    I started losing my balance three years ago. Then I experienced muscle weakness in my right arm a year and a half ago. It grew worse. I started having muscles twitching a little over a year ago. I was diagnosed with ALS on Nov 30, 2021. My muscles continue to weaken. It’s affecting all my limbs now. I can still walk but need a walker. Get out of breath quickly. I use a breathing machine almost all day now. Speech is slurred when I’m tired. My swallow is still pretty good. I do choke on water sometimes. I’ll be put on hospice when I can only speak a couple of words before needing air and my cough is very weak. I spend the day in my recliner. I struggle to turn over in bed at night. It’s a terrible disease but my hope is in the Lord. The best is yet to come!

      MMA might be your answer. Training too hard makes your muscles twitch. =)

      Nerd Not very good man, I feel the cold affects me very much and sometimes i feel left hand and feet tingling. Back of my head as well sometimes, depends on my mood and temperature and what I eat. But i juice fasted for 7 days and all the symptoms went away, came back after i started eating shitty fast foods again. So i’ll be going on a 30 day fast soon!
      Thanks for asking.

      Abishai Castaneda Really? So many diseases have similar symptoms. But I know the cause of mine and treated it.
      I went to a neurologist(which is a family member) and he insisted an MRI. Turns out my neck is straight, no curve as it should have. Military neck. This can cause a lot of issues. He recommended me to back off from any desk work and do neck exercises, this helped tremendously. Went to a chiropractor and he pretty much cleared up the rest. Now I’m perfectly fine, gained 11 kilograms from bodybuilding and eating properly. No more cold feeling as well, i think it was because I was skinny. Now I can go outside in the snow in my shorties lol.
      My neck still isn’t optimal, but that’s because I had a desk job again for the last 6 months... which I quit a month ago lol. Not worth it at all!
      Thanks guys!

    The changes are rapid, not gradual. Usually dead within 2 years of diagnosis. Diagnosis is usually 1 yr after first symptoms.

      your dad which I hope is doing fine, also had weakness probably. twitching alone is a 90% sign of anxiety and an after-workout process.

    • @RobG95
      @RobG95 6 лет назад +5

      Twitch can be the first sign of ALS. But, it is seldom, if ever the only symptom to appear. If you have twitching without muscle loss, loss of dexterity or clinical weakness (this does not mean one day you do 10 push ups, then next day you do 5, clinical weakness is when a muscle group does not work, therefore you wouldn't be able to even do a push up), then it's incredibly likely that the twitching is benign.

    • @pamelaharris5055
      @pamelaharris5055 6 лет назад +3

      It actually IS in a lot of people, including my father. Remember that the symptoms in patients with ALS are highly variable.
      The involuntary fasciculations started in his thumbs, followed by a loss of thumb control. He is in the late stages of ALS, with significant muscle loss, trouble swallowing, and an inability to write, feed himself, and vocalize. His thighs and upper arms are constantly twitching.

    • @rebekahsegun8319

      How to tell the difference between benign twitching and ALS twitching:
      If the twitches migrate from one area of your body to another, then the twitches are benign. If they start in an isolated area then gradually migrate to another area of your body overtime, the twitches are most likely a sign of ALS. If the twitched stop when you move said muscle, then the twitches are benign. If they carry on twitching regardless of how much you move them, then it's most likey a sign of ALS. For me, my twitches constantly migrate from one area to another and they normally stop when I move my muscles. So my twitches are most likely benign

      Calm down. I did the same thing when I was a kid, whenever I felt sick or something was happening to me, I would go on the internet to research it and would end up finding all these horrible diseases and stuff and being convinced that I had it. For example, (this is gonna sound stupid), when I got this sore in my mouth that wouldn't go away, I though it was a cancerous tumor. (please don't ask why I though that). At my regular appointment, my dentist took one look at and and was like "that's just a cut cause from the wire in your braces". Anyways, what I'm saying is that your body is still growing and you're gonna get sick and you're gonna feel things, but trust me YOU'RE FINE. Just try not to get stressed out about everything, a lot of times stress can cause a lot of symptoms and just make you not feel good and general, so just take a deep breath because you don't have ALS and you're gonna be fine.

      The youngest person to ever be diagnosed with als was 16. And that was extremely one off. Usually als only occurs in people between 20-75 and the older the higher the chance
