That song is truly amazing. The sign off by Joni at the end wasn't true. Years later she confessed and said it was about the child she gave up for adoption. They found each other a lot later, they tried to reconcile when Joni was a older. It didn't work out. Truly heartbreaking. Gorgeous song. Loneliness takes many forms. Sorry to jump on your top rated comment. I just thought it was important to tell the story.I hope it takes nothing away from anyone else's feelings about the song.. Perhaps it enhances it for some people out there. Like me.
She never ever disappoints does our Joni. She and Carole King were, and still are, the best female singer/songwriters.

This has been my favorite Joni Mitchell song for years. The song has been around for some time. This video is fairly recent in the scheme of things however the video has captured the song perfectly.
Joni Mitchell is an incredible songwriter as well as having one of my favorite female voices. I have been a huge fan of hers for years, and I still have her albums in my large album collection. I loved your reaction as always ❤️. You two are always authentic and show your pure hearts and souls. God bless you both.

She is singing about her breakup with Graham Nash. She broke up with quite a few musicians. Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, David Crosby, and a few record executives.
Joni is an amazing artist. Her album Blue is considered one of the best ever recorded. My personal favorite though is her album Court & Spark. She has SO many incredible songs. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂

Joni, IMO, is easily top 5 in the singer/songwriter genre, there with Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Paul Simon.

First, I just came across your channel recently and you are so great at finding the key emotion of these songs. In the final analysis, Joni is my absolute favorite songwriter, musician, and singer (Jackson Browne is close). I'm going to suggest A Case of You, California, Blue, Big Yellow Taxi, and Help Me, but you should check out all of her stuff. You would be doing great just to explore all of the music from this album, Blue.
A consummate artist, she also paints. Many of her album covers were painted by her. This video is an official video, though it was released just ~3 years ago on the 50th anniversary of the Blue album. The artworks depicted are all by Joni and it captures the spirit of the song so well...

A non-sad Joni song is her ode to the famous music festival Woodstock, which she was supposed to prrform at, but couldn't get there after they closed the roads.

Joni was playing a co cert in Madison, WI on Lake Monona. She borrowed skates from the hotel desk clerk and went off skating with a photographer. Look up the beautiful black and white photos. It's stunning.

Joni Mitchell is a great Canadian-American singer songwriter. She covers a lot of genres of music including folk, pop, rock, classical & jazz. She has had so many hits especially in the 60's-80's such as "Chelsea Morning", "Help Me", "The Circle Game", "Both Sides Now", "Woodstock", "Raised On Robbery", "Free Man In Paris" etc.

In the tradition of amazing Canadian singer/songwriters of which Joni Mitchell is a significant part, I'd like to suggest you listen to Margo Timmons . and The Cowboy Junkies. In particular, i recommend their performance of "Those Final Feet" at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival. If you aren't familiar with the group, I think you would be plearantly surprised. They are not at all like what the name might lead you to expect.
