- I finally set up my main bookshelves in my new house! I organize/reorganize my shelves, second guess myself constantly, but ultimately I think I achieved the neutral bookshelf look that perfectly compliments my dark academia bookshelves. My library is complete. For now.

I’ve tried making my bookshelves look cute and aesthetically pleasing so many times and it always stresses me out. I switched to just alphabetizing the authors and letting it look how it looks and all of the stress went away lol. Since I read so many books by the same authors or really long series I feel like the shelves still look pretty cute.
So glad you said this. Because I do this too. I cannot have my bookshelf organised in a way that's just "oh it just looks beautiful". For me, it needs to have a particular order. It could be genre, authors, publishers or simply alphabetical. I like looking at other people's aesthetics bookshelves but I can never. And I also don't have the patience to do it.
Yeah I organise by genre kind of, but alphabetically! It's less stressful for me than trying to make it look a particular way
As much as i'm a book hoarder, i like the idea of my shelves representing my taste in books, so keeping books that i don't like really throw that off
Exactly how I've been feeling!
I wish I could make my bookshelves look aesthetically pleasing but I cannot EVER separate books in the same series or written by the same author. It would kill me inside. I once spent $200 on the Fairyloot edition of Queen of Nothing because I had the other 2 books (i missed the special edition box when it released) and it was actually making me lose sleep not having the 3rd book to match. So I completely understand what you mean by "It has to be that way even if I'm not sure I like it that way."
I have problems LMAO.
Wooo that's a lot but I bet the edition is gorgeous 📖✨
@@JulEnglefaris yeah. Thank god for companies like after pay and klarna so i don’t have to pay it all at once 🤩
Ugh yes, having a matching set shouldn't matter and yet it takes up so much space in my brain if I don't have it
watching this after I just tried to re-arrange mine just made me feel so much better, because I was getting so annoyed at where I was putting them and ended up putting them back to where they was and that irritated me. So to see you are also struggling with yours puts peace back in my soul. I also love your marvel sweatshirts!! you are a vibe! 🖤🖤
Exactly what my evening needed 😌 love your content!!!
changes can be overwhelming sometimes and not always one can be happy with the results. i am happy tough that you worked this out! your library look very nice girl
I could never do my shelves like this but i think they look pretty.
i think they look great! bookshelves are always a work in progress i think. I am a turned around book look person lol. but I only have 2 and a half shelves. I love the neutral vibe and it kinda calms my anxiety in a way looking at it. read books are still faced out but I only have a few physical unread books.
I 100% agree that the turned around look is extremely calming! I didn’t even go all out for this one but the neutral pull relaxes me so much
I think your shelves look beautiful, I especially love the ones at the top with the green/grey and blue/purple they are stunning ❤
Had the same mini crisis a few months ago and got rid of a lot of books ; it reduced my anxiety and helped me appreciate more the books that I do have on my shelves ! But it's a process for sure haha
That's so good to hear that it helped with your anxiety because that's definitely one of the reasons I've been considering it!
I love that The Maidens cover is turned out because it is stunning! ❤️❤️❤️I think the bookshelves turned out beautiful!
Yesss! It's definitely one of my favorite covers
Thanks you
I couldn't do this... I worked at a public library for years... mine are alphabetical by author, then title/series order. That also made me prefer hardcover. 😅 covering them is SO much easier.
I screamed when I saw this posted!!!
Living for this video
I feel the aesthetic bookshelf pain. I've a weird OCD-type thing about colors in my space so I ended up getting some paper rolls in a few shades of tan at the craft store and covering every neon colored book I could, which then led to me also covering all the black spines because they stuck out, but then the white spines stuck out as well so I had to cover those too. Started a project to cover 25ish books, ended up covering 400+. 😭😂
Can we see a photo?
amazing video like always!!!
Sooo sweet to watch you interact with Luna bug. A relaxing and calm video when I am sicm.
She demands attention and I am but a humble servant haha
This is a nice video.i love it 💕👍👍
just heard one second and i knew... ✨Would've, Could've, Should've✨ time
Your bookshelves our stunning! Loved the video as always.
yessssss definitely one of my favs on midnights!!
Just coming to say hi! Just found your channel and I ADORE your vibe ✨️ ❤️
thank you so much🖤
would've could've should've ❤️
All I can say is that beautiful amazing and fantastic book 📖 shelves love you and your amazing channel Merry Christmas 🎄 for you and your family ❤❤❤❤
Thank you & happy holidays to you as well!
So satisfying 😍 also nice BP jumper 🙈
thank youuuu
🖤🖤✨
Ngl, if it just has the Tetris effect, I’ll love the bookshelf, I think that makes them way better no matter what
And I also like that it’s mostly black&white ‘cause it’s totally her! Like she IS a black&white person and to me, the most important thing in a bookshelf is that it screams to me the reader who has it, and this one does it, at least for me 🥰✨
ahhh thank you! I definitely feel a bit monotone as well lol and I really appreciate your comment
This video just arrived in my feed. One way I found to unhaul without feeling the pain too much is a Little Free Library. I haven’t checked out your other vids and don’t know if you have one already, designating books to go there helps let go of some.
Hmm I actually don't know about this! Is it similar to the mini libraries people set up in places to trade books?
@@BrittanytheBibliophile That's exactly it. If you go to their website, you can order a kit to build one or a ready-made one or build one yourself. Then you can register with Little Free Library and they will send you an official number and a plaque to place on the library and they will place its coordinates on their map. There are no personal identifying details. Just a number and a tag. When I did it, I ordered a self-inking stamp from Zazzle with our LFL charter number and the quote associated with them - "Always a gift, never free" and stamp the inside of a book I place out there. We also have a couple nearby who does geocaching and they hid a box inside our LFL and its coordinates are on their national website too. I do try to curate my LFL. I don't put out junk books. Sometimes people will add junk books, because that's another aspect. People can take books and add their own books to your library. I've also gotten some gems that people placed in mine. Sorry, that was a long answer.
I think you’re the only one I’ve seen so far with majority of the collection are Hardbound copies and with Becca Fitz books. lol. Refreshing. I like hardbound but they’re just difficult to maintain and I hate ruining good books.
My bookshelves are cluttered. I really need to go through and organize them.
I have something I call my "2nd tier books" where I keep 4 and 5 stars on my shelves, and ones I'm lukewarm about but can't bear to part with I keep in boxes in the basement, just in case I want them later
This is the kind of a set up I would consider! But I hate boxing away my books smh
Oh my God, I was just thinking about doing exactly that when I read your comment! Because I have such a hard time getting rid of books. Even if I really didn't like them 🙈
Curious, where do you put your books when you’re bookshelves are full? All the other ones and new ones you buy or the overflow
I just fit them into the shelves! When they’re particularly full then I basically have to reorganize the shelves every time I get something new
I like that it kind of looks like black and white books are in the middle with the colored ones almost surrounding it.
Yesss, that is definitely how it ended up!! I like it too
The amount of white and black books you have is crazy lol. I swear my shelves look like colour puked in them
I feel like the white ones are hard to find lolol
I wish i could make my shelves look aesthetic but it physically pains me to turn around books, spit up series and don't have my shelves organized by genre or author (for me personally genre works best)
where did you get those white pants? They look cute!
They were from Tiger Mist! I haven't seen them sold in a few years which is a shame because they used to sell it in a few colors and I only got the white ones and fell in LOVE with how comfy they are
@@BrittanytheBibliophile omg they do look comfy from what I can tell!
I really don't understand turning books backwards if there's nothing special on the edge like a cool spray or stenciling. I recently completed my own set of built-ins and I think I've rearranged it like 10 times now. I just can't get it quite right
i think it's fair to say that bookshelves are never truly complete haha, rearranging feels like it happens daily
I see that you haven’t read black cake (since it’s not turned around on the top) if you end up seeing this comment this is me telling you it’s a great book in fact it was my favorite of the year and you should read it for sure!
What if someone close to you, that loves you asks you to get rid of your books? How would you respond?
Hmm I guess it would depend in what way they asked. Like if it was because they were taking too much space and they needed it for other things, I'd definitely consider and go through them. BUT if they asked just because they didn't like my collection or just for their own preference I'd likely tell them off and not do it lolol
@@BrittanytheBibliophile Trying to explain that to a non reader. The books are our babies.
Which editions of game of thrones do you have? They're so pretty.
The hardback reissue editions! They're a bit difficult to find since they aren't in print anymore, but so worth it
You are too cool to be true 🤍🤍
Do you have a running list of books you own? Not to be Debbie downer but might be good for insurance purposes
I used to! But not so much anymore, though I have been wanting to just for curiosities sake
Donald Trump would have to join the nation of Islam before I get rid of my books and even then I'd try to negotiate. I have this thing where you can F all the way off because I'm not getting rid of any book. Lol! But tbf Every 3rd month of every 3rd year for 3 days I get nostalgic and desperately want to read that ONE book. The obsessive compulsion that draws me when I NEED to read a specific book that I've read once and only vaguely remember, is too strong. It would drive me crazy to search for said book and repurchase it when all I know is one line. You can't search "dude had a diamond mine and the girl was bad ass I think" and expect everything to be alright. So... I keep them all and buy everything I read even if it was trash lol.
Oh, I would never get rid of books I've already read, because I definitely deal with the same thing haha BUT there are a lot of books that I have bought or received that no longer interest me or that I have a few editions of- those would be more like the books I'd consider ridding myself of
