Been searching forever for this video. I remember when Carl Bradshaw (the Jamaican actor playing the teacher in this video) explained that he taught the African dancers in the video the Bogle dance (a Jamaican dance created by Dancehall icon Gerald "Bogle" Levy - RIP). He said they learned the dance (they're doing it in the boat @0:37) quickly.
How much poorer the world would be without the various strains of music from Africa! As old as this video ism it is still fresh in 2024. I wonddr where those children are today?? The singing teacher is telling the whole story.

If any friend of mine should walk into my home to hear me playing this very music, they probably would think of how old- fashioned I truly am I. May I respectfully use this great opportunity to CONGRATULATE brother Baaba Maal. Also the great renowned Rapper. The Amazing beautiful students and the thrilling dancers; all put together to bring out the best in such a song that I will describe as. “ enchanting.” In 1995 or 96, if I am not mistaken, I listened to this music for the first and last time in Nigeria, but didn’t get enough of it. Few weeks ago; probably, early February this year 2023, it came into mind even though I don’t understand Senegalese, I enjoy this music so much. Thanks to all.
I saw Baaba Maal perform some of the "Nomad Soul" album and music from other releases live in the pouring rain... a lot of drums (all different kinds) and a beat I felt vibrate through my body. The entire audience was jumping in time to the beat in a pouring rain like I've never seen before or since. Inspiring and memorable!
