I love Orks and T'au for this reason. 2 old Basilisks that I'm not using? Add some panels and bam! Kill Rigs. Old Guardsmen hanging around? Snip the arms and bam! Breachers. The push-fit Reviers? Put on some Burst Cannons and bam! Stealth Suits. Empty sprues and popsicle sticks? Glue them together and bam! Trukk.
Recently i made a "night lords" lord in terminator armor using parts of the aos start collecting khorne "khorne lord", swapping around the head and weapon arms and adding a backpack including a wonky chainglaive made by glueing two chainswords together. Also one my favorite kitbashes i made so far is using the bladeguard lieutenant to make a dark admech techpriest/warpsmith for my iron warriors, replacing the shield arm with a power axe, adding some robot arms out of sprue bits and using a skitarii helmet for the head. painted some of the parts like it was warpstone to make it look nice and chaos-y. Some simpler conversions include using the plague surgeon sword arm on a normal plague marine for the champion or making a "plasma cannon" out of heavy bolter and plasma rifle parts for my legionaries.
Just binged a few of your videos! Your videos are extremely helpful in my quest to motivate myself to paint my Drukhari. You video on the incubi was fun to me because I have had a similar experience painting my incubi. This video was great! I love seeing some inspiration to leave the box and just do what you want. I love your idea for the mandrakes and wish I saw it before getting ahold of 4 boxes of the finecast ones! All this to say, you have earned my subscription!
Im really looking forward to getting more time on my hands so i can work on my Tsons demon prince , im using Abbadon as the base with terminator bits from the scarab ocult boys since the armors are pretty decent to interchange bits , and using the wings from the Druati revenant from AoS sylvaneth since they resemble insect wings cuz scarabs are neat , keep up the awesome work Paul !!
My "warboss" is Da Red Gobbo on stilts, wearing a fancy hat and, my lore is every time he loses a fight he runs away and comes back wearing a different hat, pretending to be a new warboss
I made a death guard daemon Prince from a marneus Calgar model and a bunch of other stuff (including a bit of Drukhari stuff) and while I haven’t painted it the finished model looks stunning and I’m really happy and proud with it. Chaos and eldar are really cool armies to kitbash as they’re similar to stuff from age of signal and fantasy and as well as that both factions can be quite fantastical and ornate! Orks are another good army to do conversations with as their stuff are a ramshackle of different parts put together and are thus rather easy to kitbash. I don’t play Orks but I know someone who does and I think they may be using a baneblade to convert it for his ork army…
Kitbashed a beastmaster from left over Reaver bits, 2 splinter rifles to make the skyboard. Used the female wych that should stand on the side of the Venom, used the beast skull from the venom as well to make a helmet and used agoniser and a hand holding a chain weapon to act as the link to the skyboard. Got a piece of the chain and hooks underneath and some extra skulls to get the pose right.
My rule is to never be afraid of ruining a model no matter how unique or cool it is. Because as long as you have the money you can just always build and paint another. And if you don’t try and fail you will never improve. On another note, I’ve never been into eldar/dark eldar but seeing all these cool conversions make me wish I had more time to hobby. Must resist another army 😂
One of my joys in live is taking Primaris Marines and 'bashing them into Chaos units. It's actually quite fun, really changed the way that I look at Primaris releases! My current project (besides building themed CSM for my marked Legionnaires) is making a Possessed model that actually _looks_ like the picture I saw ages ago with the scything talons growing out of the power pack. Now all I have wait for is the Tyranid bits to arrive!
I once made a techmarine using only bits from the devastator box. It looks great I used the backpack from the rocket launcher, the robot arm for the Sargent and cut the axe off a hand to put on there, and the flamer bit for the back pack gun thing.
If you buy a talos kit and use it to make a cronos you basically have a factory of spare parts left over for making grotesques. (5 spare masks and tons of tubes/techy stuff) I found a few perfect Reaper minis, (formorian giant, ogre matriarch, stitch golem etc, pretty much anything that looks abominable) and now I have some really cool and disgusting unique grotesques that feel like individual horrific slap-job science experiments, rather than some weird mass produced running guy.
Just recently I’ve done some stuff with chaos space wolves. I wanted them to look like scavengers for the word bearers so I messed with armor, screwed up some of the teeth on the chainblades, and swapped some shoulder pouldrons to give the effect of them being trophy takers. They’re going to be used as chaos chosen on tabletop
If only I was confident in my kitbashing. The most I've done is putting the swarm lord head onto a winged hive tyrant and using one of the sacs for one of its guns to stabilize the wings because it simply would not stay. at all.
A bit late but I personally really like conversations I really like taking space marine units and either making first born primiaris scale or hqs into space wolf specific ones
I built a terminator captain out of spare bits miliput and greenstuff. I got one of the old plastic WFB goblin wolf rider wolves and shaped him to fit over the terminator's shoulders then moulded in new fur and face. It's not perfect, but I don't have time for perfect. He's pretty good. I gave him a power claw by drilling 4 small lengths of wire into his knuckles then greenstuffing the core of the blades for a firm armature and then miliput over the top to get the sharp edges. And his base is 7 old plastic dark eldar with skeleton bits. Gave one of them a skeleton head and then miliput sculpted a screaming face over half of it, so it looks like her face is half melted down to the bone. Then I sulpted her a rounder firmer bum. And I gave another of them bigger boobs. Epic.
These look really cool! Especially all the unique Archons you made. I like the ones that use the Prince of the Crimson Court and the Sisters of Silence as the basis the most, they look real nice! I myself have only recently dived into the world of Kitbashing and converting. I was in the poscess of converting models for my Desciples of Tzeentch army for Age of Sigmar, before I decided to jump ship back to Gloomspite Gitz. I started with a simple arm swap on one of the Pink Horrors, to make a better looking Standard Bearer, but eventually I'm going to go deeper. I'll be converting the Chaos Legionaires into more Human looking Tzaangor, because I really don't like the bird heads and legs. Same with Tzaangor Enlightened, I'll be using the new Chaos Chosen as the basis for them.
I did a very basic one, drilled some holes into a DnD Nightstalker and added some Tyranid wings to make a demon. He came out pretty cool 😁 Gonna have to start keeping the bits now to play with! 😅 instead of donating them.
I really like your kitbashes! I have been working on some Nugle-theamed AdMech for some time now - now adding some Traitor Guard. I have also been trying to turn some Escher into Veteran Guardsmen (some of them came out decent!).

I could show off my Lhamean converted into a Haemonuculi, my kitbashed Medusae and Grotesques, and I think I have a crazy Talos Pain Engine with robotic spider legs. I built a succubus from the venom wyches and am currently working on kitbashing the plastic archon, gave him the bird arm from the Soulshackle Box because having a black raven as your animal sidekick Just screams "evil overlord" to me

So as my first army I've been building night lords. Very specific look, and literally no options from gw, meaning that if I wanted that distinctive Night Lords flair kit bashing was literally a requirement. Forgeworld has some conversion bits but not many. So this meant my options were looking into third party bit creators or cutting apart a bunch of vampire and undead models from AoS. I opted for the former because it's been cheaper but there's no way I can bring these into my local gw shop.
Every drukhari player has more archons than they know what to do with. They're fun to convert and so so many different ideas, they're just not good on the tabletop lol
I spent way too much time ”cleaning up” my Sisters of battle, gave the chainsaw girls proper skirts out of green stuff, and gave most less bdsm heads! Made them a little more family friendly! 😅
i was going to leave this comment on your tsons or drukhari video where you played a game and made mistakes. best advice anyone has ever given me with regards to improving at this game is to slow down. Turn 1 is for establishing your position so you can get the jump on your enemy and make sure you dont get jumped on yourself. turn 1 try doing the bare minimum to stop yourself from loosing on points and try to bait yout opponent into over comiitng. also. HIDE EVERYTHING YOU CAN. good luck x
Archons are HQs yeah? Doesn't it get... tiring making new ones? Like you can't ever use them all surely? Maybe we're just from different worlds, but man I do not have the budget for that Jazz. Curious of your thoughts/motivations? Just for fun?
A lot of the boxes I get to make various Archons/Succubi are parts that can also be used for other conversions. I just like making unique characters. You're right that I can't really use them all, and realistically I shouldn't make so many, especially as I've got a lot built but none painted! Fortunately, because of the base sizes, they can be used as just other things. e.g succubi can be used as a wych with special weapon to make them stand out a bit, or used in games like Kill Team to make each model more unique. Do I do that? No, but at least I have justification/excuses to my madness!

I like putting spare Tau parts on stuff. Either as looted gubbins for my Orks or Astra Militarum fighting for the Greater Good
