Love her comment: "I mean, phones are such a big part of your life. You need them." Wow. She just proved his point perfectly. I almost feel like she was wanting to reach and check her phone during this entire interview. Who knows what she was missing? What if someone was trying to get hold of her? She'd only be on it for a minute... and it does SO many valuable things!!
Time we all started living our lives rather than anticipating and/or checking in on our lives. *sigh*

All phones need to be locked up if they bring the to school. They can get them during their lunch but they get locked back up after that period. No one needs a phone in a classroom. I challenge anyone to give me one good reason. The people who want there little babies to have there phone in the classroom are only ruining education for that little baby and all the others who came to that room to learn and not be distracted.

      100% AGREED.
It doesn't matter whether U.S. or Canada, cell phones should be banned in the classroom. Not "switched off" ....BANNED.
We ALL know "kids" ...or at least we SHOULD KNOW kids. WE ALL KNOW CELL PHONES.
There is a major demographic of "ADULTS" who can't make it more than 20 or 30 seconds without looking at their cellphone. They can't walk across a busy street, full of traffic, without looking at their cellphone. If "adults" can't restrain themselves, how can anyone expect children from looking at their cellphones?
The SCHOOL IS A PLACE TO LEARN. The cellphone is a distraction to learning and there is a HUGE DEMOGRAPHIC of children who are no different from adults. When they are NOT looking at their cellphones (distracted) .....they are WONDERING (distracted) what they might be missing on their cellphone. Schooling often requires concentration. The cellphone interrupts concentration.
Additionally, cellphone use will be distracting to classmates. It is unavoidable. There WILL be one classmate, or two, or three, or four .....who will be aware of someone using a cellphone. THAT'S A DISTRACTION.
The fact that there are people asking this question, "should cellphones be allowed in the classroom?" is fundamentally a non-starter..
The lame excuse/reasoning "in case of an emergency" is also a non-starter. There is an office in every school. In the event of an "emergency", it is only mere minutes to connect up with any student.
And the last argument against cellphones is student themselves. IF cellphones were banned from classrooms, there will STILL be students who will not obey this rule. This is what people/children are like. There IS a demographic who do NOT follow rules.....and I am NOT limiting this statement to children/students. Prisons all over the world are full of the ones who have been caught.

I agree. My Alma Mater allows the use of personal laptops to school but prohibits phones. You don't really need to bring a phone to school since it's just distracting and a laptop can pretty much do the same thing as a phone if not better. Writing documents are easier on a laptop, reading material is easier on a laptop, using external storage and accessories are easier on a laptop, and laptops are generally more powerful that phones.

In a state where almost every one is allowed to carry a gun including the teacher, every kid should be allowed to carry a phone, for their own safety and perhaps others in case of an incident in their classroom,or elsewhere in the school!!!!

100% disagree with everyone in the comments about banning phones. We have become our parents. Just like the math teacher didnt allow us to use a calculator, this generation dont want a student to use a cellphone because we are too stubborn to find ways to incorporate a smart device into learning. I hope those classrooms doesn't have anyone in them that have a learning disability.

I believe students shouldn’t use their phone inside of class, but I also believe students should be allowed to use phones outside of class.
As a child I had no phone to bring to school, but I also didn’t have any friends. It felt like a depressing prison, because I had to stay in a place away from my family, for 8 hours with no one to talk to, or even anything to do. So I started to not like school, and I did terrible at some point because of it.
In high school I had a few friends, but I was still mostly by myself. I made it a habit to study, because I didn’t like feeling alone. But books weren’t cutting it, because I just quickly got bored. So I studied by watching videos, or studying MS word docs I made myself (which look very cute and fun btw) about the topic, and when I’m mentally exhausted, I watch something to relax my mind. And good enough, school didn’t feel as depressing as it was in primary. I did incredibly well in academics just like that
There’s always the good and the bad in everything, but let me ask.. why should the good suffer for the bad?
Stop making schools feel like a prison. Rules and standards must be set yes, but for phones in specific.. why is it bad that they want to use phones outside the classroom? Does it affect their grades? their discipline? What about their mental health? What kills them to use it in their free time?
Instead, think about how it actually helps them

The only reason MOST kids use their cellphones in class are because of the teacher. If the class is boring or not engaging enough the students will resort to using their much less boring item, The Smartphone.
So again, it's not the phones it's the teachers.

I totally agree with Ben. He is a teacher and he gets it. Cell phones should be banned in the classroom. Place the smartphone or android in a cell phone pocket for the entire class period. Too many kids are entitled and think that it's okay to use cell phones to cheat.

I think that you should be able to have your phone in class but I agree with the girl there should be a school mode we’re the cam and games and RUclips should be off limits but texting and calling apps should NOT BE BANNED IN THAT mode because in case of a emergency situation such as a school sh**ter students should be able to contact a parent or guardian and emergency services…

It's simple, you get an F if you use a phone in class. Kids don't learn when they are staring at TikTok videos or playing games.

    • @stfuyoutube423

the reason why they get Fs is because the grading system exists, not because cell phones, now shut up

0:47 he obviously never had a kid that had to walk a dangerous route to and from school. Kids can have dumb phones for emergencies but a smartphone isn't necessary untill they are at the age they're applying for jobs, even then they could just go to the library for internet.
