You've found the exact reason why I never ever use slugs. One dupe drops an egg and all of a sudden everything is on fire because the slug decided to fart some hydrogen and ruin everything
Slugs allow very early high power supply. Three tamed is 4800 watts. The u just move all eggs to a large starve room with power cables and those supply alot of power as well. They and are cheap and easy to manage
@@toddblankenship7164just stop groomimg them. As long as they don't get cramped the power output os the same, they obly eat 80% less and dont produce more than 1 egg in their lives
@@ToppledTurtle834 groomed is 1600 and it's half that if they're not groomed but that may have changed. i like grooming them they produce massive power and are cheap and easy to maintain
@@toddblankenship7164 It must have changed. Just try it for yourself by disabling the grooming station for 2 cycles and see. Mine still give 1600 Watts as long as they are fed and not cramped. It seems to only reduce their hydrogen production as they eat less. Nice thing is that this way they don't require any attention from dups
instead of placing metal volcanoes in a steam bath, i keep mine in vacuum. currently i am only pitcher pumping liquid metals to a steam room, at the top of the map in space, but i am building a hot plate that i will be pouring bottles of liquid metal onto, which will go into a steam room that i am building nearby.
heavy watt joint plates going through the top portion of the vertical wall of the airlocks(not the tile that touches the oil the one above it). That lets you set a a door in the airlock and because the joint plates go into a vacuum they cant share temperature.
Haven’t watched the whole thing yet, but since the double liquid lock is a vacuum you can use a heavy watt tile instead of the wire through where the dupes walk. So you can have a door there to block critters. So replace one of the insulated tiles with a heavy watt wire shift plate… may have forgotten the name 😂, and this will free up the space for a door to block the plug slugs. And great video, really enjoy this series!
Good morning Echo! I hope you have been enjoying the series as much as I have. To me it's always "worth it" if you are enjoying it. Thanks for another great video!
mailing reekazon some wheezeworts/pips and geotuning the natgas geysers would help the power there a lot! if you geotune a vent enough you need 2 pumps to handle the output
@20:57 not much but could've just placed the bridge downward over the AT input to shorten the piping loop a bit and "if" super coolant is very limited especially early on, can also just make a short loop to cool a small brick of water and then ran the O2 pipe thru it or the big loop around the base with just water
im so happy this series still has a long way to go coz i don't want it to end yet, it's part of my bedtime playlist. i am still super enjoying the whole series, echo! keep up the amazing work, BOOP!👆
Maybe you should have cut-off the right half of the Sauna for the start? Everything right of the rightmost turbine and volcano wasn't needed for the start. So just seal it off at first. You could have later filled that area with shift plates and machinery as you actually needed that space. - you could ship some nuclear waste or Uranium from the main colony to Reekazon, to feed the Radbolt generators there. Waste is only is useless on the main colony 9:50 That probably was a Ugly Crier? IIRC, they produce Salt Water as a stress reaction.
I never bother vacuuming high pressure rooms. Just a door crusher on a switch in a hole at the top and bottom works, is much easier and can resolve whoopsies too. If your coolant loop goes through the water, then the temperature of the base after that is the temperature of the water. If that gets hot, everything gets hot. I wouldn't use radiant pipes at all honestly, since if there's a heat spike anywhere it chucks it right round the base. Granite normal pipes make the temperature flow slower, which is safer and more stable.
Sauna will be used all times, the difference is how you do that, you can do only for steel (other metals from volcanos) and make just a closed room with pipes that transfer heat into it keep the refineries out of it, you can put into if you want, but not required. The point I belive is impportant is - how much space we want on it, I belive tha sauna of the video is too much large, but will work too, depends of you want. You cant choose a small area without decor bonus or some a little large to include decor items or like the video with massive area, all them will works, all depends of planet, resources, geysers, base location on the map, your layouts/preferences...
You should make a multistage cooler for all the metals. Make them circle the top while they're hottest, then down as they cool down, then to a separate steam room that goes down to the 130 degree mark that's not connected to the power grid and has an aquatuner to cool down the output to room temp
Seeing the off gas providing a tiny atmosphere in space makes me wonder if it's worth using a valves and vents would be worth it on relatively safe planets instead of suits
Your oxygen is going from your "brick"(?) and your slime sublimation station. Depending on how long you keep more duplicates there, you might want to add a new station later on.
The reason why you should use an industrial sauna is the question, what else are you going to spend it on? And it requires you to use less fuel which may be a problem depending on your playthrough
im finding myself lately wishing the videos were longer kinda. *I still watch them as ive been enjoying the series.* Although as the series has been going on, it feels like less and less gets done each episode.
.............INDUSTRIAL SAUNAS??REALLY???AND NOT *_JUST_* SEPARATE STEAM CHAMBERS THAT RUN PRIMARILY ON SELF COOLED TURBINES????.....AND WHY DIDNT BRING *LOTS* OF STUFF TO MAKE _EVERYTHING_ ,LIKE GLASS .........BUT I ADMIT THAT OVERALL PACE IS REALLY HIGH BUT STILL NOT MORE 10 DUPES PER COLONY IS A MUST,I GUESS
the big fuff about industrial saunas thats been happening recently is that its been tested and confirmed that a lot of things that typically go in a sauna actually delete heat. I dont know the specifics behind it but I know rock crushers, metal refineries, and maybe sometimes kilns actually delete heat due to debris being heated and cooled.
This is kinda related to what I was trying to say on the comment on the last video, specifically in reference to that Oxylite refinery. The Oxylite comes out at 30C if the input materials are at or below 30C (or the oxygen at least, the mass of gold used is tiny so it contributes less to the heat). So if it's in a sauna, you're making 30C chunks which absorb heat to 200C+, and then cooling them back down to 30C. So then the question would be if absorbing the DTU of cooling the oxlite 170C uses less power in the aquatuner than absorbing the 12kDTU of the refinery if it was outside the sauna. That would indicate if having it in the sauna is effectively heat negative or not. Of course, as I also said last time, power efficiency is pretty moot when theres a reactor running anyway. Maybe could save a couple of tons of Super Coolant from not having the debris chiller and putting much less in a normal cooling loop, and the Steel of not having to build the refiner and sweeper in the sauna.

Mr. RUclips, let it be known that I'm continuously enjoying this series.
Good watching everyone!
Thank you!

Loving this series. Really hope the engagement stays up so I can keep watching 💗
Thanks again for the comment.
Despite having watched the previous episode, I still had a “you printed nine dupes last time?!?” moment
That final thermal overlay was the icing on the cake, all hail super coolant :D
YEAS!
Absolutely loved this episode. A lot of progress and interesting takes on how to solve things.
Thank you!
I love the look of Building around the natural abyssalite
Really enjoyed seeing the industrial brick setup. I'm only getting into ONI now and still have a lot to learn.

Woop. Perfect for break during work.
and you were 1st Lol so common these days
ahhh this is so good! Wish we had more episodes of this series more frequently

I added the beta gassy moo update and all the new items were immediately available in the research or in the build option tabs 👍🏻
Good to know! Thanks.
Amazing, I never would have thought about using a thermo sensor to control the temperature of the base cooling loop
This episode was awesome 👍
I’ma just put this in there because I don’t know what to say for the RUclips algorithm and I appreciate your contact my guy keep it going. 💙
12:05 Angry Echo is scary 😶
I live and die for this series. Thank you for all your effort and consistent uploads
Looking great from the thumbnail. Thanks for the update. Watching you tackle this has been a fun watch.
Im a big fan of ONI and i absolutely love watching your playthrough videos and tutorials thank you for your help and entertainment :D
Thank you.
I love that there's two planetoid's worth of rock just in the thermal shift plates in that industrial sauna. That thing is huge!
I found you!
Standing in outer space by the interplanetary launcher, prepping for super coolness.
Huzzah!!! :)
Well done finding the Hidden Echo.

That was very educative episode. I guess i learned even more then after your sauna tutorial episode =)
Boop you, sir!
Finally it's in use!
Those poor duplicants! So much stress
im so happy this series still has a long way to go coz i don't want it to end yet, it's part of my bedtime playlist. i am still super enjoying the whole series, echo! keep up the amazing work, BOOP!👆
You definitely spoil us with lots of content!!! 😍
Amazing video as always!
Amazing comment.

12:05 a reminder for myself. Never. Ever. Let the slugs out the door.
Finally, the metal production is up and runnin.

I've been nailed by plug slugs wandering into my volcano chamber before, glad to see I'm not alone.
I imagine Echo standing over his poor stressed out dupes, and telling them: Embrace the suck.
I love this series so much imma buy the DLC just to do the same as echo 🎉🎉
Really love ur videos man 🤘🏽
Thank you much!

lets see how long this will take
Oh sweet a faster episode release
This episode was awesome! And it could've eve been just a tab bit longer !

Slug fart is more devastating then the vulcano eruption. :D
Peanut gallery suggestions belong in the potty.
The Plug slug's remains were found scattered across the deodorizers. No life signs were found.
Idle dupes means trapped dupes, except in very late game. I wonder how people still miss this.
Feed those plug slugs some of that metal and get a lot of power
nobody ever reads signs 🤣
Keep it up your doing great
Could have still used a door on the double liquid lock outside the sauna, by making the top-middle part of each liquid lock a joint plate, right?
rest in pieces, slug
Francis John and Echo in the same evening, don't mind if I do
I don't mind at all being mentioned in the same sentence as FJ.
Just wondering if sweeping the top is a job for Sweepy bot. I know it is slower but it might be an initiative in dupe safety!
Water acts as a magnifier for radiation on every reactor i built so far . So couldnt you drop water between glass blocks to boost your rads.
Can't you put a dropoff at a midpoint between the Auto-Sweepers to avoid the rails all together? The volcanoes are clustered closely enough...
dis is good
Woo
Smash that thumb button ppl Echo deserve ir!
Comment #2 how much more effective is a room full of temp shift plates as opposed to a column from water to turbine
im finding myself lately wishing the videos were longer kinda. *I still watch them as ive been enjoying the series.* Although as the series has been going on, it feels like less and less gets done each episode.
Yeah... it takes longer and longer to record each episode. Late game ONI takes time. I feel you.
