      They should, but if they already HAD to release the Shadow 2 Compact, it would make sense they release it first… because very few people would buy it over an optic ready P-01/P-07, which will not only be half the price, but also have a FPB.

  • @Maelstrom8

    I couldn't agree with Humble more. The P-01 is a fantastic platform. The S2C just seemed like a way to charge double for that platform. Not saying it's bad, but it greatly benefits from the P-01 already being an incredible start bone stock. If you're not an optics on pistol guy, get the P-01 and save some money. You'll love it.

    The reason is brand appeal. People want guns that look nice and feel nice and are worth showing off, and we can thank Staccato for starting that trend. The S2C is a finely machined chunk of metal, and it gives CZ fans something that can hold their own against the PDP Match/AXG Legion/M&P Metal in terms of coming out of the safe to exhibit to friends and family.
    To use your car analogy, you have to remember that most people don't want a race car. They want a race car badge (M/AMG) but they don't want to race, they just want something that makes them look good on their way to the mall. In that context, making a Civic look sporty without actually being sporty is what most of the car industry has been doing for awhile now.

    • @lllllllllllillllllll
      @lllllllllllillllllll 3 месяца назад +3

      To extend the analogy, most race car badges don't make you drive recklessly (drop the hammer on a loaded chamber) but many people do it anyways. CZ is making a race car and calling it a commuter. It has no decocker it, has no firing pin block, twisted by a crude mockery of advertisement and brand appeal, the shadow 2 compact will never be a carry gun.

    Optic cut, availability, and weight of it, (metal), and honest outlaws' torture testing. Made me choose it over simarly priced guns, (p365 x legion, exc). A step up over polymer guns, imo, but not quite a staccato c2.

    I bought my brand new S2C for $1018 out the door. I would have spent as much or way more to get a p01 optic cut and trigger to as good as the S2C. So, no complaints for me. Either way, both guns are great guns.

    I am a CZ Fan!! I have 4 of them - including the P01 Omega as my EDC. I truly thought about the Shadow 2 Compact to replace it but one major feature held be back - the lack of a decocker on the Shadow 2. If I am going to carry, I prefer having a true double action on a hammer then "lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber" - just another layer of safety.

    I have found much different results in shooting both those guns. I have shot thousands of rounds back to back on a timer doing many different drills. Yes you can come close to performance with the P01. I found the recoil on the S2c to be softer. Return to zero at speed is much better. The trigger is much faster which you would expect considering the DNA of the S2.
    The biggest performance differential came shooting idpa. This gun just works well in all aspects.
    It just fits me better and has a closer feel of the P07 than the P01. (No more hammer bite with s2c unlike the p01)
    Fast double taps is what finally pushed me over the edge s2c was leaps and bounds better
    I dont like shooting big heavy guns. I run this gun in carry optics and it just sings for me there.
    All of the debate over the decocker the firing pin safety is very personal. I for one do not see the issue in my day-to-day application.
    However, some say, if this came out with a decocker and a firing pin block that they would like it so much better. If they did that it would it really be any different than the P01?
    That being said, my main carry gun is a P07 with about 5k through it. I have and will carry the s2c.
    One thing I noticed is on the accuracy test you shot the P01 in the Decock position and you lowered the hammer all the way on the shadow 2 compact. I think you gave the P01 a little bit of an advantage there. One of the great things about the omega is the trigger stroke double action feels fairly short and that is a really nice aspect of that trigger system.

    • @TheHumbleMarksman
      @TheHumbleMarksman  3 месяца назад +1

      So the frames and slides aren’t that different in weight - so difference in perceived recoil is imagined or due to set up on springs. On the website they are less than an ounce different.
      Reset is shorter for sure but outside of a sporting context that’s not exploitable and I believe most agree 40 oz + is more desireable than 30 with a short grip to pinch your palm on reloads with. If it were a 4” full grip gun with AL frame it would make more sense to me than this spec.

    • @rkpagano
      @rkpagano 3 месяца назад +2

      @@TheHumbleMarksman one difference is the recoil spring set up that mimics or is exactly like the P07. I am running factory springs on all 3 pistols. The P07 and S2c have very similar recoil. I think it is more than perceived recoil difference. This could very well be due to recoil assy difference. Running at speed like on a bill drill the difference in my hands is a very stark one. I very much thought they would be very similar. Running a bill drill or double taps was where accuracy really showed a difference.
      P01. Cgw pro package
      S2c. 11.5 hammer spring.

    The Omega model is no longer made. If getting a CZ P01 you then need to get a CZ custom or Cajun Gun Works trigger job and then send it to Primary Machine to get the slide milled. You can also buy one all tricked out used. In the end it’s a big PIA to go through the process. It’s a purchase that I keep kicking down the road. Maybe one day but there are many pistols that are ready to go straight from the factory.

    The things I disliked most about my p-01 (non omega) was the super meh double action trigger and no optic mounting. I also in general prefer to carry cocked and locked. Can’t do that with the original p-01, you can with the omega if you switch out the de-cocker to a safety. To get the p-01 trigger to the same level as the shadow 2 compact you are dropping a few hundred bucks to buy Cajun parts to install yourself, or even more if you send it to them to install, then you gotta send the gun to get optics cut if you want that. A few hundred more, plus weeks of the gun not being in your possession.
    Factor all that in you are getting damn close to the s2c in price.
    I’m not saying you can’t shoot a p-01 trigger well, but it’s not as nice as the S2C.
    No FPB isn’t an issue for me but some folks hate it.
    The S2C with some extended safety levers is about perfect for what I want out of a compact CZ.
    Edit: I also want to say this and it always pisses of the uspsa bros, but the fact that you have to de-cock cz’s or similar guns with thumb safeties when they are designed to be carried cocked and locked is super hella mega dumb. One of the many reasons that USPSA as an organization blows donkey dick.

    Why does everyone keep comparing the S2C to the inferior model of the P01 and not the OG? Major cringe. These guns have completely different uses as well. The P01 with decocker is designed for carry where as the S2C has none of the features youd want in a carry gun but also doesnt have the features youd want in a target gun. Its in a weird middle ground that isnt needed. Fun fact, you can fully cajunize a P01 for less than an S2C and itll blow the S2C out of the water in ever possible way. Regardless, this sis the most honest comparison ive seen between the two.

    I’m glad you put this out. I just picked up a P01 and I already have the shadow 2. My P01 is the sweet OD green model and runs like a top. I think that out of the series (75, shadow 2, P09, P01) the 01 fits best in my hand. There isn’t a reason besides the clout and smoother internals go get the s2 compact. It looks cool and nice but I would rather have a gun dedicated to either duty or gamer use. I so wished CZ would’ve made a stack half micro like everyone else, just to keep them relevant. By now it’s too late.

    I wondered exactly the same thing. The only thing I can think of is they saved some manufacturing difficulties by keeping *some* of the tooling the same to make the compact Shadow 2. I currently am carrying my P01. As much as I have tried to move to other platforms the P01 just *works*. It was my main (and only) pistol for a very long time and has been statistically perfect reliability wise, so it's now the backup gat. The lack of a firing pin block and decocker on the Shadow 2 make it a total non starter for me personally as a carry gun.

    I'd consider an 01 or 75 if they had optic cuts because I think they're close enough for me to the Shadow 2 compact for about half the price as is now. Maybe at add $100-$200 to the current price if it was optics ready? You'd be saving about $300-400.

    I’m just going to say it, we needed waaaay more ‘80’s montage music in this video!
    In all seriousness I heard the justification for the S2 Compact was to provide a “carry” version of the full size S2.
    I get that the P10 and its iterations are CZ’s unspoken “flagship” guns, but I agree the rest of the line could use an optics ready upgrade. In particular the P-07 and the P-09. DA/SA is at least holding its own, if not enjoying a slight renaissance. Why not try to market those guns for LE/Duty use (the P-09), or the P-07, for concealed carry, for those that prefer a DA/SA gun for AIWB carry. Again I think an updated optic ready version of these guns would go a long way, and that the market is there.😎✌️

    If CZ had found a way to put a bull barrel in the shadow 2 compact and gave it better sights and safety (who likes the nearly flush button thing?) they could justify the price, but with the wave of cheaper/budget 2011s coming out if I really wanted a "highspeed go fast carry gun" I could just get a tisas b9r carry or an LFA apollo 11 compact with a prodigy grip + upgrades, or a LTT PX-4....(list goes on)

    Your opinion makes sense for you,but not for everyone. Why would anyone buy an older gun and then send it away to have it milled for an optic? After the time and money to send to send it, you are into it for as much as the newer gun anyway makes no sense whatsoever,but you do you.For example Cajun Gun Works charges $365 to mill a slide then you have to get it refinished which costs about $150 depending on the coating, and it takes approximately 6 weeks. the cost of the gun itself was $700+ Which is over $1100 anyway and you can get a Shadow 2 compact for less than MSRP. The prices he gave were incorrect,but he is not looking to buy one.

    I bought a Shadow 2 Compact OR because I like the pistol just as it is. The weight is right and the feel is right. I just shot my annual HR 218 qual with it and shot 100% with it. I couldn’t ask for more out of a pistol. I actually shoot my S2 Compact better than my full size Shadow2. Shooting with my S2 Compact is almost cheating with an RMR on it. Yeah it is big for a carry pistol but with the right holster it ain’t bad at all. Maybe I’ll get a P-01 and compare it against my Shadows but I doubt it will shoot one bit better. I only wish the P-01 was OR ready. And it is quite safe for EDC use unless you have butter fingers.
