- Hi Guys!
Yesterday I came home from work to find the print that Calvin had started in the morning had actually failed about 2 hours in due to a hard clog in the nozzle throat.
So in this video I attempt to clear the clog. Did it work? You will see soon.
Thank you very much for watching!!!

For the record, the retraction was 1.25 mm so very minor! The roll had some brittle spots so that is my bet...
That's what I figure too.
Thanks! You helped me resolve my first clogged nozzle throat on my X1.
Thanks for the upload from the land down under. 🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀🤓
Joel Telling had trouble with clogging and has a fix that worked out for him.

I started all of a sudden having this problem on all my prints with my Genius. Filament just stopped coming through anywhere from 10% to 50% of the job during EVERY print, and in prints that had worked fine many times before. Typically the printer was continuing, "printing" in thin air with no filament coming out. I found that I could often get the filament to start flowing again by pushing the filament through from the top by hand (although the print was already ruined).
So far this sounds like the situation I´ve seen in many videos on RUclips, but wait...
1. I´m using an all metal heatbreak, so no PTFE anywhere down where the filament is molten, and I changed the heatbreak and the nozzle several times. Also, this happens with 0.4mm and 0.6mm nozzles. I´ve also done several cold pulls, even with nylon.
2. Whenever this happened the extruder gear was just wearing away the filament as it turned in one place until I stopped it (that´s where all that ash-like dust comes from). I tried adjusting the spring tension on the extruder gear, but teeth marks on the filament could be very deep or hardly visible and it didn't make any difference.
3. I used filaments I had successfully used before (all PLA), even new ones still in their sealed plastic bags.
4. I reduced the retraction from 5mm to 2mm.
5. Of course, each time I checked that the filament spool was spinning freely.
So, anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Limits yuor retractions number/distance, too much retractions are gone clog the nozzle..so print a test(there many in thingiverse.com) several retraction test to find yuor better retract speed/distance
@@noway8233 Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that.
I got the same situation. Thanks for the tips!
The PTFE tubes are just terrible. I had my genius for 2 months and it clogged twice already... (the genius even has the bigger ptfe tube to avoid these problems lol)
3 years? Oh dear. The filament was probably very moist, and bubbled and crackled inside the nozzle... would be my guess.
Thanks! Mine just clogged too.
Good luck
Really helpful thanks thanks for sharing.
Thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks for this video.
