    In US news and current events today, this couple opened up to Rep. Abigail Spanberger about how they were screwed over by the pharmaceutical industry (industry) and U.S. health care system. The couple explained how their healthcare company one day decided their prescription drugs would no longer be covered. Reps like Spanberger and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are trying to fight this malfeasance from pharmaceutical companies and health care providers.

      We don't at the moment but as soon as a Democrat becomes president then we're going to go tumbling down. Their goal is literally to pull America down until it is a third world country. If you noticed, the Democrat states always have a bunch of dirty homeless people on the streets. The cost to live in those states is way to high.

      Like trump promises to bring troops home and now he escalated tensions - just a bunch of liars - and they all do it cause people don’t understand accountability - here’s an analogy - I love my kids and support them but when they misbehave or do wrong - I call them on it and sometimes require disciplinary action - no different for politicians - support does not mean looking the other way when they backtrack or outright lie.

    I've said this before, I'll say it again: We need Medicare-For-All/a single payer system here in the U.S.! What's more "Pro-Life" than ensuring that every person in America has guaranteed affordable healthcare? Also, if we all had access to basic healthcare, we'd all have the "freedom" to live long lives and rarely have to worry about medical bankruptcies. Sure, taxes will go up, but the overall cost will go down so much that everyone will be paying less and saving thousands of dollars every year. Furthermore, if some of us need additional healthcare than Medicare, then we have the "choice" to get additional insurance, but for others Medicare would be more than enough. Finally, if every other developed country (Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand) can implement this system and save money, then why can't the U.S. do the same and help "Make America Great Again" for everyone at least on the issue of healthcare?

    • @or1750
      @or1750 4 года назад +8

      Jesse Torres great point and agree with you 110%! The issue is MONEY and GREED. The U. S. Big Pharma companies has turned into a made-for-profit business instead of human interests. Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.
      Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well everywhere even in the United States despite the corporate elite Funding the majority of us political campaigns and shifting the narrative through corporate media. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US.

If we force companies to not make a profit or even perhaps lose money then they will stop spending their money on research and new medication won't be created.

I'll even low ball it for you, if it took 300 billion dollars of investment to invent a drug and they sold it at $1300 profit per transaction it would take more than 230,000 transactions to break even. Now say you could muster up 15000 prescriptions per month being filled (which is a lot and usually takes time in and of itself) it would take about 2 years just to begin to break even on how much was spent.
