The answer is simple: which is more important, human or boar life? Will they take action only when a human life is lost? I think the people who said they're "cute" have absolutely no idea the vicious killing power of a charging adult tusked boar. No guns? Fine, tase or trap them. Overhaul the trash disposal system. Organise community boar BBQs. Do whatever it takes. It seems to me more like the local government has no willpower and is trying not to antagonise its voter base maybe? Because otherwise the situation would not have gotten so out of hand.
They are wild animals and should be left in the wild. Wild animals and humans shouldn't be mixed. Some say it's "cute"! Yah. We know those baby animals are cute however once they have overgrown, watch out! They might bite your testicles off😜. I visited Tuscano some ten years ago. The hotel we stayed in offered a dish of pasta with wild boar ragu. I had it and couldn’t believe how good it tasted. Came back to San Francisco and had been looking for wild boar ragu ever since. Moved to Seattle two years ago and finally found a ristorante in Kirkland that offered it on their menu. Went there with high hope but was disappointed. Evidently it requires special techniques to do a wild boar dish. With that I humbly offer a solution to the wild boar dilemma the Romans have. Organized a team of chefs to come up with a series of delicacy based on boar meat and systematically introduce them to Italian people. It would likely take a few while to have the common folks acquiring such taste. It, however, would eventually reduce the wild boar population to a manageable size. Of course, concurrently a set of regulations and rules has to be established to make the capturing of such wild life a safe one.
Both issues of trash and wild boars should be addressed simultaneously. Instead of placing bags of trash on the sidewalks, trash should be put in large commercial garbage bins so that the pigs can't tip them over. This may also help with the rat problem. As to the boars, they should be trapped and a few of them butchered and given to the poor. The rest can be relocated.

They're picked up by private trash trucks that are equipped with lifts. These trucks aren't specialized; they are all over my nation. And they deliver the trash to the same dump as the other trash trucks. So, I don't understand why you would think that this would require an expensive overhaul of the entire system.
This is very interesting, first time I heard that wild boar roaming in Rome, Big News media never report of this thing. In some countries wild boar is very pricy delicacy, can be good export commodity for Rome and solve the city problem..

其实意大利有捕猎季，可以狩猎野猪，不过有范围的限制。从结果来看，显然杀野猪的效率太低了。

中国政府想要调整还是很容易的，一纸法令下来就行。看来目前问题还不是那么严重，就怕法令下来直接把野猪干到濒危。
在澳大利亞，因為野兔繁殖過多，政府也允許獵殺的。相比野豬，野兔更不應該被獵殺，但政府為了保護農民，也是採取啦這樣的措施。我覺得問題來自於那些保護動物組織，以及一些虛偽的人士

野猪身上有很多病毒，所以不建议带生吃，个人建议第一步就是把食材去腥味水煮，切片洋葱丝香菜凉拌，烤乳猪的方式去，烧制酥脆口感。用猪的身体肉，切小块腌制穿肉串，用木炭烧微微焦黄撒孜然、芝麻，可以直接吃，或夹着面包或生菜吃。
