This video explanation was a prayer anaswered! I am being bothered by alot of untruths I have been taught and I desire to understand (within context) the WORD of God!
Acts 15 is a manifestation of what you’re teaching! The Lord led me recently around what is bound also in the books that were written which include doctrine the apostles were taught by the Spirit. Especially as it related to gentile converts to Christ.
I love you bro but i have to say... "Beware, the road to hell is paved with signs, banners and the wreckaged of many well meaning good intentions". Your points are excellent and your exogesis easily understood....I was going to make another argument but you smoked it while i was writing. Praise our "omnipresent" God. That was what we call a hammer. Even if I was to give so argument so arrogant, as that God changes his mind. A few verses come to mind immediately regarding many spirits who are together and of one mind, Whose petition was not granted due to their wickedness or the need for their patience and the fulness of time. Beware still. But I will be paving that road for a bit. Keep truckin. Yes i have learned my lesson. "Let it finish, wait till the end of the video. Hear the man out" Great video
This is a lovely scripture yet also one that when taken out of context or as a stand alone, can actually weaken faith, making the people think we need another to experience God's presence and this is not the case for there are numerous scriptures which state clearly that God is within us. Lol, I didnt listen to the video yet just now glanced at a few comments.....well done.
Hi, John, Andrew Sargent grew up in the church I attended - his father Paul was actually the one that told me about the church and invited me. I am in contact with Andrew and he said you and him are co-laborers. Now I saw underneath this video Andrew's name which I had not seen before. Keep teaching and preaching.
They did NOT misuse it. This guy is simply wrong. Jesus is with us any time - even when there are only 2 or 3 of us, not only when we have the minyan of 10 adult males that the Jewish Talmud required. THAT is what Jesus is talking about in verse 20, not judicial witnesses.
Heavenly father, thank you for this message and explanation online which I agree with: Matthew 18:15-20 King James Version (KJV) 15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. So it shall be, things outspoken or in defense when one is not willing to listen with members of the body of Christ and the heavenly father, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen.
Hello Sir John after long back see you in online teaching here today fast time visiting your channel... Just surprise teaching after my college class...
I don't see this as a problem of "out-of-context." The **Promise** is that God will be there for you in the sometimes unpleasant business of confrontation & restoration/exclusion. The **Principle** that backs this up is that God will be there "where two or three are gathered together in my name." It's a guarantee God will be with you in this endeavor. That is backed up in numerous places: 2 Cor 6: 16 “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them” [note the plural] but also the 'I will be with you' 'I will never leave you' 'I will not leave you as orphans' [note also the plural] verses. So because this is a universal principle, we need not fear that referring this passage to general gathering of believers is misusing the text. We do need the context so we can see how Jesus is applying the principle in this case. Some will try and make a reductio ad absurdum joke out of it by asking "but doesn't God make himself known to individuals?" Yes, but - 1) You are never actually alone 2) most of the NT examples of God moving in power seem to be in gatherings of some sort: The Spirit coming down Acts Ch 2 & 4, Paul & Silas [Ch 18] Stephen [Ch 6 note v 8 "among the people"] Philip & the Ethiopian Eunuch [ch 8] Negatively, Annanias & Saphira [ch 5] - these are just a few examples. If anything, Matt 18 seems to be there to *remind* us that the gathering of 2 or more to confront an erring brother or sister "is" an event as solemn and as important as prayer or corporate worship.
I agree with you, bro. This popular verse has become "a manipulative verse " for many individual Protestant pastors to breakaway and to start. his own individual, independent churches .
Does anyone know where I can find an audio recording of this vs spoken in the original language it was written in, or that Lord Jesus would have spoken it in.
GOD JESUS CHRIST WHO BRINGS US INTO GOD OUR TRUE HEAVENLY ETERNAL ALL POWERFUL FATHER WITH GOD THEY'RE HOLY SPIRIT IN GOD JESUS CHRIST BODILY...IS THERE FOR JUST ONE IN HIS HIGH HOLY PRESENCE.............
Several times believers gathered and prayed in Acts of the Apostles. The point of this video is to say we completely missed what the passage was about and we’re misapplying it. Wild I know but he made a sound argument for it.
It comes from Matthew when Jesus taught that people don’t follow the habit of the Pharisees who intentionally prayer publicly to impress. He asked people to pray privately instead. The idea of a prayer closet comes from here. It doesn’t mean you need a literal closet to pray. It is an image for private prayer. Mind you this teaching is not against public prayer. It is just a rebuke against prayers said in public to impress onlookers.
@@princeamoakwa4057 I actually found it the same day I asked the question. It did say to go to the inner room and close the door. Or something like that. Thank you for responding.
You have good words. I would recommend to you the book “The Starch Based Solution” by Dr. John McDougall. It has helped people who are very obese to be able to lose their weight and become a normal size.
Another misquote! Matthew 18:20 FOR WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED IN MY NAME, THERE AM I IN THE MIDST OF THEM. That's the verse from the King James! This is talking about if you have a fault against someone, or they have one against you. First go privately to work it out. Then if that failed, you take someone with you, and if that fails, bring it before the Church. There if he or you refuse to agree, remove him from the Church and treat him as a sinner. Then Jesus spoke Matthew 18:20. Which means if come together in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, He's there too!
Hi, I am just a little curious why you started scripture off using verses from the KJV & then continued using readings from the ESV? Just wondering tis all..thank you :)
Bubba, you MAY have a point on the wrongness of strength in numbers in prayer. God does not need volume of prayer to hear us. in fact verse 19 made it clear that 2 was plenty so why would you need more than enough?? BUt you jumped the shark when you decided that verses 18 - 20 ONLY apply to situations of church discipline. The text does NOT bear that out. Yes, the specific topic at hand WAS church discipline and Jesus discusses that in depth in verses15-17 significantly changing both the Old testament process which involved a court trial at the city gates and more importantly the maximum sentence. Old testament trials led to serious consequences up to and including the death sentence for many things. Jesus capped punishment at banishment and shunning. BUT... in verses 18-20 he shifts gears and applies some GENERAL pronouncements to this specific case. In 18 Jesus tells them that as a congregation they absolutely have the authority to judge their own members and regulate their affairs based to God's principles. This is NOT limited to formal disciplinary actions. In 19 he reminds them of what he said in Mat 7:&. They can ask God for anything, including but not limited to guidance on discipline matters. Disciple is not the only time we have access to God. This is CLEARLY a general principle. In Verse 20 Jesus again brings a general principle to bear on the specific problem and makes it clear that numbers do NOT influence God and are NOT important. A Jewish synagogue can not meet, worship or conduct business unless a quorum or minyan of 10 adult males is present. It is implied that less is not worth God's time. Jesus says plainly that this is traditional nonsense and NOT required. He will gladly show up for a gathering of even 2 or 3 (One person is NOT a meeting but God can still be with us) and he does NOT specify gender as the Talmud does. Clearly Jesus is not just talking about the disciplinary hearing here and He is definitely NOT talking about Deuteronomy witnesses in THIS verse. He IS saying that intent of gathering is important NOT size. Are you actually going to say that the only time Jesus attends one of our gatherings (maybe this IS true of YOUR gatherings) is when we are holding formal disciplinary actions, something only Catholics and the Amish have done in recent memory?? Are you daft?? Don't you know that it is the Spirit of Christ that indwells each Christian (Romans 8:10) and He is certainly there anytime even 2 or 3 meet, It don't take 10 adult males to get Him there. When we are alone, Jesus himself is the second person. Yes we should require at least 2 or 3 witnesses in discipline hearings and not go with he said, she said cases BUT that is NOT what verse 20 is about. Jesus was done with discipline and forgiveness and summed up using general principles - a normal oratory technique. It is Peter's daft question that brings the topic back to the specific of forgiveness. In verse 21 Peter is looking for loopholes to the earlier discussion on forgiveness in Luke 17:4 where Jesus says they must forgive the repentant 7 times. Jesus sees through Peter's ploy and gives him a ridiculously high number to shut him up and then tellls parables on the reason and manner of forgiveness.
Its a good explanation. But if we take it out of context. If 2 or more ppl pray...isnt Jesus there with us? When we pray alone.. He said close the door and pray to your Father in secret. My point is there is a difference. In corporate prayer and personal prayer. In discipline Jesus is saying i will be there when you do it. But as i am saying even if we take it out of context when two or there gather to worship Jesus is not there?
I agree one person of faith is enough for God to hear and answer prayer.
