xd
aah this game was something unique The Metal covers worthy Landscapes The Metalhead tropes, that never mocks nor ridicule Metal, but still has a little bit of fun with it And the Voice acting of so many Metal bands/vocalists monsters This game was such a treat, shame that it was so niche that EA never saw it as a commercial succes and a sequel was never greenlit. Would have loved to see Double Fin do a sequel where they could hav'e worked on the game's kinks and mistakes to delive something even Better + the Lore of the game itself is Metal as fuck and really interesting, you get the full Lore of the Genesis of this world once you find and free All the 100 Dragon statues scattered around the game.
also, just a note: the clipping glitches are only found on PC. The port isn't the greatest, so modders usually like to work on tiny fixes for it. PS3 and Xbox 360 do not have this glitch.
I really hope this game gets a remaster soon. Revitalize the multiplayer and maybe more side content. Ever since I beat it Ive been waiting for the sequel. Its got a higher chance of happening than Bully 2 at least, maybe.
honestly love this game. I also didn't know that you could upgrade units but I never had that kinda a problem with the final level. My biggest complaint is that there was no real anti deamon campain to it

Also fun fact, General Lyonwhite's hair is broken only in the PC version of the game, that's how you tell when someone is playing on PC instead of 360.
3:28 the Screaming Wall sounds Slaaneshi.
The concept rings of Mekhane
@@quantumblur_3145the Broken God?
That stage fight really is terrible without upgrading your units. Even with the final tank is BARELY doable. I don't even want to remember how many tries took me finish it. THEN in my second run I found out you could upgrade my units did it again... and it was a breeze in the park... I hated that realization SO F*KING MUCH
Still hoping for a brutal Legend sequel
God, imagine a remake and its all modern metal
Blasting Meshuggah as you fight eldritch horrors beyond your comprehension
I love this game , first ps3 game I ever got. You can ride any animal in the game and a fully upgraded call of the wild let’s you summon the mammoth dudes if I remember correctly. The cherry on top is you can instantly ride any animal summoned so free mammoth mount.
Edit: And how could I forget Tim Curry is the voice behind the final boss!
I don't even know why, but like 10 seconds into this video, this moth has somehow made me laugh. EXCELLENT JOB!
The only reason I ever kept my 360 was for brutal legend. I loved every bit of it. Even cut and pasted the lore for a mythology class final. Got a A
Your channel is an anomoly in terms of what videos get the most views and I love it.
love the fact that this game is not totally forgotten thank you for spending your time on playing this game i loved as a child
Because the game doesn't explain or even *MENTION* it at all. It's fucking stupid.
This is the first video I've seen from you and it's from my favorite game and it's god damn funny. I love it so much
Tbh Brutal Legend taught me how good metal can be and I really love it for that.
I know we will never get a sequel to brutal legend, but I live for any game that relishes in metal.
Even if power metal is my jam, and is rarely represented.
You know with how music use fees are these days I don't think that brutal legend could ever have been made today. Glad we got it when we did
Oh yes Brutal Legend 2 as a Samurai Warriors clone would amazing.
*Dynasty
12:18 *anime scream or moan*
*spazmatic banana laughing*
T-t-the game paused itself!
That's the fucking Obi Wan mount sound thingy
And also the cry of Palkia in one of the pokemon movies.
i just want to let you two know that my brain has decided to associate both halves of itself with your voices
The one guy sounds like the Helluva Boss voice actor for Blitzo.
Only cowards mute the soundtrack to avoid DMCA! Good to see you still kept it on.
Shoutout to the hunstman questline
Something about rolling around naked in mammoth fur.
*Hextadon
Oh hey thank you for making a video on this game so I don't have to play it myself after A: I was not made aware you could upgrade units B: I was not made aware hard difficulty was a pain in the ass for no reason
Man, am I going to need to re-install this game? I guess I am.
this game saved my life, happy you're having fun with it!! I've been playing since release :D
Dude i grew up on this game, double fine was such a good studio, god bless this game
god that last level is still a ballbuster all these years later
This game was so damn epic!! Needs a sequel so bad
I wonder if Ossy Osborne has even had contact with Skibiti Toilet
When this game first came out, I loved it as a sort of "Metal Zelda" game. That is until it turn into an RTS, which wasn't a gameplay style I was a fan of, so I ended up dropping it. Still, I love the style, theme, and humor. Wish I stuck to it more than I did.
Love this game, and even I didnt even know you could upgrade units…
33:29 - I...I don’t even know what to say.
This both explains everything and left me speechless.
GLad I found someone who appreciates this odd jewel of gaming as much as I did back in the day
If I had a nickel for everytime Spaz mentioned that one saints row mission I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
1:50 The Iced Earth song "Stormrider". Nice. Edit: No wait its "Pure Evil". I had to figure that out from memory.
I wonder if he knows that you can break S&M gear on Bound Serpents and those upgrade your passive HP abilities for every 10 Seprents freed(there's a total of 120). Here's an incomplete list from GameFAQs:
10 - Ormagoden's Flesh - +10% Max Health
20 - Ormagoden's Blood - +10% Health Regen Rate
30 - Ormagoden's Scream - +5% Regen Bonus for Allied Troops
40 - Ormagoden's Fire - +10% Faster Flight Speed
50 - Ormagoden's Flesh - +10% Max Health (+20% Total)
60 - Ormagoden's Blood - +10% Health Regen Rate (+20% Total)
70 - Ormagoden's Scream - +5% Regen Bonus for Allied Troops (+10% Total)
80 - Ormagoden's Fire - +10% Faster Flight Speed (+20% Total)
oh my god, i genuinely had no idea the upgrades were different for each tier, i could've swore the game only says you get blunt health/health regen upgrades for eddie each 10 serpents, but if i had known they give flight speed and ally regen i would've focused on them so much more, thank you infinitely for bringing this to my attention because i imagine this playthrough would've gone a lot smoother had i not intentionally stopped hunting for them after i got 20 xd
9:36 Honestly a Dynasty Warriors brutal legend game sounds awesome
Brought back some memories, thank you
aah this game was something unique
The Metal covers worthy Landscapes
The Metalhead tropes, that never mocks nor ridicule Metal, but still has a little bit of fun with it
And the Voice acting of so many Metal bands/vocalists monsters
This game was such a treat, shame that it was so niche that EA never saw it as a commercial succes and a sequel was never greenlit.
Would have loved to see Double Fin do a sequel where they could hav'e worked on the game's kinks and mistakes to delive something even Better
+ the Lore of the game itself is Metal as fuck and really interesting, you get the full Lore of the Genesis of this world once you find and free All the 100 Dragon statues scattered around the game.
You mean the 13 legends
15:07, Oh hey, you guys called me?
also, just a note: the clipping glitches are only found on PC.
My biggest complaint is that there was no real anti deamon campain to it
37:10 I would be a similar way to the likes of Farcry Instincts and the Timesplitters games. But then I remember what happened with the likes of Far Cry 6, Saints Row 2022, Battlefield V, and Assassins Creed Syndicate and realize "Yeah maybe those are better left untouched".
jack blacket
love that this video came up on my recommended when i find my signed copy of brutal legend XD
The funniest thing in this game is they figured out that theres a upgrade system *at the end of what could possibly be their 8th playthrough*
