My First Time Reaction to Black Clover Anime Openings THIS WAS INSANE! We have been going down the Anime opening rabbit hole exploring all different soundtracks from all different animes as someone who knows nothing about the world of anime music and THIS ONE WAS AWESOME! Black Clover is nuts. It's a really fun and epic anime, but it never gets too adult. There are a lot of dark stories and dark themed topics tho. I would recommend to give it a try, and decide by yourself if it's too happy/comic for you or not.
Anyway, I see some people talking about Psycho-Pass. That's for sure a must-watch, both openings and anime.
When it comes to Black clover i highly Recommend the manga its insanely good for me.(The thing with the anime is Astas voice is something that takes some time getting used to)And he is the main character so he is Preety much in every episode.

In my opinion Black Clover is the most genuine anime I have ever watched. The amount of love poured into those characters shines through the screen. No other anime has made me feel that way about their characters as much as this one. It has many good things but the relationship between characters is impeccable

The first 4 episodes are gonna be a little rough mainly because of the main protagonist weird yelling but after that the show tones down oh his yelling and it gets better and better going forward

When I first started Black Clover, I literally stopped after 10 episodes because of the annoying yelling. Years later I found out the yelling toned down after episode 10. Binged the whole rest of the show after that. I had years of episodes to binge. It was great

The page numbers are because the anime focuses around grimoires, which are spell books. When you learn a new spell, a new page becomes available. So calling the episodes pages pays homage to that.
Black clover is one of the few anime's where I never skip the openings
Edit: Black clover was originally a manga, but the series is about magic knights(wizards basically) who draw their powerful spells from grimoire or spell books. Thematically the "Page Number" is just the episode number but since it's a series that's heavily revolved around drawing power from books, page number instead of episode.
Fun fact: the opening at 23:20 (Opening 12 Everlasting Shine) is sung by a kpop boy group called Tomorrow by Together (TXT)
Anime uses heavy symbolism in their openings and endings (not always though). Changing the Opening usually means a new chapter is starting (or as we say a new arc) and they tend to show scenes that might never happen in the anime itself but symbolizes and sometimes summarize the events of the said arc. Most of the time an opening can be considered major spoiler though unknowing viewer wont know theyve been spoiled until they watch the show

Black clover, while being kinda goofy at times is extremely amazing. The fight scenes and team building are top notch, love this anime
For me it resembles post 2010 naruto vibes but better character development
I couldn't get into it. It just felt like it wanted to be Naruto Neo, and tbh we need to remove naruto from the big 3. JoJo is right there folks. Still love naruto, it introduced me to anime, but I just prefer animes that follow a different style

Regarding the changing openings, part of it is as you said to set the tone for that new season. The other part is that it is also there to promote the artists that are doing the songs, as part of the funding for a lot of shows comes from record labels pushing their artists

These openings always, ALWAYS get me hyped. I started this series when it came out purely because I was bored, but it really hooked me.

I like that you finally switch to OP version (not full one), you get context a lot better there. And about some of your questions:
1) Opening usually made to hit specific theme and in specific time, this is why they usually make more, than one. But there is also exceptions in both ways
2) Some openings are very spoiler'ish (contain a lot of content and plot that will happen in this season), the others are not. The way that you didn't get plot might be intentional, you will get after you start watching and watching opening in context of actions and story.
3) "What pages about?" - Some anime have unique way to call an episode, in Black Clover it books pages, page 20 - mean episode 20. There are a lot of anime that call an episode by a different name

I got goosebumps watching this video. Reliving Black Clover was amazing, one of my favorite anime of all time
the Japanese are a very emotive and expressive people so they take the opportunity to frame each new season of most anime with new music which as you said, sets the tone and the mood and revitalizes the show.
It is pretty cool tbh and is how I now have a collection of amazing japanese songs that I otherwise would not have been exposed to. Western shows just don't care as much about that and the effort and cost must be off-putting.
Its usually Arc based not season based, From my experience they change the Song and the art to match the current or nexr arc depending on the time of the opening starting, but I agree over here in the West we are kind of lacking in that department, Sometimes the Opening helps tell the story and I feel like a lot of shows in the west are missing out on that
I also agree with your points of it helps set the tone, mood and it can help revitalize a show, A good example of an anime that didnt need to change openings but it did and it worked is Tokyo Ghoul, Unravel is such a good OP but the others are too and they help set the mood and tone of the later seasons

cant get over the art quality in the openings of Black Clover
Op 2 is my favorite with the English sprinkled in and the *BLACK CLOVER!* but the *when you break me down* hits so well too
Dark, action, epic - I recommend opening AND ending of Overlord, they are on season 4 now so 8 songs/videos total! Definitely don't miss out on the endings
Almost all anime are originally based on a manga or light novel, so that doesn't have anything to do with the page #'s. The "page" numbers are the episode number, but they are stylized as pages in reference to the series' use of grimoires, or books for their magic. So each episode is a new page in the book that is Black Clover. Basically just a metaphor.
Haruka Mirai will always be an iconic song. Surpass your limits. It will put tears in you once you watch the anime.

Black clover definitely provides the epic feel you describe. It shares lots of characteristics with other shonens but I find myself rewatching BC fights every day (which used to be hxh and mha)

It sucks that the very last one got copyrighted, it is considered one of the best of all the Black Clover openings.

A word of caution, the first few episodes can feel slightly generic and bland, I still enjoyed it btwm but if you stick with it till the dungeon arc...I promise the pay off is huge. The only reason This show has an 8 on my animelist in my opinion is because a minority watched the first few episodes, gave it a low score and dropped it. No other show has consistently topped the arc it precedes and the story takes some really epic twists.
dont worry about it being generic, he is still starting anyway but it does get better each arc

@Nightmare Hour What defined as generic if there is a lot of the same thing/story formula exists before it. So by definition, older shows won't be generic or AS generic as they would still have fresher stuff.
Black Clover is too good. An underdog MC and most badass captain and talent pouring rivals amd The Goosebumps moments... It parred naruto.
Id say poorly structured the manga edition is actually quite alright.

Page number is the episode. In the anime to use your magic you need a Grimoire (fancy magic book) so the page numbers just refers to that.

The page numbers are what episode the OP first starts playing, and yes it was originally a manga, but I don't think it correlates to that

The series itself is really interesting. It takes place in the 22nd century in Japan where it is possible to instantaneously measure a person's propensity towards criminality using a cymatic scanner. People can be considered as 'Latent Criminal' if their 'Crime Coefficient' is too high, even if they haven't committed a crime yet.
Some interesting things from this anime:

Pages are basically episodes, they call them pages because its themed from the middle age, for example the first one was Page 2, so its episode 2
Love these reactions, would highly recommend checking out Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood openings! They're up there with Attack on Titan for sure and it's my personal favourite anime.
Not every black clover opening is my favorite. But all of them are bangers.
There are many opening songs because the opening is a part of actual arc in the show + the music majors are part of the production comitee and they sell CD of the singles
the main 2 people you see on the op's who are either fist bumping or standing side by side, are both orphans from the same place in that universe, however they consider them selves rivals. it is worth a watch if you feel like it.

Anime intros are a massive thing in Japan it can be the highlight of some bands career and what makes them. Like FLOW for example who have done Dragon Ball, Naruto and others and they make sure to make every opening feel like a music video

I don't know if you've gotten around to watching the series or if anyone pointed it out but the idea of the "page numbers" was that was the episode number. I think the theme was just based on the page number of a book in reflection of the episode number.
Some Anime have multiple different opening in the same season! and something it for the mood... but I feel its more about the story arcs.. so like each arc as its own music type thing

The pages you see in the openings refer to the episode they appear in! So page 77 for example means it appears on episode 77, but you guessed in right when you said Black clover is based on a manga, that’s the original source material and the creator is Yuki Tabata!
It's also because it's based on the idea of pages in a spellbook/grimoire
I got goosebumps while watching this whole video
Gonna explain a bit the page numbers, since it doesn't look like anyone did yet, and it's a nice little touch, that will cover the backgroud of the plot: it's a world where everyone has magic, in some capacity, the nobility is nobility because they have the most magic power. To use that magic, you need to have a grimoire, that you don't choose, the grimoire itself chooses you, since it's almost a living thing. Most of the grimoires have 3 clover leaves on the cover, some have 4, and are weilded by people destined to great things, but there's a rumor that in the 5th leaf sleeps a demon...
Anyway, the "pages" you see are the episodes, they used "page" instead of episodes because it make sense with the grimoire-centric world the mangaka built.
Alse, for great openings I suggest Fairy Tail. You can say whatever you want about the anime and its supposed "too much fan service", but the openings are awesome.
