  • Sarah Joy Brown returns! She and Maurice reminisce about working together and the storylines they shared when Sarah admits that she's recently been watching scenes from when she played Carly on General Hospital. I adore Laura Wright and have watched her since Loving, but Sarah's Carly was something special. Her portrayal and creation of Carly changed the show. Between her storyline with Bobbie and Tony, then with Jason and Sonny, she just caught everyone's attention. Her talent was immediately obvious.

Thank you to Sarah Brown. She is one terrific actress. She was a wonderful Carly. I'm so sorry this horrible act happened to her. Until we make this a crime, nothing will change. Some of these cops and DA's offices are so hardened, they don't care. Sarah, I pray you will find the right person to talk to that care and can help you heal a bit. Sending you so many hugs with understanding & love. ❤

My heart goes out to Sarah. My son was Rufied years ago in NYC. His partner if 22 yrs. Had passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He had just flown home from LA and seeing his step daughters. Didn’t want to go home to empty apartment so stopped at a bar he wasn’t familiar with to have a drink. Went to bathroom . When he returned he took a drink of his drink and blacked out. No memory. Work up next afternoon naked in his apartment. His money was stolen . Suffering from being violated. Had to go to Police to report. Then hospital. Battery of tests and a series of shots in case of any disease or HIV. Nothing ever came of police report. Scared him for a long time. We worry about our daughters but don’t think about rape happening to our sons. It’s devastating. The ones this happens to need to be taken seriously and helped. This is unacceptable!!
Thank you for sharing your story Sarah. I am so sorry that happened to you. I admire you and your courage ♥️

I hardly have the words for how listening to Sarah's experience makes me feel. I am so upset that anyone has experienced this kind of pain and trauma. It's one of my worst nightmares. And to then be treated so disrespectfully by law officers - ones who are supposed to help protect us! Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. And upon hearing that the bar didn't call back until footage was deleted makes me think there's more going on there too. Absolutely horrific. I am sending so much love to Sarah and others who have been violated in such a way, and so many wishes for continued healing and strength. Thank you for sharing. As a hyper-vigilant person I still feel I was helped in hearing this and will share with others. Thank you Sarah, thank you Maurice.💚

I just saw this interview with Sarah Joy Brown the original Carly and it was good to see her. I miss her on GH. I am a New Yorker and am so sorry about what happened to her in Brooklyn. I used to work at the Bronx District Attorney's Office and I remember one time we were having an office office party and I didn't think anything of it after all it was the DA's office and I briefly walked away from my soda (I don't drink) and I remember when I came back to my drink my supervisor took it from my hand and threw it out and told me never go back to a drink you left unattended no matter where you are at or who gave it to you. I was surprised by her reaction at the time but to this day I will never forget it. Now when I think about it, I am grateful and I always abide by this rule. I hope Sarah is doing well and wish her all the best.

What I loved about Sarah's portrayal of Carly was that she wasn't played as the typical cartoonish soap villain. She wasn't just "bad" she had motivations and nuance. Precious Sarah, Thank you so much for your courage. I was "acquaintance" raped when I was 19. When it was over and he left, I showered in as hot as my body could take water, dried off and it was gone. I had no memory of it until 36 years later when it ALL came flooding back. It was mentally excruciating. I had a dear friend who took me to report it even though there was nothing that could be done at that point. I did and almost didn't because I didn't want to be a "statistic." Another friend told me to tell what happened as many times as I needed until it no longer had power over me. I did that countless times. Looking at your tender face, hearing your voice, all I wanted to do was wrap my arms around you. Afterwards, I thought how PROUD your daughter is of you and what an act of unconditional love it is for you to tell your truth. Much gratitude for you and all the lives you have and will touch in such a profoundly deep way.

Thank You! Sarah, thank you so much for telling your story. I felt every bit of your pain, but you are strong and you proved it by not accepting this and sticking up for yourself and going to the police. Regardless of how the police handled it, you knew this was not acceptable, and you knew this could not happen again to anyone. You should be proud of yourself. You are a survivor and that guy messed with the wrong person. You have made a difference already by spreading awareness. My twin daughters just left for their first year of college. First time separated and living in two different cities. I texted both of them after listening to this episode and told them about your story, how this is becoming a common occurrence and that they have to be careful. I am so sorry this happened to you. You're alive because you are meant to speak out about this horrible epidemic. I can't wait for your APP to publish. And to Maurice for providing the platform and the environment that Sarah needed to speak while at the same time helping her healing process. Maurice, this show is needed on so many levels. Sarah, thank you so much for your incredible bravery, sharing this painful story so other women can be helped. I am not a crier, but I cried some tears for you just now. I wanted to mother you, hug you and say "Oh Honey, I'm so sorry this happened to you, you did not deserve it!" much the way I consoled my then 4-year-old little girl who had just disclosed what her father was doing to her. And it is no joke how hard the system makes reporting this, and then keeping the perpetrator away! OMG. Not to mention I went through something when I was in my very early teens, and I reported it and then the police told the perpetrator who reported him when it was supposed to be confidential at that point! I could share so many things, but I just want Sarah to know I hold her in my heart and wish the best life for her full of happiness and joy!

OMG, the same thing happened to me and I have the same Issues. I have to have Noise and Some form of light.
I had to go through the whole Sexual Assault Exam and Tests. My Rape Kit was filled under a Pseudo Name (Fàke Name) which came in handy later because I ended up pregnant and had medical problems that caused issues. I wasn't in a "Good Head Space" mentally for a long time, my Doctor's put me on several medications for Anxiety, PTSD and I suffered from Nightmares on a Every Night. After finding out I was pregnant my doctor met with my parents who were making all my Health Issues and Treatments. He informed them that due to the Health Problems I had which I was born with, it would be too Dangerous for it to progress. So they all agreed that it would be better to terminate. So, they took me to the place where it was done and apparently I was registered with my Police Report and they used my Pseudo Name on everything. My parents made all the decisions and afterwards took me to my Grandparents Lake House because nobody was there for me to rest and heal physically. Mentally I ended up in a Mental Health facility for almost a month to learn to not necessarily "Deal with it" but to "Live with it". I still have some residual issues from it. I have a problem with relationships. I Don't/Can't Trust Any Man other than my Daddy and Last Stepdad.
I tried being married and had a daughter. I got divorced in 2000, and tried 1 more time 2 years later which lasted for a year and it ended in 2004. I have been Single ever since.

We have to do better as a society about taking care of our children and the women of our nation too much is allowed to happen to them and it goes unpunished or the just overlook it. Oh Sarah, I’m so sorry you had such a horrible thing done to you. You didn’t deserve that and you did nothing wrong. I appreciate you sharing your story because I believe it will prevent the same thing from happening to others. There are monsters out there and their day will come, I have to believe that. You are an incredibly talented person, and I will always be in your corner. You are never alone! Thank you Mauricio for having Sarah on SOM so she could share her horrific experience and help save others from the same pain. 🥰

It was difficult to hear Sara speak on the most brutal act that can happen to females, and the law wouldn't help you and make you think it's your fault. Great story today, Mr Bernard and Sara Brown. Miss you on GH.

I’ve told this story before but my best friend was SO impressed by her character on As The World Turns and talked about her storyline as Julia Larabee to the point I looked her up and agreed she was an amazing actress, really was blown away. And then I heard she was coming back as Claudia to GH and I was intrigued by the story and her as an actress. I grew up on CBS soaps and Sarah returning to GH is what brought me to the show- in huge part that she was just that good of an actress I wanted to see her in more stuff. I also saw her on an episode of Monk and just kept thinking “why is she not super famous?”

Sarah, thank you for sharing this with us. I know you don’t remember everything that happened, but I so appreciate the fact that you were your own advocate. You followed up on everything, even though law enforcement made some horrible mistakes with your case. You may have felt powerless with what happened to you, but you got your power back by doing everything, going to a doctor, going to the police, and now sharing your story with thousands of people. Not only that, you are showing others how to maybe prevent these this from happening to them. As someone already said, there is power in numbers.

What an enlightening story. I am so sorry to hear that Sarah's mental health suffered. This story has been a testimony that women needs to hear about and take seriously. This story lets you know that it could happen to any young girl, women at any time. Maurice thank you for using your show as a platform where people can share their stories.Sarah thank you for sharing your story. This show is amazing! ❤

OMG, Sarah you are lucky to be alive. How utterly courageous of you to share this - esp to alert others to this horrific criminal activity.
May God continue to bless & keep you. Just SMH, it is so horrible & then the system's response is egregious!
Thanks for having her back, Maurice - sorry it's for this, yet the psychological & mental aspects of being sexually assaulted (I was as a child molested for many years by my uncle) are life long
& even when you do the work (& heal) there are 'triggering' elements that can/do hold you hostage.
As, Sarah states telling/reporting can also be harmful/harming. In my case, I told & was not believed or helped even though this person was doing it to others in the family.
I went on to live my life, yet for a long time it was hard because it seemingly didn't matter & I just thought, by virtue that
    I didn't matter.
My heart breaks for what happened 💔
    🌹

Oh Sarah, I’m so sorry 😢 I’m from NY, husbands from Brooklyn, and have watched GH for years. One thing I would stress to all women and something I’m teaching my young daughter- do not go out alone. Go in a group-watch each other’s backs, always have one designated driver, and never accept a drink from anyone you don’t know - guy or girl. The statistics on women who have been sexually abused, assaulted, and/or raped are too high to not look out for each other. More of us need to speak up. Thank you for being a voice for those who aren’t ready or aren’t able to speak ❤

I agree 90's GH was magical. I couldn't wait to get out of school and watch GH. 😂It amazes me we see these beautiful actors and actresses and never know the pain they experience in their personal lives. I lost a child and almost lost my mind. My God you are a strong woman. Sorry for your loss!Terrific interview!

On the lighter side, I have never forgiven Carly for dumping AJ in the cart and turning him back to an alcoholic and Sonny putting him on the meat hook. I don't hold grudges. LOL.

I so agree that's why women don't come forward because they get treated like they did it it was their fault. Didn't they want to know what you were wearing how much did you have to drink did you lead him on. If ever to say that it was your fault for being violated. that is so horrible😢😭
