HUGE sound! Man, I wish I could see Hum live
Thank you for posting this!!
I was at this show!!!!!!!!
Deftones copied this song. Might know it as Knife Party
Chino has openly stated that Hum are one of their biggest influences. I’m glad I’m not the only person who feels that Knife Prty borrows heavily from Little Dipper
I wonder if Matt's ever had singing lessons. I bet he hasn't. With some tweaks he could learn to stay on pitch. I know because I sucked at singing way worse than him and now I can manage to stay in key as well as keep some tone.
For a heavy band like Hum it almost doesn't matter. Matt's voice is a mere minor backdrop to the wall of beautiful noise.
Well there's some truth to that. But his melody lines and words are almost as important as the music. He actually writes really catchy melodies. Also I think on nights when he is off it bothers him. It certainly seems that way by the look on his face on certain videos. I know that feeling, from struggling on the mic back in the day. It can make for a frustrating experience.

I saw them play in Portland and he was pretty much on in terms of pitch. However, I think you're right. I've seen other shows where his pitch is off and its distracting to the song. He's not really a great singer on a technical level but I think you're right that he could do something to improve more. Nice to chat with a fellow Hum fan BTW!
Yeah for sure! I live in the South and only know one other fan who, funny enough, is a black dude. You're lucky to have seen them play. I've been digesting their albums for 20 years now but the three times they played near me, something insane prevented me from seeing them. For instance, the day they played Florida was the same day a hurricane hit. I set out on the 6 hour drive anyway cause I thought risk of death was worth the reward. I made it 3 hours and had to stop from my car being blown off the road. The other times aren't as dramatic but just as unsuccessful. The Curse of the Hum Show.

Yikes! Well, I really enjoyed their portland gig, but they had a replacement drummer which was a bummer. Hope you get to see them. Seems like they plan to stick around for a bit!
