You might wanna wear hearing protection while working in the same room as the chiller. Those rotary screws are crazy loud.

    Hi
I wanted to tell you about whats happening with a York screw chiller. I can send you a pdf of the name plate but it's YCRS0140SC460YAADB. Whats happening is the demand stays level for the morning, but suddenly starts rising and falling. So its level at about 28 to 30 KW then rises pretty fast to 41+ KW. Then falls (at about the same speed) back to 28 KW. I'd like to send you some graphs from the metering so you can see. I asked the mechanic and he said its normal. I asked an old York guy and he said it's not normal at all. Thanks Bill Hendrix

Carrier 06T series compressors on XWV/XAV series VFD chillers combine both slide valve and VFD together, about the first half is controlled by the slide valve, and the last half is controlled by VFD

Is there possible to control screw chillers load by 1 percent instead of 25 percent?

Slide valve is to control compression ratio, means only change the discharge pressure the capacity remains same, correct me if I am wrong

The capacity is being adjusted by the slide valve. This is how we can make a 50 ton compressor operate at 30 tons to match load.

Could be a valve or oil pressure issue

I had a question you said loading depends on supply water temperature.
What if the delta T increases shouldn't that also increase the loading percentage. As we are getting warmer water back from the building.

For standard equipment the chiller really only cares about leaving water temperature. While we monitor entering water temp it is not an active part of the control sequence. There may be unique exceptions out there but that is not the standard.

Good afternoon sir, I have a question. Do you have an institute of training? If is there. l want to attend regular classes in your country. Do you send me invitation letter or admission letter. I will pay your institute fee. I want training about YK york centrifugal chiller overhauling teardown training. Kindly send me details about admission details.

Only experience with these is watching an HVAC tech bang his head against 4 of 'em because the electricians swapped the building feed breaker but didn't mesure rotation first and no one knew which direction the compressor took. Had to tear into it and remove the motor coupling and bumbstart to test. Added an hour and a half to a 30min restart 😑
