    UGH, quit petting him, lady! I don't understand why people think it's EVER ok to reach down and pet a strange dog! No matter how friendly you think they are, that's just NOT smart! Thanks for sharing! Gemini, my Service Dog, doesn't fit under things very well anymore (joys of a Great Dane as a Service Dog, but he's AMAZING).

      @@stevefoxyorktheguidedog4350 Absolutely, love watching! Yeah, he's big, but Great Danes are an AMAZING breed! He actually has his own RUclips channel, if you ever want to listen. I narrate most of the videos from his perspective, partially because I thought it was a cool way to do it, but partially also to help those that can't see the videos well (or at all). I'm still working to improve the narration as far as specifics (instead of, "this is how I flop," actually describe it better), but it's fun to do and a great distraction from law school at times!

      Shanda Vander Ark I have the same issue with my adit (golden retriever named Murphy). Constantly have people patting, calling out, and asking what he does for me (this one makes me very uncomfortable as I don’t like to talk about my conditions with random strangers), Drives me insane. I’ve even had people making barking sounds at hit from across the shops.

    Omg find a seat has hilarious results sometimes.
    I've seen guide dogs take their handler to occupied seats and ny assistance dog now takes it upon herself to find a seat on the bus when I don't want her to, just cuz I taught her to do it she thinks she's always supposed to, so I'll be trying to go up the back and she's like 'ooh let's go in here!' 🤣

    Hi Steve really enjoyed your conversation explaining about how vision loss can be isolateing
    This is a very timely video for me because I had to discuss this with a friend myself just the other day
    I am vision impaired and I am lucky that I have enough eyesight to be able to walk freely into rooms and navigate most situations on my own with very few limitations
    My biggest issue is recognising people knowing where people are and sometimes yes getting confused communications with people due to not being able to see someone’s face all that well
    Video gets some positive reaction and good circulation thank you

    Good on you mate, sounds like it was a very successful trip. Oh the Grandel duke of York, he has no distractions, he marched right up to the escalator and he marched right back again. Wish I had the confidence to go to a big city shopping center on my own. I wouldn’t do it before all of this craziness begun and I will definitely not do it now. I’m too much of a simple, boring, country bogan. However, I am looking forward to taking my girl to our big shopping center again one day soon, when it is necessary. As for that lady, petting him on the head, that drives me nuts! I get very frustrated when people interfere with my dog, as you may know. I don’t mind people watching us, if they come and interrupt me though, it stresses me out.

      I couldn’t think of anything else at the time that the grand old juke of York had At the time, no distractions just fitted haha. As for my little girl, I can’t actually give her food reward for anything, if she knew that I had kibble on my person at any time she would not work, she would just bend to my pocket and wait for me to give her the treat. I really have to use pets and positive words with this one.

      Steve Fox & York the Guide Dog I sometimes like to take the time to explain to people about assistance dogs, but sometimes I don’t have enough “spoons” to do so. And it really shouldn’t always have to be on us. Maybe if the government ran an ad campaign or something saying the dos and donts of interacting with assistance and guide dogs that would be amazing.

    As a blind/vision impaired person are there changes to card payment terminals that would make them more accessible?
    Im thinking there is a lot of trust that is placed onto the operator to put in the correct amount to be charged.
    I know as a person with disabilities ive been very cautious of payment terminals that i cant see easily that the correct amount has been input, as ive had attempts from others to charge incorrect amounts, sometimes it accidental others its on purpose, either input too much or too little.
    Ps if/when you pay by card will your phone tell you the amout that has been deducted from your account/card? Would this be helpful or a hinderence also pending location could you see this causing other problems?

      @stevefoxyorktheguidedog4350  3 года назад +1
