I love how you painted rocks for fabric weights. I recently decided to use orphan blocks that I made too many, or too many mistakes to use in quilts--I stuffed with walnut shells and use for pattern weights and pin cushions. Your sewing room is not unlike so many others, you have great ideas.
Thank you SO much Renee! That makes me happy! I love your way of using orphan quilt blocks! I have never used walnut shells. I think I need to look into that. Thank you again so much! ❤️
I subscribed immediately once you said 'Hopefully you won't be offended by my junk' 😂😆 I'm going to start saying that every time I let someone into my apartment that's a gas! Thank you 🙏
I thoroughly enjoyed your sewing room tour! I love how you store your presser feet in the little drawers! And the bread box is adorable! I recently organized all my patterns by putting the pattern envelopes in notebooks with clear pockets. Then the pattern and instructions are in manila envelopes that are stored in numerical order by the pattern numbers. I have four notebooks. One for dresses, one for tops, one for bottoms, and one for children's patterns. I can flip through my notebooks, find a pattern i want to make, and then get the pattern and instructions in the bins on the shelf. I found this idea from a couple of RUclips sewists. Take care and happy sewing!
Thank you SO much Nancy. You are so kind. That sounds like a wonderful idea for pattern organization… I have such a hard time finding what I do have… I e actually bought duplicates a time or two. I will have to look into doing that myself! ❤️

Thank you for the room tour. The thrift store desk is fabulous. I use a folding table to cut fabric on in my living room when I sew and love the riser idea; I have a bad back. Thanks again for the ideas and the video. Have a nice day.
Just found you on RUclips and I really enjoyed seeing your sewing room. I’m going to get my husband to make me some clappers now that I know what kind of wood to use. We have some oak firewood and I never thought of using them to make clappers. Love your channel and can’t wait to see what’s next!❤
Thank You SO much Lori. You’ve made my day! I am so happy you found my little video helpful. Yes, oak is wonderful… and I’m so glad your husband can make you a clapper… it really is a treasure! Thank you so much❤️
Thankyou for showing us your room, its so well equipped and everything so easily accessible and organised. I love that you have picked up things here and there and given them a second life and made them work for you. My room is similar, smaller but made up of repurposed and similar sentimental items including my childhood sewing tools and bits and pieces from my Mum. I love my little space and like you only managed a spot for myself when my daughter moved out, we are so lucky to have our own spaces and I appreciate mine everyday! Enjoy your week!
Thank you Dee! I appreciate your comment so much. I have never had a lot of money to put into sewing. I love keeping things out of the trash… and they work well for what I need. I’m so glad we have our spaces! ❤️
Thanks so much for the tour of your sewing room. You have the same philosophy as me. I don’t have anything bought new for mine. I have an antique dresser and mirror that belonged to my late husband, a cabinet I bought an auction 40 years ago, a dresser that my grandmother gave us when we got married. I have my moms sewing machine from 1974, and her sewing box, and many tools. For cutting I have two plastic folding tables I took away from my dad. He wanted to take them for furniture when they went to a gorgeous new assisted living facility. My mother thanked us for vetoing that idea. The only brand new things are two inexpensive bookcases I ordered from Walmart. I needed more fabric and pattern storage. Even the curtains were thrifted for $1 a pair. Like you I’ve sewn on my kitchen table, our utility room, the corner of my bedroom, and on a picnic table when I camp white my daughter. I only have a room since everyone moved out. I live with my son because I can’t live alone anymore. Because my eyesight is failing, too, I recently ordered a used air threading serger, which is the most I’ve spent on anything. I trace my patterns the same way. Then I put the original pdf and the traced pieces in a zippered pouch I get from Amazon. To get it flattened for storage I stick it all under my machine over night.
Thank you SO much Sue! We sound so much alike! I have diabetic retinopathy and my vision isn’t great either! I am so glad you have an airthread serger. They do help a lot. Bless your Dad. Men never want to get rid of anything 😀 I am happy you talked him out of them. I enjoyed your comment so much! ❤️
Lovely sewing room Diann! I loved your creek rock pattern weights. The storage containers for your sewing machine feet and needle storage are great ideas. The Jack n Diann made me chuckle 😁
Hi Diann. This was a ‘real’ sewing room. I loved your commentary as you were going around your room. It was like listening to a friend telling me about their happy space. My sewing room doubles as a dining room when needed but it is similar to yours in that everything has been collected over years. I have subscribed so look forward to watching your videos. I’m from the UK. Karen
I enjoyed my visit to your sewing room today and was happy to see that we have similar ideas for how to make it all work. I too have a clapper like yours and I have another two foot length of the same wood just in case I need another one someday.
Thank you SO much Mary! I’m so glad our rooms are similar. I always feel like mine is so cluttered but… it has everything I need. That’s a great idea on having some spare wood in case you need another clapper! I might have to check the wood pile. 😊❤️
Wonderful peek into your sewing room thank you. I am in awe of all your pairs of scissors and I think you have everything anyone could ever want 👏🏼. I have those magnetic dishes for pincushions too and wow aren't they strong. I keep it on my ironing board and also have a job to pull it off😂. They are designed for mechanics so I'm told. Thanks again ❤
Thank you SO much Carole. It’s a bit of a mess most of the time. 🤣 YES, those magnetic dishes are strong! I like the larger one best as I don’t stick my fingers as much. I do have a lot of scissors… some are many years old and some probably have outlived their better days. I hate to get rid of anything in there. ❤️
Your sewing room is wonderful, cheery & so well organized, I love it! I set up one in my finished garage. But parts of it are in the house, & it's not nearly as tidy as yours. I try but sometimes it gets away from me. In your room my favorites are the rainbow display of thread, so pretty, the tailors clapper, so cherished, & that old sewing basket, very similar to one I have from my Mom. Ty for sharing.
Thank you SO much Georgia! I am so happy you liked my little room. I think creative people have to be a bit messy! We would never get anything done if we were always cleaning up! 🤣 I bet your room is wonderful. I enjoy those thread racks so much. I hope to add some colors I’m missing soon. I know you cherish your Mom’s basket! Thank you for watching and for your kind comment! ❤️
@@DebsWay You are the funny one! Mine is usually messy with patterns and scraps laying about! I think we creative people have too be messy! It feeds our creativity! That’s what we will say 😂❤️
Thank you for sharing your special place😊. I love seeing how others organize their spaces; it gives me inspiration on what works. I love the round needle boxes and see a trip to harbor freight in my future. I asked for a tailors clapper for Christmas and my husband made me one as well.
Thank you Pamela! I love sewing room tours too! I saw some of the round needle boxes at Walmart the other day in the jewelry making section. They looked just like the ones I god at harbor freight. So that’s another option. It’s great to have husbands that are willing to help us with tools and things for our sewing! Thank you for commenting! ❤️
I shared this with my 30-something goddaughter who recently made a dress for country dancing and called me to ask what to do with her "pattern pins." I suggested the magnetic saucers. Now that I forward your video to her I'm sure she will have more questions for me, if she takes the time to watch it :-).
Oh Judy, that’s wonderful! Thank you SO much! I hope she will find it useful. I think it’s wonderful that she made her dress. Sewing seems to be making a come back and I am thrilled! Thank you for watching and sharing! ❤️
Thank you for the tour of your sewing room. .I feel like I was in the room with you, your presentation is so natural. .and what a lot of inspiration!! I'm heading upstairs to my sewing room right now (one of my older, grown kid's bedrooms that doubles as the grandkids room when they stay over) and will take a look around at what needs organizing, haha!!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful sewing room. I did crack up laughing when you said that about teach your children to sew and they won't have any money to buy drugs LOL LOL and you are absolutely right, that looks more like my sewing room except I only have a little over half of a room, the other part is office
Thank you SO much Diane! I have thought of that funny saying so many times! I am happy you laughed! I think most of us have made do with whatever space we can get. I appreciate your watching and your comment! ❤
What a great sewing room. I would just love to be able to have everything in one room instead of spread around different rooms. I think your dress looks so nice on you and fits you perfectly. x
Thank you SO much Rosie! You are so kind. It is a lot easier having everything in one room… and not having to put everything away every time we stop for the day. I used to keep my sewing things in a tub under the bed. I love the dress… I’ve made it a couple other times… I would like to make one in rayon as it would drape nicely… not sure if that’s a recommended fabric or not. Thanks again ❤️
I loved this video and your sewing room! The hardest part of sewing a garment for me is dragging out my sewing machine (in cabinet), clearing the dining table for cutting and construction , getting out all my necessary things and setting up my ironing board with iron in some little space left so I can still move lol. I look longingly at our small room currently used as an office for a someday sewing room maybe❤
Thank you SO much Mary! I totally get it. By the time we get everything we need set up… I’m too tired to care about sewing! I am thankful to have a little room. I think you can make that office into a great sewing room!! And if you have too… you can use it for both office and sewing space. Just one side helps. Thank you for watching and commenting! Keep me posted on what you do!! ❤️
I came across channel for the first time and thought your sewing room had some amazing ideas. I would like to share something that changed my life in my craft room. I took one of those garage lights and screwed it into my light socket on my ceiling. Instant whole room Ott light. Because it hangs there my plan is to get a shop light cord to hang it better. Just thought I would share.
Thank you SO much Margaret!! I am so grateful to you for sharing that!! I will ask the husband to help me find one of those! I don’t have great vision and that would be so helpful! Thank you for watching and for your suggestion!! ❤️
Your sewing room might not be as fancy as some that I have seen, but I absolutely love it! We have the exact cutting space, tables together on top of risers! It is so comfortable and
Thank you SO much Deidra! You have made my day. I am so glad to know we have the same sort of cutting space. I think many people have “functional” spaces. Many times we don’t show them because their not “beautiful.” You are so right, we have everything we need and it’s wonderful. Thank you again! ❤️
Your space is well thought out, and placed. Just an idea for a light, if you have a way to hang a light. Harbor Freight has some 4 foot led's They sell them as shop/garage lights. They are very bright..
Thank you SO much Tracey! That is a great suggestion… and my husband loves harbor freight! That would be such a help. Thanks so much for watching and sharing! ❤️
Your room is nice. It reminds me of mine with less sewing machines and ironing stations though. Lol . I just bought the Pfaff performance similar to yours. Thanks for sharing your lovely space. Happy sewing.
Thank you so much! I have more machines than I need. Lol I’m sure you will love the Pfaff. I am grateful you watched and appreciate your comment so much! ❤️
I’m new here and I really got a lot of ideas because I live in an apartment. I really love the cutting table. I am thinking I can do that. Never thought of looking for the shift robe as a storage. I will be looking for one at the thrift stores. The container for the needles-omgoodness is exactly what I have been trying to figure out for my needles. I would love to know what sewing books you have that you love. I am a collector. You had some great ideas. My stuff is all over the place. TFS.
Thank you SO much Carol! I am thrilled that you found some ideas for your space! I really appreciate your watching and letting me know. Can’t wait to hear what you use. I will be happy to share my favorite sewing books very soon. I am so glad you asked! ❤️
I have tried a million different ways… frixon markers and pens are good. They usually can be removed with heat… however some say the marks can reappear when they are exposed to cold. Chalk is a favorite of mine. I have varying degrees of success. I’m sure others have great suggestions. ❤️
I hope 🙏 your vision gets better but I wanted to add that I got a few different strengths of flip up clip on magnifying glasses on Amazon and I use them on my regular progressive lens glasses in order to sew close-up or at my machine because my sight is really bad.
Thank you for the tour of your sewing room! Loved your dress too. I noticed a book in your cabinet entitled The Dressmaker’s Handbook. I couldn’t make out the author and didn’t find any books in my search that looked like the spine. Would you mind sharing the author? Also, do you like the book? Thanks again
Thank you SO much for watching! I’ll be happy to let you know who the author is. I had another person ask about the books. I appreciate your interest and will let you know. ❤️
The Dress maker’s Handbook is by Rene’ Bergh. First published in 1998 by New Holland Publishers. I’ll try to show you some more of it in my next video. ❤️
Thanks for the tour. I love your strawberries and your humor! Some great tips for us sewers. Loved the dress you are wearing. Wondering what state you are in..South Carolina? Enjoy your channel so much!
No wonder I feel so at home watching you. My people came from the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Dixon’s and Tedders. I had an aunt I loved like a mother who died about 5 years ago and that’s the last time I was back. When I get able I’m going back to stay in a bed and breakfast in Glades Valley. My people are from Sparta. Homy little mountain town on top of a mountain!!!!!
No need to throw away your dull pins and needles. Those tomato pin cushions have a little strawberry hanging from the top center of the tomato holds resin used for sharpening them. All you do to sharpen the pin or needle is to push the point of it in and out of that strawberry repeatedly until it is sharp again.
Thank you SO much BJoy! I appreciate your watching! My notions travel….. I try to keep things in the same place and not carry them around but, that doesn’t last long! 🤣 I do make sure and put them back and straighten back up often. ❤️
Thank you SO much Stephanie! The desk was a great find for sure. No, I’ve never sewn professionally…. Well, I did work in a hosiery mill for 13 years. We used thread… but the machine was a huge automatic thing. It didn’t really seem like sewing. Although it did seam 🤣 I’m so glad you liked the Jack n Diann thing. It was my husbands idea. ❤️
If you were recommending a machine for general sewing that has a feed dog that will drop for free motion embroidered work, what would you recommend. Heretofore I have been sewing on vintage machines, mostly 401 singers, but now I have no mechanic and my machine needs replacing.
Honestly, in my opinion the Juki HZL-DX 7 is the best machine I have. I do love the Pfaff 720 but, it was three times the cost and I still do a lot of sewing on the Juki. Definitely ask around some of the other channels and check on the Facebook groups that sew. Let me k ow what you choose. ❤️
I enjoyed the tour of your sewing room. You have organized everything quite well! Btw, I’m trying to identify your accent. What general area are you from?
Hi Gaye! I started to show those. I made them from resin and the only mold I had was a silicone muffin form. I used dried flowers from my dear father in laws service. I had never made any before and could do better now. I will show them on another video soon. Thank you SO much for watching! ❤️

Thank you SO much! I think I am a practical person in most every way. I guess as long as I can use and repurpose things… it makes me happy. A space doesn’t have to be big to be enjoyed. Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️
I just found your channel. I enjoyed the tour of your sewing room. You have a nice sewing space.
John
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Hope you have a great week. ❤️
Thanks for the tour.. I like your room. Thinking about adopting your idea of that water bottle with the spout.
Thank you for watching! I do love the spout for my iron. It makes life easier. Hope you have a great week! 💜 Diann
The second way you said Pfaff is correct. I love the old wood desk.
Thank you SO much Elaine! Now to remember to say it that way going forward! 🤣 Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
I subscribed immediately once you said 'Hopefully you won't be offended by my junk' 😂😆 I'm going to start saying that every time I let someone into my apartment that's a gas! Thank you 🙏
🤣 I think you are my kinda people! Thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing! 💜
OMGoodness you are such an inspiration to me I saw this video and it gave me hope to keep on with my channel I just started ,and my room is cluttered but nice like yours and I sew but I learned on nybiwn and looking for how to stich orderly. Thanks for sharing.I will keep on keeping on.God Bless
What a blessing you are Sofia! Thank you SO much for your kindness! Yes, never stop… I will go subscribe to your channel now! God bless you. ❤️
Thank You. Much
I loved this!
You are SO kind! Thank you SO much for watching and commenting ❤️
Thank you for the room tour. The thrift store desk is fabulous. I use a folding table to cut fabric on in my living room when I sew and love the riser idea; I have a bad back. Thanks again for the ideas and the video. Have a nice day.
Thank you SO much Rose! The risers have helped me so much. My back gets tired from bending too long. I appreciate you watching and commenting! ❤️
Hello
I really enjoyed your video.
@@mageshnaidoo722 Thank you SO much!! I appreciate your watching! ♥️
Thank you so much❤️
Great tour!
Thank you SO much! I appreciate your watching and commenting! ❤️
I love my little space and like you
only managed a spot for myself when my daughter moved out, we are so lucky to have our own spaces and I appreciate mine everyday! Enjoy your week!
Thank you Dee! I appreciate your comment so much. I have never had a lot of money to put into sewing. I love keeping things out of the trash… and they work well for what I need. I’m so glad we have our spaces! ❤️
I enjoyed this tour so much. Thank you for sharing your room. I’m trying to organize mine and might have to take a trip to Harbor Freight 😂
Thank you so much! I do love harbor freight. Thanks for watching!
Thank you SO much Michelle! You are so kind. I enjoy those pattern weights so much. I am happy you got a kick out of Jack n Diann 🤣❤️
Karen
Thank you SO much Karen! I am so glad you watched and enjoyed seeing my little room. Thanks for subscribing! See you soon! ❤️
Wow, such a well laid out and efficient work space! Thanks for sharing! I will copy a few....
Thank you SO much Josephine! I hope you will find some inspiration! ❤️
Thanks for showing us your sewing room. You've got a very nice space there.
Thank you SO much! You are SO kind! I almost moved the clutter away and hid all the cords… but, this is how it looks! I am thankful to have it.
@@DebsWay You are the funny one! Mine is usually messy with patterns and scraps laying about! I think we creative people have too be messy! It feeds our creativity! That’s what we will say 😂❤️
Really pretty dress. I really love your sewing room.
Thank you SO much! ❤️
Love your sewing room tour thank you x
Thank you SO much Julia! I appreciate you watching!
Thank you SO much! You are so kind. I can’t wait to hear what you come up with! Organizing the stuff is almost as fun as sewing!! ❤️
@@Silver_Threads_Sewing Your very welcome x
That was heartfelt and meaningful. Thank you for sharing your room and your treasures! I love your dress and would like to make one as well.
Thank you SO much Mary! You are so kind. I appreciate your watching. I hope you make the dress … I really like it a lot! ❤️
Really enjoyed the tour its always interesting to see how we use the sewing room thank you
Thank you SO much Robyn. I love a sewing room visit too!! It’s like visiting with friends!
You are very welcome. The light is a led garage light. You will love it.
Love the tour of your sewing room
Thank you SO much! You are very kind! ❤️
Your sewing room might not be as fancy as some that I have seen, but I absolutely love it! We have the exact cutting space, tables together on top of risers! It is so comfortable and
So comfortable and neat and contains everything that you need!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you SO much Deidra! You have made my day. I am so glad to know we have the same sort of cutting space. I think many people have “functional” spaces. Many times we don’t show them because their not “beautiful.” You are so right, we have everything we need and it’s wonderful. Thank you again! ❤️
Love this room u are so lucky. I would love a sewing room. Kitchen table for me lol
Thank you SO much! I am so very fortunate! You’ll get one eventually… just keep sewing and one day a space will present itself!
Lol
I’m sure you will love the Pfaff. I am grateful you watched and appreciate your comment so much! ❤️
Thank you
I appreciate your watching and commenting! ❤️
Love your room, it is so organised, loved the painted rocks, cheap practical and pretty , thankyou for sharing, new subscriber here x
Thank you SO much Cath! I appreciate your watching and commenting!
Also, very interested in how everyone makes their markings on material.😊😊
I have tried a million different ways… frixon markers and pens are good. They usually can be removed with heat… however some say the marks can reappear when they are exposed to cold. Chalk is a favorite of mine. I have varying degrees of success. I’m sure others have great suggestions. ❤️
I hope 🙏 your vision gets better but I wanted to add that I got a few different strengths of flip up clip on magnifying glasses on Amazon and I use them on my regular progressive lens glasses in order to sew close-up or at my machine because my sight is really bad.
Thank you SO much for that suggestion!!! I will check it out! I appreciate your watching and the suggestion. Have a great weekend! 💜
Thank you SO much Diana. I always tell my family I am hilarious 😂
I am in the mountains of North Carolina. My accent gives me away! ❤️
Thank you SO much Shelly! That’s great to know. Thank You for watching and for sharing ❤️
Thanks so much for your hospitality! You have so many great ideas! Do your notions “travel” or do you do well keeping them in each zone?
Thank you SO much BJoy! I appreciate your watching! My notions travel….. I try to keep things in the same place and not carry them around but, that doesn’t last long! 🤣 I do make sure and put them back and straighten back up often. ❤️
I love this, your desk is so cool. Btw I Love Jack and Diane. Did you ever sew professionally? Or just for leisure?😊
Thank you SO much Stephanie! The desk was a great find for sure. No, I’ve never sewn professionally…. Well, I did work in a hosiery mill for 13 years. We used thread… but the machine was a huge automatic thing. It didn’t really seem like sewing. Although it did seam 🤣
I’m so glad you liked the Jack n Diann thing.
Honestly, in my opinion the
Juki HZL-DX 7 is the best machine I have. I do love the Pfaff 720 but, it was three times the cost and I still do a lot of sewing on the Juki. Definitely ask around some of the other channels and check on the Facebook groups that sew. Let me k ow what you choose. ❤️
Love your space. Do you know the size of your room?
Thank you SO much Jane. My room is 13x15 my husband said. 😊 It was I tended to be a bedroom. ❤️
I enjoyed the tour of your sewing room. You have organized everything quite well! Btw, I’m trying to identify your accent. What general area are you from?
Thank you SO much Linda! I’m so happy you enjoyed my little room! I am in the Western North Carolina mountains. ❤️😊
I'm curious about the weights that aren't river rocks. It looks like you made them in muffin cups.
Hi Gaye! I started to show those. I made them from resin and the only mold I had was a silicone muffin form. I used dried flowers from my dear father in laws service. I had never made any before and could do better now. I will show them on another video soon. Thank you SO much for watching! ❤️
Where can I find those magic pins? I have been looking for some.
If your in the US Joann fabrics have them or Hobby Lobby also has them. Amazon has them and I imagine you can get them anywhere. ❤️
@@Silver_Threads_Sewing Thank you so much. I loved your video. Lots of grest ideas for a small budget like mine.
Crayola markers do not bleed through to your pattern?
Thank you SO much ❤️
Great video. I hope you can get help for your eyes.
Thank you SO much Kate! I hope so too! It’s amazing how fast it’s happened. I am praying they won’t get worse. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! ❤️
pfaff as in ........FOFF ....foff or like cough, pfoff, Pfaff, faughf, (not pfaff like laugh or calf or giraff)
Thank you SO much Linda! I’m glad to know. Great explanation! ❤️
