I second that lol!!! Its 20 degrees here. Blowin and spittin ice, I live vicariously through these videos while I daydream about the day I will be back out on the water. No such thing as a video from this man that is too long lol.
I just discovered your channel a few days ago. I love watching your content being an avid cat fisherman myself. Thank you for taking the time to produce these great vids.
Dad fished the Pee Dee river system for fifty years and was a legend in that area for his catfishing. He absolutely swore by big old head pieces for big blues. Back then the Pee Dee wasn’t even known for flatheads but it was full of huge blues. There’s nothing wrong with using crappie for bait. The more that are taken out of a system the bigger the remaining crappie populations get. Here in N.C, Jordan Lake is famous for its crappie fishing. It’s so good because thousands of people take thousands of pounds of them out of the lake every year. As long as the lake’s shad population is good you simply cannot overfish crappie if you follow fish & game limits.
I can’t get enough of you Tennessee boys, y’all are some smooth operators! Keep up the good work, love the content! Finally ice out here so it’s time to quit being a couch catter and get some flatties in the boat!
Man Justin you’re the man on catching these big fish out of a kayak I watch all of your videos and you seem to catch big fish every time thanks for the great videos also the three people who gave you a thumbs down on this video must be jealous cause you catch big fish and they don’t
I like watching you fish, this sint my time of the year, at 67 I'll wait for summer..lol always wanted a fishing boat but enver really got around to it.
Happy first day of spring. What an amazing video. Man. The time you put in is really paying off. 2019 is the year for you. Can't wait to see the next video. Tight lines sir.
Thanks! Catfish are one of the hardier species of fish and can stay out of the water a few minutes. I still try to do my best to get the pics and video stuff done in a timely manner though.
I take pics of them on a measuring device before I cut them. Has the date and time stamp on my phone. Still may not get me out of a ticket but I figure it can’t hurt.
I'm enjoying your channel, thanx. What state are you in that you can use Crappie for bait. Here in Arkansas, we can not use game fish. If I could I'd use small Trout.
I don’t pay attention to moon phases or weather conditions. I just fish when I have time to go. High winds are about the only thing that just absolutely ruins a day of fishing for me.
I have now watched 20 of your videos. The thing I have taken away is the size of the baits. I am upping the size of my bait. Great job and I appreciate the work.
@@KayakCatfish I've done quite a bit of kayaking for fun. Minimal fishing out of one.. With that in mind what kind of kayak do you recommend I get to start out in fishing.. I'm a bigger guy.
Beautiful blue!! Those are the kinds fish you salute and say “Thank you sir, that was fun!” Great job. I would like to think I might catch on like that one day.
Couldn't be a better way to begin my TN fishing trip than to watch this. You may have set the bar a little high for me but I will do my best. May have to start out doing just a little crappie fishing. :-). Thanks for the great videos Justin.
Just depends on the location. Most of the time I am fishing within 20-30 minutes of the launch. Sometimes I go over an hour on each direction if I am fishing somewhere with limited access.
I have watched several of your videos now. All great. I have a question. I notice you dont keep any to eat. Do you not eat cat fish or are these in this river no good for some reason?
Thanks for sharing the huge fish. My best was a 16# Buffalo many decades ago. I don't know if I could put it back. I probably could if I were more successful.
Love yours videos man we went on the river last night catfishing using night crawlers we caught 5 but about 20 stripes we came up on a school didn't know they liked night crawlers???
some guys spend thousands just to experience what your are,you are a damn good fisherman, and KAYAK,YOU have found the honey hole, any size you're looking for is right there, good luck and enjoy
If I am fishing in current, I use a 4lb slip ring anchor with a section of chain in front of it. If I am anchoring in slack water, I use a 10lb dumbbell.
@@KayakCatfish right on I just bought a 128 sit on top ascend kayak and have pretty much the full set up, I was just debating on the size to hold in place, thank ya
Man, you got slimed from your toes to your nose!! Time to send that rainsuit to the cleaners. LOL What a day!! That was one hell of a fish. Fought you down and dirty. Thanks for sharing your success!! Fish On!!
Awesome catch yet again! Hey when you are dragging creek/main channel ledges are you targeting the top the ledge or the deepest breakline? And does that apply to your location on a point as well?
Thanks Britton! When dragging, I usually hit both. Most of my fish come from the deepest breakline so that is where I spend the bulk of my time. When working a point, I like to try to hit the end of it from different angles. Sometimes they will only hit a bait moving in one direction for some reason.
That,s a beauty,Betcha she already has some big egg sack,s developing.Thats a 50 plus blue, not much smaller than your last big one.Good thing you wiped the skunk scent off ol Panfish,es reel,s before taking this trip, cause you could sure see an improvement,HA.HA,
Just awesome! Hard work always pays off. As to length of video.....who cares.......LOL. You’ve been at this video business longer than me but I have discovered that the so called RUclips pundits don’t know squat....LOL. I’ve found there is no rhyme or reason to lengths of videos no matter the subjects. You’ve got the viewers and I just see it continuing to grow for you.
I feel you on that. My buddies wanted to do a disabled vet hunting and fishing channel. I told them I cant stand social media why do i want to put my face on it.
It isn't a state regulation but many tournaments are now requiring a flag to be visible at all times. Plus it is a good safety measure to make yourself more visible on the water.
You get some monsters out in your kayak but to stand up in ya kayak would see me in the water bringing in a fish there size of that big blue cat. ……….oh boy!!! 👍🏻🐟🎣🇦🇺
Please don't apologise about the length of your video. In my eyes the longer the better. I could watch you all day. You have so much fun.

Still watching older videos and finding the good Ole 👊🏼. Love it!!! Keep dropping lines bud!!!

Thanks Bob!
You keep catching them that big and we'll have to start calling you the Pig Farmer! LOL
Haha! I hope someday I can find some hogs instead of the little piggies.

Would like to see you do a video on how to read a lake map, and we're to drop baits.
Check out the Buck Perry book series or the structure fishing youtube channel. Those are great resources.

Quick question if you are using cut Crappie, and a game warden stops you how do you prove it was 10"? Great video as always

“Dats a guud fish” 😂😂 love it!!
Hey Justin do u ever use solunar times for catching fish? And are there any conditions or weather that make it harder to catch catfish?

Ok have you ever catfished in Minnesota?
No, I have never fished there.
What if he had a boat do u think he catch a lot more and he didn’t get dragged by them fish
I would catch more fish but I wouldn’t have as much fun doing it
True thanks for replying too I’m a big fan
I just discovered your channel and I love it! Quick question, what is the purpose of the pipe insulation that is on your rods?
Seems cold. What s the coldest you have ever fished
It was pretty cold that day. I have fished when the temps have been in the 20’s but usually if it is under 30, I stay home. I hate being cold.
So what do you do if you want to keep some.cats for supper with a kayak?
I never keep them. Our water is contaminated and it isn’t safe to eat them.
What is the brand of the 2 reels that are the same? Nice fish by the way!!!!
Thanks! They are Okuma pro xp 200 reels. I bought them used to try out but I am going to replace them.
My old any Garcia c3 reels are my favorites. I just ordered a couple new ones.
6500 c3's are my favorite reels also!!!!
How do you convince the warden that the crappie head came from a 10" fish ?
Nice to see you catching some big ones. Too bad those guys weren't finding you last summer!

Thanks Deuane! I was using 8/0 size hooks.

Hobie Outback
Midnight perch are the best bait. I use small carp and drum and people think I’m crazy but it works.

Is that ft. Loudoun lake?
Congrats on that toad blue! I started getting worried about that 15 year old Ugly Stik...imagining I was hearing the snap crackle pops of age😜

40 feet
That was a pig of a blue an a nice flat head. I'll have to try crappie when the flat heads move up in the river here. Tight lines an good luck bro.

Just out of curiousity for your conditions with ur normal setup, what size anchor do you use to hold in place

It's funny how some of the cats you pull in the kayak are big chatter boxes, lol. The only fish that I know of, can talk. (Noise)
I need to get google to translate what they are saying to me lol.
Lol.
My biggest cat was a 9lbs 16oz channel cat. A dink compared to the ones you're catching.
That was a huge blue I think it's bigger than that one from the other week
It was a fun one for sure.

What river are u on
Tennessee river
Like what city?cause I got but in Clifton and Florence
Fort Loudon near Knoxville TN
Just curious... what's the deal with the flag?
Is it a new requirement for anchor fishing, if so... is it state wide? Or just the rivers?
It isn't a state regulation but many tournaments are now requiring a flag to be visible at all times. Plus it is a good safety measure to make yourself more visible on the water.

Wow that blue! Keep it up brotha
Thank you!
Wow just wow. What an amazing trip. 👍👍

great fishing trip man.
Thanks Mark!
isn't using game fish for bait illegal?
Game fish can be used in Tennessee as long as they are caught on rod and reel and meet the minimum size requirements.
If I ever hook into one that big I will have to have a hand winch on my sundolphin to get it in the boat! Beautiful fish!
Great day of fishing! Congrats on them monster cats.

It is the Tennessee river but we have hydroelectric dams that control our flow.
