Thanks for these colour guide ideas; Pinterest is SO addictive! I’d love to see a video from you on choosing grout colour from the planning stage, as I usually wing it and have had a few disasters!
I'm gradually working my way through your videos Peter and this is the best one so far. I've always had trouble understanding how to work our hues with colour and pardon my ignorance, but making a photo black and white Is genius Thank-you so much. 🦋Marie-Ann from Mosaicled🦋
Thankyou so much Marie-Ann, appreciate that. So glad you're enjoying them, understanding colour can be a bit difficult, I don't know who originally came up with changing a colour photo to black and white but it works well. :)
Hi Peter, thanks for introducing these useful websites. When I'm planning a new mosaic, it takes couple of days from me to choose a patern and color. Hope these make life easier :)
Really good information in this one. I never thought of using the color pallets on Pinterest in that way. Thank you for sharing the other websites as well, I can see getting lost for hours playing with color combinations.
Peter I’m about to use unsanded white grout with added glitter for interest. Is there a ratio of glitter to powdered grout that I should use? Thanks Libby
I haven't used glitter in grout, generally it doesn't work well, it tends to get lost and it can also compromise the grout. There are different brands of unsanded grout and glitter as well so it will be a trail and error for you. Glitter will also fade outside. There are glitter additives that companies put out for their own grout products and are designed to work together. :)
Thank you for saving me many hours of scouring the internet for this information! As an absolute beginner, I have one additional question: Once you've selected a colour palette, how do you ensure you're purchasing the appropriate coloured tesserae? Considering the challenges with accurately displaying colours on computer screens, I'm worried that despite investing a significant amount of money, I might be disappointed with some of the colours once I receive the tesserae!
Thankyou so much. There shouldn’t be that big a difference in colours when looking at a screen if the photo is close to the Tess colour. If you need accurate shades of colours then purchasing a sample board or seeing if you can arrange a purchase of a small bag of sample colours from the retailer. The bigger issue is when you work with stained glass because every area of the sheet it totally different including the opposite side unless it’s a plain colour. Thanks for watching and for your comment. 😊
