Cycle-Rama CR536 Camshaft. .536"lift, 250 degrees on the intake, 260 degrees on the exhaust, intake closes 50 degrees ABDC.
Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather & FREEDOM Sharp Curve Radius Exhaust.
The last few power runs were done with the air filter removed as it was far too restrictive for the big 143ci engine.
I have to be clear & remind some people that I do NOT have full freedom to design & build engines for my customers, I can only suggest what I know to be the best. The final decision comes down to the customers own budget & preferences.

Awesome build Master Tech Miller!! I turn 62 next month and buying a new Harley Low Rider ST for my birthday. My last bike was a 2007 842 lb street glide with the monster 88 Vtwin 🤣. Being much older I wanted a lighter bike I could ride around town and also go on two - three hour cruises. I can't imagine how much fun the stock 117 engine will be and I am not going to do a thing but add new pipes. You are one badass with that engine build. I think that engine would pull the tendons out of my shoulder when I twisted the throttle. In any event have fun mate and safe travels. And changing the subject, I am a musician and have tinnitus from too much loud noise over the years. Make sure you protect your hearing especially when working on these monster engines everyday. Tinnitus is no joke and having permanent ringing in my ears sucks so just want fellow riders and musicians to be aware of this condition and protect your hearing. PS.....you have a new subscriber. Love your channel. You rock brotherman!!
what an absolute monster, even with a 2-into-2. good lord
Great Tommy glad to see you back
What a sound from that beast. Amazing
Awesome job again tommy thing sounds brilliant
What an awesome build!!
Wow what an amazing job you did! Beautiful build. Amazing power and dyno tuning
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
Stoked RUclips recommended this. Absolutely awesome
Amazing results, and she sounds , crazy mean!
Incredible power, great job on this!
Thanks
That beast sounds vicious!! Great work man, love the channel 🤘🤘
Cheers mate. Thanks for the support
I've been waiting for this! This is the dream build for any performance Harley lover! It went into the perfect bike also! Love your channel hope to see many more radical builds by you.
Thanks for sticking around to check it out.
Glad you're enjoying the channel
Incredible work… I just found you and am definitely subscribing.
Please do this to my FatBoy!
Holy Smokes !!!
Wonderful job mate.
That thing is a MONSTER!
Very VERY fun to ride on the street.
Glad you filmed this test ride.
8 min mark - some little Japanese thing just rode past hahahaha
Yes!!!! Love seeing videos from you again!!!
Thanks for your patience!
Absolute beast... great job 🤘💨
it's a real monster, excellent job👍🏻
Bad ass. I just ordered a Fuel Moto 128 set up and exhaust for my ST. Can't wait.
what a beast! great job!
Brilliant video👍🏻 seems an unusual choice of exhaust for a performance convention..but I do understand with that amount of power and torque any pipe would work, excellent👍🏻
Thanks for watching
Sounds like an absolute beast! Great job. I wish it was mine lol
Me too!
I have the CR 480 cam on my 117 and I absolutely love it over the 475 cam
That thing is gnarly
🙌🙌🙌🙌 all hail to the master!
Excellent video, very cool ride and sounds so sweet + with all that power. Job well done mate, ride safe. Cheers
Cheers for the positive feedback & support mate. Thanks for watching
What a weapon awesome cheers
Amazing build. Come to the states and build us that beast. I also think 2-1 looks like a leaf blower and I prefer 2-2 but it's just different preference.
Would love to go over to the States one day!
Some love the 2-1 & some don't. Personally I prefer the 2-1 pipes on these style of bikes & performance baggers. All other Softails should definitely have the 2-2
Another great episode but must say I've been waiting for you to post something.
Living The F🤪KING Dream ❗
Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾🐾
Thanks for your patience
What a motor. What a bike. What a joy it must be to ride. Have a feeling you’ll be putting a chain conversion soon. Incredible.
Cheers mate.
Yeah it's definitely very exciting to ride.
Is there a strength benefit going with a chain?
@@TeensierPython yeah I think around 150hp ya might wanna start considering a chain. Me personally , I prefer a belt. Never had enough hp to worry about it.
@TeensierPython - chain final drive? Yes for sure. A chain final drive is much stronger than a belt. However the belts these days are very strong and will hold up to just about anything most guys can throw at it.
I've got a 05 fxdl and if I win the lottery, I will be building the bike in this video. Awesome bike.
I had a 18 Breakout and watched one of these videos a few years back and thought exactly the same thing. Got the bike built by Tommy, still haven't won lotto. 😂
🤣😂👌💯
That’s amazing mate
Thanks! It definitely turned out better than I expected with the exhaust choice.
That thing is crankyyyyy
What an ignorant sound! I love it!
Nice work sounds angry..👍🏻🇦🇺
It's a monster
Just bought this bike mate, APE are just swapping out all my parts off my old Lowrider ST. Had the silverback package making 172/162. Can’t wait to ride feel the difference! Love the video mate nice work! 🍻
Awesome stuff mate!!! I'm sure your going to love it!!!
Love watching your expertise. Enjoy seeing what goes on inside these engines. Just bought a black Lowrider S 117 and these Harleys are a completely new experience for me. Been riding a Z900 and Z900RS and one jug is bigger than the whole 948cc 4. Anyways, I wish I was in Australia so I could ride all year long. Idaho sucks for riding. Freezing or frying. Thanks.
Thanks for watching 👍
I hope you enjoy your new found experience with Harley-Davidson
@@MasterTechMiller I will for sure. Now I can get some respect.
Nice work mate, good to see the new material 🎉
I think you need a bit more beef on your arms to handle this beast 😂😂
Spaghetti arms
Sh*t.. that thing def gets out of its own way.. very cool..
I'm a new stock 117 rider and gradually working my way up through the available power. I can't imagine what your bike would fell like opened up on the road. Plenty of rope for the novice to hang himself with...lol. Enjoy!
I would love to hear the warm idle but from the little sound before you started the dyno process she sounded mean angry. Now on the power is what I would love to have on cruising/touring speeds low rpm meaning longevity sort of😂😂
Very Bad Ass Build. On the right Machine. Cheers!!
Hey man, i keep watching this video over and over, love this build on this bike....everyones doing a 2 into 1 stainless pipe nowadays, which are beautiful bad ass pipes, but i absolutely love the look of the radius pipes
Thanks mate. I'm glad you're enjoying the content. These FREEDOM 2-2 pipes are the best performing 2-2 on the market.
I agree totally on the dual pipes. Those fit this rig perfectly.
Great job mate. Hard to believe the std running gear would last long with that tq and hp.
If miss used and abused, any drive trains components will fail even if they're a tough aftermarket option.
Thr OEM compensator has been replaced with the billet steel option & the clutch has the upgraded 1275nm springs in it.
For day to day riding around & having the off bit of 'fun' the OE transmission will be fine. Sure they're known to break 3rd gear from time to time but that was a risk the owner wanted to take at this stage.
Brilliant
Thanks for watching
Wicked
Another great build. I missed any mention of flywheel truing. Apologies if I did
All good. I missed talking about it and showing it. The Flywheel is trued and welded.
@@MasterTechMiller Thank you.
Did not want to seem picky but I have been thinking of doing case up build on 114 FLHCS THANK YOU again
@@MasterTechMiller --->With counter balancers or no counter balancers?
@@amphibdriver1 both balance shafts are installed.
I dont think i want to go that damn fast at all man im sorry two wheels to close to heaven
Sweet Jesus 😎
👍👍👍👍👍👍

Amazing work as usual. Thank you...what's your opinión on Andrews Chromoly push rods for the M8?
I haven't seen them yet. Can you comment a link to them?
@@MasterTechMiller ok give me a few hours or go to Andrews performance. Thank you
Very nice job my friend. I have the S&S 128 kit in my LowriderS 143 HP 160 FT TQ and it rips. Now I wonder what that 143 kit feels like.
Thanks again MTM.
That's a tough kit you've got yourself there mate.
How much did the build cost you? I’m thinking of running it because it has one of the best sounds & reliability rate
The 143ci option starts at around $12,000aud
@@MasterTechMiller the 128 kit not the 143 I’m no money man I’ve got two other bikes that need loving too 😂
@Brandon Wong Not sure on the price of the S&S kit, but our 128ci APE Stump Puller kits are around $6500aud ride in ride out, depending on current bike configuration (cam, exhaust, air filter, tuning module already fitted etc).
Generally most guys have a full stake 1 kit with a tuning module & that is normally 6.5k ride in ride our for a 128ci kit
so no break in period for new top getting new lowrider ST and some say no need and some say keep 3K rpm either probably ok. great video
No 'Break In process' the bike should be properly dyno tuned to get the correct AFR & Ignition tables.
A freshly built brand new engine should be heat cycled, then dyno tuned ASAP
Sensational! 👍. Hey Tom, have you done any tuning using the Cobra 909 Speedster 2-2 shorts? Any thoughts on this item?
Unfortunately not yet mate.
@@MasterTechMiller Thanks for the reply Tom 👍
Awesome build. Love your videos. Quick question: I know you’ve said the Vance and Hines 2-2 big radius rob quite a bit of horsepower. Do they also rob torque? I’m having a 131 SE crate engine placed into a 2018 Breakout and plan on putting in a CR 512 but I love the look and sound of the V&H big radius 2-2. Thanks for your help!
The V&H big radius do rob HP for sure, as for torque, they do a good job of making decent torque from the low to mid range. After that it's all over from 4000 / 4500rpm
@@MasterTechMiller awesome- you got a new subscriber. Love your content and really appreciate you taking the time to answer questions 😎
@AP cheers for the awesome feedback & support 🍻 👏
Out American’ing America…BEER!! 🍻

Except y’all can’t defend against Fascist Australian Government.. you have no Firearms, your Freedoms you piss away. Yeah, keep dreaming!
Awesome video and crazy good tech. How long have you been a tech and if you don’t mind me asking how old are you. Love you destroying people in the comments btw 🤙🏽
Started working on Harley's back in 2007 & I'm 36.
Cheers for supporting the channel mate 👍 👏
awesome tommy great job,why not the cr 540 or the 540-2 just wondering what do you
think the corrected comp on that thing turned out to be ?
The 536 is basically in-between those 2 cams but still different enough to produce the intended results.
The corrected comp ratio 11.35:1 with a cold crank compression of 248 @ sea level.
@@MasterTechMiller can you run like a 93 octane pump gas With that compression or will it detonate
@Ron Coburn in Australia we have 91, 95 & 98 octane fuels available at the servo. This engine is recommended to run 95 at a MINIMUM.
Will the stock heavy breather produce these results or would it be necessary to change the paper filter element to the K&N high performance type?
Sounds awesome. Have you done anything on a Street Bob 114.
Heaps. Have done 128ci kits,l
Have done 40+hp stage 2 drop in cam kits
Hi Tom, I have a 128 11.1with APE heads and Intake Fueling 521 and full Fuel moto 2/1/2 , it's quick but easy to ride in all conditions.
How does the 143 compare around town, low revs etc with that comp cam etc ?
Top job BTW .
It's actually very well mannered to be honest. Very easy to ride around a lower speeds.
Does get slightly warmer than smaller engine combos but that is to be expected by larger displacement air cooler engine.
back to the stone age - dinosaur
What a beast of a HD motor, Pity the exhaust will dampen the power over a tuned length 2 into 1 pipe. Do you run the cam in above idle ??
All M8 engines have roller cams & roller lifters. No need to run them in at all.
Sick build!! Did you snap a picture of those beautiful pistons because they will never look that nice once the crank case venting blows oil back through the throttle bodies. 🤦♂️😂
Crankcase ventilation aside they get dirty from combustion anyways.
I noticed you use the stock 117 air cleaner. Would it get better results with a bigger breather? Is there a air cleaner that you recommend?
It would definitely make more power with a better air filter like the ventilator extreme (which is what I suggest highly) however this customer loved the look of the OEM Heavy Breather & the 2-2 exhaust.
Tommy, For a Stage 2 upgrade,in a new low rider S 117, what torque cam and which 2 into 1 do you recommend.. thanks for your time.
D&D Lowcat is my choice of pipe. CR480 Camshaft is the best for low end torque
I want one.
Did this guy ever put a 2into1 on it?? I would love to know the numbers if so! Sick ass build MTM!!
Unfortunately not mate.
He did come and see me about 2 weeks later and told me he saw the video & so did a few of his mates. They were all giving him a hard time about not having a 2-1
He started asking me about what options there were but he still never went with one
What did you all do for cooling?
Gnarly. How practical would this be to eat up miles? Can it be ridden hours on end?
Keeping in mind the purpose of the engine. It was built to make hp & go fast. That being said, there is no reason this engine shouldn't last as long as any other big bore high output build.
I always recommend halfing the service intervals when any big bore engine work is done.
If you want a 143ci engine that is made for touring, I would lower the compression ratio & choose a different cam shaft.
@@MasterTechMiller Thanks for the thoughtful response.
Shame about the pipes! Would love to hear the lope once you strap a fab28, bassani, or a hpi on it!!!!
Was that a stock Harley cam plate going in this engine?
Do you know who George Bryce is?
Have you seen his 143ci ?
Is that a stock cam plate/oil pump? If it is it makes me feel better I didn't upgrade mine while doing a measly stage 2 😂
In all honesty the OEM 8 lobe oil pump is absolutely fine to use as is the cam plate.
When guys want to update the cam plate I suggest thr Fueling OE+ plate with the factory OE oil pump
@@MasterTechMiller that's awesome. Keep up the good work 🤙🏽
When you increase the air going into that engine with heads, increased bore, and increased intake diameter, are you also increasing the exhaust diameter?
Are you talking about the the exhaust port or exhaust pipe diameter
@@MasterTechMiller The exhaust pipe diameter
I would assume the exhaust port diameter is already increased
Most aftermarket pipes are larger in diameter than the OEM headers.
Hi Tom, Is it possible to purchase a bime from tbe dealership up there where you are located and have the same rebuild done in this video..
Cheers, loving your channel too mate .
Absolutely mate. We can accommodate just about any request.
This particular bike was purchased from Geelong Harley-Davidson & shipped up to me for the engine build.
Where are you located?
What's your thoughts on Dirty birds 2 into 1 BMF pipes?
I'm yet to use one unfortunately so I can't comment
What's the reasoning behind now doing the cam and top end while it's not on the bike?
The engine cases had to be removed from the chassis for machine work. The 4.5 inch cylinders won't fit otherwise.
For Harleys to be dyno tuned does a power vision need to be purchased?
No. There are a few different types of aftermarket tuning devices. Power Vision is one of them. Direct Link from Technoresearch is another, TTS is another one.
👍🤘😎🇦🇺🍻
what pipes are they?
thanks for the imfo {freedom pipes)
Sharp curve radius
I would’ve thought you’d have used the HPI intake and a good 2 into 1 exhaust.
Did you watch the whole video? I clearly explain why the bike is the way it is.
How is that drive belt holding up with all that torque?
The belts these days are pretty strong. For this bike & it's intended street use it is absolutely fine. Even if a little 'play time' happens from time to time.
If you want to race your bike & give it a hard time I would suggest the consideration of a chain
Tire shredder
How come no billet cam plate???.....awesome bike tho man.
Customers budget
I know if you have to ask but ... a guide for the cost of this level of upgrade please?? Thanks Tommy !
About $15,000aud
@@MasterTechMiller you got robbed if you paid 15k
@Jay Pee I built the bike mate. The customer paid.
The cylinder heads are roughly $3500 the piston & cylinders are $2500
Camshaft $600
Exhaust system $1800
Machine shop for case boring & cylinder decking $800
Compensator ramp $699
Dyno tune $650
Adjustable pushrods $500
Labour $1716 that's roughly $12765
Intake manifold, $900
64mm throttlbody $600
Misc gaskets, seals, oils etc takes it up a fraction more.
I said ROUGHLY 15k in response to the previous comment. Some guys may want a different air filter setup which again will add to the cost.
It is what it is mate. These are Aussie dollars I'm referencing too, just to be clear.
Never liked the big radius but each to own
These are FREEDOM Sharp Curve Radius.
They work far better than the V&H Big radius option.
@@MasterTechMiller cool
does i it have a chain out back ?
Not yet.
2 into 1
I would love to see how it responds to a decent 2-1 pipe.
The owning having watched the video is now contemplating a D&D Fatcat for it.
Can we get a 25 or 30 fuel tank for it you can tour on it ?????
No idea
Is that stock compensator gonna hold up
It's not a stock compensator mate. It's the upgraded billet steel unit from Cycle-Rama
@@MasterTechMiller ohhh.
What exhaust is on it?
Freedom sharp curve radius
What was the total cost of all those mods?
16.5k
I would think it could blow the tire away at will...
What's a set up like that cost?
15k
Why no 2-1 ?
Did you watch the entire video?
How much would it cost to do that to my bike
15 to 17k
NO GALS ?
??
What would this cost?
$15,000aud
How much for this $50k?? Seems all HD wants is more $$ than a bike needs to be. Yeah they look/sound good but really do I need 140ci to have a nice ride? Not really.
Freedom of choice to do whatever you want
