NAS used in a video is DS118. Same idea applies to other 1-bay NAS models such as J and SE series.
1. Back up your NAS settings
2. Remove old drive from your NAS
3. Install a bigger drive in your NAS
4. Initialise your NAS
5. Restore the settings
6. Copy data from old drive
Sorry for bad audio.
Man I just have to echo everyone else. Easy to follow instructions and IT WORKS.. Thank you!
Glad I could help
Thank you very much for this video! There are many videos out there that explain it with a 2, 4 or more bay system, but this is the only 1-bay I have found 😄
And I'm currently still in the process of copying files.
One thing I wish I knew beforehand, but didn't cause too much of a trouble, is that the backup only saves & restores the settings. All apps/packages get removed and have to be reinstalled and setup again. Besides that, I'm very happy to finally replace my old drive that was close to failing 👏✨
New DSM will actually offer full system backup. This will include apps and settings.
Great tutorial, the only one I found for Synology 1 bay nas and it works. Thanks.
Great video for changing / upgrading the drive in a one-bay NAS.
Great explanation! Thanks a lot, I owe you one!
Would that 1 bay NAS be sufficient for a Jellyfin server?
Yes, it should work just fine as a local media server.
where is your voice?
Sorry, OBS broke it.
