I've been wanting to build this since 5 years old since seeing this. I'm 10 now and finally, I can build it. I think I'm going to be using birch wood, but maybe a different type of wood will be better. I'm still thinking what to make the gears [for mechanical advantage] out of. I'll edit the comment with an image of a prototype.
Omg this is so so cool omg I can't explain how much I love these things thank you so much I love your project so much also it came out so good thank you for what you do just finding this video made me happy I love those kind of human powered machines with no need of electric power, I'm a big fan of yours, I'm so happy you made this project I can't even relax seing how much I'm in ecstasy for this. Long live the builders
nice work. maybe you could add a metal flywheel at the axle to add inertia & make the fan more powerful (and to let it spin for longer without so much input)
It takes more electricity, consumes more water, and produces more carbon to feed and hydrate the human power source, than it would to just hook up the fan to commercial power or solar cells. Nevertheless, I admire the ingenuity.
but it also has an educational role, it instigate people to keep on being creative, shows that people can do things with their own hands instead of buy and also argues that the use of hand-crancked devices could be wider in terms of ideas more explored by industry. The feeding an the hydration would happen anyway, but the mind and the body working have extra benefits out of the energy eficiency thinking.
Ik denk dat er nog een erg lange afschrijftermijn is, vooraleer dat deze milieuvriendelijk wordt. Gezien de hoge bouwkwaliteit is dat echter niet uitgesloten.
You think you going to be able to make that fan portable with somehow using a mod of a boat popper basically fire heats up metal and makes pop sounds what makes the boat go in water could you somehow modify the fire by using the sun to heat up the base of the Pauper that runs in through copper tubing that makes pressure like a steam train boat that causes the fan to move powered by the Sun?
Nice thing, and I am jealous about having these metal working possibilities at your hand. What kind of gear is it, that you use? I hoped you would say something about it in the video. Where is it from? Is it readily available, and what is the gear ratio?
+Dieter Willen Hi Dieter, Its a worm gearbox, I think it was a 1/10. I got it local. but if you google for "worm gearbox" you will find plenty. Thanks!
***** yeah, best combo there is in my opinion. It was a big investment for me. But with projects like this one. I get at least some of the money back :)
***** It's a metal mill, so the main spindle maxes at 3000 rpm. More than enough for steel, but if you want to do aluminium or wood or do engraving, you really want something higher for milling at a reasonable speed.
Cool project, but I'm not a fan.
:)
I'm working on a balancing robot, not so different from the one you made. Your videos are very helpful.
Thanks :) Glad to hear that.
Still working on it or was it complete?
The fan? yes, it was finished. Some poor guy spend a couple of days wearing it :D

Do I see evidence of the cube?

I love the fact that you build really awesome things as well as play calming classical music in your videos.
Really cool videos you got, definitely got yourself a new subscriber :)
I will buy one of you can make it to me a ship one and I will pay good name your price
I'd hate to be the poor sod operating it for any length of time.
Kikkoman Supra I made the final version shorter than the one in the video, so it should be ok. But yeah, glad I don't have to do it :D

Rad!
Again I am saying I will buy this if you make it and pay for shipping
For when they pass the no gas powered gardening tools law... Funnel the air and you got a hand crank leaf blower!
sir what is that gearbox u have used ??
advanced punkawallah work

hi Kris I need to get in contact with you? let me know how thank you
+Ee vert you can find my mail on my website www.neuroproductions.be/
if it's a specific question about a video, please ask it in the comments
Very nice project, cool workshop. And immpressive craftsmanship

What’s the little cube gear you used for the hand pedals called?
Leonardo Da Vinci ;)
you should of put a flywheel on it, stores energy
*adds a motor*
Those tools! Nice use of them. Subscribed.

good project , thank!
Superb 👍
Why?
Man, I wish I had a workshop like yours.
The things you can do with a mill + lathe combo are endless.
***** yeah, best combo there is in my opinion. It was a big investment for me. But with projects like this one. I get at least some of the money back :)
***** May I ask why you opted for an external spindle on your mill?
***** It's a metal mill, so the main spindle maxes at 3000 rpm. More than enough for steel, but if you want to do aluminium or wood or do engraving, you really want something higher for milling at a reasonable speed.
***** I see. _vibrates excitedly waiting for his own mill to arrive_
nice job!
Fei Shan Thanks :)
Useless and overengineered.. but pretty nice job anyways.
thanks, but no thanks :)
