This interview was so great On so many levels. -I was watching Tabitha Brown yesterday, and she said that we are in a time where "We are losing respect, for Human Kind". More and More people are not humans, they are images.
I love Chad Duell. He's such a great actor and seems like an awesome, caring person. For myself, Chad has made Michael the character he is today which I love to see how he's developed as his own man. So, when they recast Duell with this other guy(who I'm sure is a great actor), he's not Michael. Every time I'd see him I'd find myself saying, "Who's this guy"? I wait to see Sonny and Michael back to loving each and not fighting. Great acting from both you guys!
I also recently experienced some serious health issues, as well as dealing with a break up. Chad is exactly right. Self care and taking advantage of being given a second chance is vital in those situations. 💛

Wow! That was scary what Chad went through with his heart. My husband just had open heart surgery 6 weeks ago and then caught Covid 3 days after he left the hospital! Then I caught it from him! Thankfully the symptoms didn't land us in the hospital- were mainly mild. But was really worried about him due to just having major surgery. So far so good though for both of us. Paxlovid helped me get over it in a week! I sure hope we don't get anything like that from Covid!!! Wishing him the best and a full recovery. (Take plenty of vitamins and try gluten free. It makes a huge difference in attaining better health.) Always enjoy your podcasts Maurice. I feel like we all friends since I've watched this and GH for so long. Wishing you the best too. Admittedly, I’m late to the party finding this but I have watched how your characters have evolved through the years, two of my favorites I might add. The bond you have with each other comes through. It’s a beautiful thing.
I think there is a blatant disregard for respect in general today, regardless of what anyone does for a living. We live in a "say whatever you want, do whatever you want" mentality today with no thought to how what you say or do impacts another person. I have seen this going on in all different age brackets. Because people have a great tendency to walk around completely unconscious. They lead with their ego. And I think this is also learned behavior. No one comes into the world this way. We are TAUGHT by who and what has the most influence on us. If we're really paying attention, we get to a point in our lives where we begin to rethink the negativity. Our parents are the first real, tangible influences in our lives. Sometimes what we learn from them is beneficial and some of it isn't. I don't think we do the deep dive into all that until we have had enough life experiences. Great interview! 💌🕉

Chad. You did the right thing leaving the hospital. I was in a rehab with brain injury patients and I didn't have a brain injury. I couldn't sleep and started hallucinating. My friend told me to get the hell out of there, which I did. It made all the difference in the world. I wish you all the best and a complete healing and recovery.
I have loved Chad's character from day one he really made Michael his own in the beginning I mean those scenes in the courtroom and in prison amazing!!! All the stuff he did with you, Laura, and Steve Burton 💯

I especially noticed what he was saying about taking the time to sit alone with yourself with no constant distractions to feel & understand what you're going through & reflect on what you want to change in becoming the kind of person you want to be. It's definitely a challenge because of how painful this can be & the way the world is increasingly with distractions galore.

Brenda - I was just telling my parents that I, as a Gen X, am the last generation to be watching these. “Days” went off of network TV & that leaves three. I don’t know of any millennial watching soaps. I’ve asked around nobody! Maybe if they have a friend playing on one? We may actually see the ending of all soaps. Huge bummer! Also, I agree completely with what you said about the two characters. It’ll probably get worse before it gets better & they’re playing it up good. Can’t wait for them to be a family again. He needs to except Sonny’s choice & move on. This is the side of Michael I don’t like, which also proves how well he can act.
The lack of respect is every where. It's a generation of entitlement, instead of integrity, humility, and decency. We see it every where, every day, on the news, on social media. It's very worrisome. These younger people didn't have their a** beat like I did if I talked back to my parents. We were taught to respect our elders, and keep our mouths shut, unless spoken to. That is long gone in today's society. And hello. I stumbled across your channel yesterday by sheer accident. I've watched GH off and on for probably 30 years. I've been watching G.H. for 43 yrs. I just love you all. A few times when I was unable for some reason to watch the show for a week or two I would actually miss you all. lol. Agree!! We need to see more of it! Loved how they were best friends first and there for each other before it ever turned romantic, I thought how Chad talked about not letting people know when he was sick resonated as I hate that Willow is keeping it from Michael. It is realistic to just wish things were “ok” and pretend they are to yourself sometimes.

I'm an older man and I have to say is in this interview, you both brought raw content that a lot of men need to see. As a person who is dealing with his own mental health, I am thankful to listen and learn from someone else, the struggles and the process to becoming the best person you can be. Loved the interview as always great stuff Maurice, but so needed. Chad is amazing as Michael and he’s why I came back to the show. Michael and Willow’s story was so good, so different. It so wasn’t the same with Robert in the scenes and was hard to miss Chad is recent Michael scenes- but hearing how seriously ill he was changes things. Chad being in the hospital with myocarditis sounds incredibly scary and it’s sad to think those who called for him to be replaced never considered the real person affected, no wonder he’s not on social media as much. Chad’s openness about how that health scare and his breakup changed his mentality was so good and so needed for others to hear. Be present in your relationships, coasting and checking out (video games, etc) are signs that there’s something wrong, the routine is comfortable, but if you’re not growing it’s not good. Chad seems very grounded, but he’s just as susceptible to it as others. Both he and Courtney seem to be on that long journey to accepting themselves, she’s posted similar things, but hope they both can find joy and happiness again. It’s scary to be alone. I hope he can travel again soon. Thanks Maurice for holding space for these kind of conversations, so much good stufff in here, keep them up! So glad Chad is back and the upcoming scenes sound incredible- the show needs to treat the late 20’s to 30 year olds as adults, not as children, Michael is a father himself now- so while this is painful to see it should be amazing once the story unfolds!! ❤
A growth mindset will serve you well in life and that is what you are describing vs a fixed mindset (when someone feels they have nothing more to learn, it can come across as arrogant). When I started in my career I also learned everything I could from the people who were more experienced. I couldn't get enough. That is how I eventually (30 years later) became a master too. Maurice thank you for this channel. My best friend died a year ago from suicide and she was bi polar. I learned so much from you over the past year, especially in your interviews with Kirstin and Leslie. Thank you. Love you both. Chad you are an amazing young man, and you are prioritizing yourself and your wellbeing. That is the very definition of a growth mindset attitude.

Chad. You did the right thing leaving the hospital. I was in a rehab with brain injury patients and I didn't have a brain injury. I couldn't sleep and started hallucinating. My friend told me to get the hell out of there, which I did. It made all the difference in the world. I wish you all the best and a complete healing and recovery.

Great interview. I especially noticed what he was saying about taking the time to sit alone with yourself with no constant distractions to feel & understand what you're going through & reflect on what you want to change in becoming the kind of person you want to be. It's definitely a challenge because of how painful this can be & the way the world is increasingly with distractions galore.

I’m a 3rd generation fan! My Mom and Grandmother watched GH from the start. I’ve been watching since I was a kid.
Brenda - I was just telling my parents that I, as a Gen X, am the last generation to be watching these. “Days” went off of network TV & that leaves three. I don’t know of any millennial watching soaps. I’ve asked around nobody! Maybe if they have a friend playing on one? We may actually see the ending of all soaps. Huge bummer! Also, I agree completely with what you said about the two characters. It’ll probably get worse before it gets better & they’re playing it up good. Can’t wait for them to be a family again. He needs to except Sonny’s choice & move on. This is the side of Michael I don’t like, which also proves how well he can act.

Incredible actors
The lack of respect is every where. It's a generation of entitlement, instead of integrity, humility, and decency. We see it every where, every day, on the news, on social media. It's very worrisome. These younger people didn't have their a** beat like I did if I talked back to my parents. We were taught to respect our elders, and keep our mouths shut, unless spoken to.
That is long gone in today's society.
And hello. I stumbled across your channel yesterday by sheer accident. I've watched GH off and on for probably 30 years. Still shocked about Billy, and now Tyler. These guys were my age. It's heart breaking.

I've been watching G.H. for 43 yrs. I just love you all. A few times when I was unable for some reason to watch the show for a week or two I would actually miss you all. lol. Agree!! We need to see more of it! Loved how they were best friends first and there for each other before it ever turned romantic, I thought how Chad talked about not letting people know when he was sick resonated as I hate that Willow is keeping it from Michael. It is realistic to just wish things were “ok” and pretend they are to yourself sometimes.

I'm an older man and I have to say is in this interview, you both brought raw content that a lot of men need to see. As a person who is dealing with his own mental health, I am thankful to listen and learn from someone else, the struggles and the process to becoming the best person you can be. Chad, may God continue to work in your life and heal you with constant growth. Maurice, thank you brother for giving us this place to see that we all can benefit from other people's journey into mental health awareness and a place to feel safe in sharing something so personal.

Loved the interview as always great stuff Maurice, but so needed. Chad is amazing as Michael and he’s why I came back to the show. Michael and Willow’s story was so good, so different. It so wasn’t the same with Robert in the scenes and was hard to miss Chad is recent Michael scenes- but hearing how seriously ill he was changes things. Chad being in the hospital with myocarditis sounds incredibly scary and it’s sad to think those who called for him to be replaced never considered the real person affected, no wonder he’s not on social media as much.
Chad’s openness about how that health scare and his breakup changed his mentality was so good and so needed for others to hear. Be present in your relationships, coasting and checking out (video games, etc) are signs that there’s something wrong, the routine is comfortable, but if you’re not growing it’s not good. Chad seems very grounded, but he’s just as susceptible to it as others. Both he and Courtney seem to be on that long journey to accepting themselves, she’s posted similar things, but hope they both can find joy and happiness again. It’s scary to be alone. I hope he can travel again soon.

A growth mindset will serve you well in life and that is what you are describing vs a fixed mindset (when someone feels they have nothing more to learn, it can come across as arrogant). When I started in my career I also learned everything I could from the people who were more experienced. I couldn't get enough. That is how I eventually (30 years later) became a master too. Maurice thank you for this channel. My best friend died a year ago from suicide and she was bi polar. I learned so much from you over the past year, especially in your interviews with Kirstin and Leslie. Thank you. Love you both. Chad you are an amazing young man, and you are prioritizing yourself and your wellbeing. That is the very definition of a growth mindset attitude.
This was awesome, Maurice! Love Chad. What a great interview! Good for him taking time for himself and not jumping right back into a relationship. It will likely make his next relationship, when it DOES happen, so much better for both him and for the other person. Catching up on some of the SOM episodes I haven't seen yet. Love it.
