way prefer the original version recorded on the French Riveria...the original with Lalo, Leo Wright and Elek carries more of a poignant feeling..this is too fast and lacks the feeling of the other.
Porem isso aqui é outra coisa. Claro que não são sambistas Dizzy e os outros, mas eles estão tocando uma coisa legal e um versão forte. E isso é também uma homenagem a musica brasilera.
Anderson Silva Nada a ver com Jazz.Que besteira ! Eles tentaram tocar bossa muito rápido e com uma batida no pedal do bumbo. Isso não é bossa. Existe um disco do Elvis chamado "Bossa Nova Baby" que é uma tragédia. Tocam rumba com maracas, timbales e quetais e chamam de bossa. Americano só tocou bossa com músicos brasileiros. Fato.

Saw Dizzie at Birdland in 1962 and my pal Joe Shutak bought him a drink and shot the breeze with him at the small bar. Shorty was the doorman.

back then there was no universal agreement yet how to play bossa nova on the drum kit.
Everything would have been different, I think. The piano solo, the bass...these great musicians gave a jazz version of Jobim's great composition.

A questão é que o jazz que absorve os outros ritmos, até na melodia do sax e do trompete vc percebe que a influência deles no jazz que faz isso
