While it's possible to draw a sword on your back, carrying a sword on your back was mainly used when transporting a sword, such as a squire for a knight, or traveling long distances.
You would almost always wear a sword at your waist anytime you wanted it ready at a moment's notice.

It´s always much more convenient to open a book or magazine instead of starting your computer, giong to certain websites and searching for some stuff.

Unfortunately, not many people realize that back scabbards need to be designed separately from a simple sheath, leading to incidents like the one shown in the video.
Shadiversity has a vid on his channel about this very topic.

You need a specially designed sheath to pull out a long sword from the back. It usually has a slit along the side, it's length only needs to be as long as your arm requires to fully remove it. So however much is left in the sheath after pulling out to a reasonable length is how far the slit needs to be. It also makes it easier to return it too.

Not really, you do need malleable sheath material like leather for it to work, though. Even Shad made a video about it.

You are correct and not correct at the same time.. There where some sheaths made that way for said reason.. However there where also other sheaths that where designed to be less ridged, those allowed said thing to be easier for a few specific fighting styles. Oh and Spidermanmyers is also correct.. In-fact there was a lot of swordsmen who would have it lowered like that. It was also semi ( not completely common but the number of those who did so was still quite high ) popular for people who used bows/crossbows to have a sword on their back that was made to be semi hidden. They also almost always carried 1 - 2 daggers with them as well. The daggers where more meant for delivering coup de grâce.. Since the archers where the ones charged with the task of finishing off wounded soldiers after the battle.. This.. Includes their own soldiers since most would be wounded beyond what medical science could handle at said time.

The offbrand I have is something that has been passed down amongst the dorm mates who have moved into the room I stayed at.
You must leave the offbrand when you move out to be passed down to the next to move into the room. It even has its own hiding spot that you can only find if you had actually cleaned the room the navy way.
Actually you can do a sword on the back if you design the sheath/scabbard around it. If it is a longer sword, you just cut a slot in the side so once you draw enough of it, you slide the rest out to one side through the slot.Though historically I'm not sure if it was done that much, putting a sword on your back.

It's funny how the only game i have seen it being done right, was a game that basically no one knows of called Bound By Flame, it's similar to Geralt's except his sheath just replaces the solid with straps, which Still causes the issues. In bound by flames, it's like completely open so you can Bend it out and in, but the sides shrink and got a small edge sticking out so the blade slides into place. easy to take out, easy to put back in.

I have a set of vintage 35mm metal jacketed projector slides from one of the first set of playboy photoshoots. My ex’s grandmother may or may not be in one of them, unfortunately she took that knowledge with her to the grave. But she used to work with one of the photographers that did the shoot, and had a lot of stories and memorabilia from him. I found the slides so cool, she gave them to me before I and her granddaughter broke up.

I mean... actually no that's true my cousin gave it to me, not in my room but hiding in an old Halo Lego box in the basement in a place no one but me would go to find it. Also I feel it depends, if my dad had ever found it doubt he'd care, my mom probably would've wondered where she went wrong whether it's mine or not, and my grandpa... he just gave me some once, even after he passed when cleaning the PCs to find pictures to save for my gram... there were some I had to delete... but also backed up.

Shadiversity made a custom back scabard and Skallagrim shown how to attach a normal scabard in a way you can draw long swords, but yes without doing anything specific you need a short sword to do anime back scabard
