And seo dan didn’t know that bc when Seungjin was in the hospital he regains consciousness but he told the doctor to tell her that he is dead and since seo dan was so sad she didn’t look at the body. For the funeral they used somebody else’s body (in a coffin)

They literally carried the last few episodes of the show. There was no need to kill SeungJun.
No he needed to die tbh there was only 2 fates for him ( prison or death) since he was constantly living on the run, now looking back the scene with the orphan kids singing to him was foreshadowing his fate.

nah he had no purpose in life, that was his whole character. his redemption was the fact that he picked her and wasn’t selfish in the end even though he could’ve left, it’s good for the show that he died but sad for us viewers

Seo dan's personality is so admirable. She may appear cold-hearted, strong and fierce. But we all know she just chose to be like that. She needed to be like that. Imagine, your first love you chased for years never looked your way and having backstabbing fake friends. She just needed someone to love her entirely. Someone did, to the extent of giving up his life for Seo Dan.
Their story was lovely but if you think about how he was living his life there was no place for him anymore. He was chased by bad guys and was a criminal. He had no place in the society anymore. There were only 2 options for him: to live in prison because even though he changed he couldn't erase the fact that he commited illegal actions; or to live in shadow and continue to hide from people who wanted to kill him, knowing the fact he was using a false identity. Yeah, they loved each other but he would never be a free man. You get me?

It was heartbreaking to see him die but I don’t think injustice was done to seo dan’s character. She was a strong woman and handled herself really well after his death. It showed that love can break you at times but you cannot give up on yourself. I think it was his way of redemption as well. All his life had been spent as a fraud and his last act before his death was noble and brave. Yes, it was sad but not shocking. He had someone who cried for him when he died. There was some foreshadowing regarding that since he that he wouldn’t have any one to mourn if he died in the very same episode. They could’ve been more, it’s true, but I loved seo dan’s character as mature and independent woman.
I loved that it showed how independent a woman can be! I love that Seo Dan picked herself back up and found who she was.

I was sadder when the scene of him dying was on than when anything remotely bad happened between the main couple :( He was a con artist, a scammer with a terrible past, not trustworthy and manipulative at times, and she was cold, reserved, distant and in love with someone who didn't love her back. But they somehow clashed together and what's the most painful to me is that they both CHANGED for each other. Such polar opposites. Such different personalities and characters. He finally got the long awaited chance to leave North Korea alive, but he threw the chance away just so he could save her. By the way, that scene when he shoots those thugs is EPIC as fuck! And when he finally gets shot (twice), she runs to him, and he remembers that there is in fact someone who will cry and mourn his death, that he isn't alone and abandoned and that scene... Man... It's just so heartbreaking.. Because the time wasn't on their side, and they had so much potential. I'm a sucker for B couples in kdramas, they're somehow almost always portrayed better than the main ones.
I agree. This couple stole the show. I really began to like the con man with a heart of gold, and I loved it when they became drinking buddies. Seo Dan let her guard down when she was with him. and he opened up about his families past to her. Watching them change for each other was so gratifying. It was old movie logic, that this con man would choose her over his own life and that was his final character arc.

I like this girl ever since i saw her act in ‘jealousy incarnate’, she also plays a badass role there. Not the typical whinny 2nd lead gurl. If u have time check her out in that drama. She’s really a badass there.
She is also in the black knight as the villanous-ish second lead. I saw her for the first time there and loved there.
And 49days too, might be her first drama(or at least the first drama where I knew her)...although I hate her there but she has her reason to be bad so yeah I still like her till now.

As expected, the main couple had the plot armor. The writers gifted them with a happy ending even if there were so many ways it could've ended bad. As a result, they used the 2nd lead couple to add complexity to the plot's conclusion.
For me, the 2nd lead carried the show. I anticipated their scenes more than the main lead. I wouldn't have enjoyed cloy as much if these couple weren't present.
I agree that Seo Dan's character has been bullied. She's a strong independent woman yes, but that doesn't mean she deserves to be ignored by her fiancee for 10 years, and lost someone who finally appreciates her and love her whole-being. I don't think I can forgive the writers for that.

This is literally a masterpiece. Everyone was in love with Yoon Seri and Ri Jeong Hyeok but for me it was always this couple. The only time I cried when watching cloy was for these two. They're the ones who saved the show for me. If it weren't for them I probably wouldn't have liked cloy at all. (It wasn't that it was bad. It just wasn't to my taste) They deserved a better ending

I love them more than the main couple. Seo dan, a strong independent woman who still needs someone to make her feel special, she didn't felt it to captain ri but when alberto came, everything changed. It's just so sad how they chose to end alberto's life when they finally realize that they have each other :(

I don't usually give much attention to second lead couples; but while watching CLOY, I always look forward to Seo-Dan and Seungjun couple scenes. Their storyline was just as good (maybe even better) than the main lead couple. Their scenes were effortlessly cute and romantic, and very much enjoyable to watch. The character development of these two also made me want to see them more.
I'm happy that Seo Dan is finally found her true love but then she lost him in one blink of an eye??? they really deserved so much better :(((

I cried so much bc this looks so real. I felt so bad for Seo Dan and Seong Jun. He was fighting for her love and when he was finally feeling loved he died and Seo Dan again was heart broken.
I keeep on having goosebumps while watching this😭 it brings back all the feels. Their story is just so painful. Seo Dan simply want someone who would give her the love she deserve but when she found that in Gu Seungjun, he was taken away too soon.

Honestly, I root for them more then I do seri and ri. Their love story was so beautiful and so tragic. The romeo and juliet (Sort of) of CLOY (Crash Landing On You). I hate to see my sweet Dan suffer so much, when she didn't deserve this at all. She wanted Ri's love, but he cared about someone else and "did stuff" behind his back (Just saying it from Dans POV). And then our darling Seung-jun comes into the picture, and starts the biggest SHIP IN THE HISTORY OF SHIPS. Dan needed someone to lean on for once, and Seung-jun was their at her back. A bittersweet goodbye leads to a need to protect at all costs. And at Seung-jun's expense.. their love ended tragically. BUT NO! Their love didn't end! Dan will forever love Seung-jun, and I'm sure he still loves her, even after he died. Let me rephrase this then. Their story, ended tragically, but the love lasted forever.

I wish the writers would make a season two or alternative story in a sorta different alternate universe, like a sequel? Where they focus solely on Seo Dan and Seung jun’s pasts as well as a better future for the two of them together!! I liked their story as well as chemistry far more than the main couple’s and I wish Dan and Seung jun got the happily ever after type of ending the two of them deserved... I’d also like to see more of the five North Korean soldier’s lives outside of their job and more of their experiences down South. There was more back story to Man-bok because he supported the past of the main characters, but otherwise the five guys were treated like punching bags for comedy when I feel like the side characters were really the ones bringing the k-drama to life.
at least he could die peacefully knowing someone actually cried for his death but still makes it unfair because of their sad ending 😭💔

Honestly Seungjun is a nice person when you actually think about what he has gone through. Also I thought that he was gonna be like any other Kdrama villain who in the end still try to ruin the main actor but I was so happy he is not like that.

SeungJun dying in the end is very realistic & though it's heartbreaking that Seo Dan never gets to have a happy ending with him, these instances happen in real life and I'm glad the show did this.
My fave scene would be when he gave Ye-rins ring to her & saying "that's the best I could do for now." Imagine in real life when a guy has lost everything he has & still manages to give what he has left to the girl she loves, that's just heartbreaking.
I could also resonate so much with his lines, "I have been trying my best to live a good life. Not knowing where I am headed. But in the end, I'm at the bottom." 😭😭😭
Getting tired to do so much effort in life and nothing you ever wanted is given back to you 🤧😭. I've dated literally bad guys & I'm such a soft heart with them upon knowing they have a good heart inside, it's just that they're just lost on the road they're taking.

you know what.... the way they did the ending scenes actually gave me hope that somehow if they do another season he is still alive, because one he was being tracked, so his death in the ambulance might give to any spy or wriretraps the hint that he was gone, also another point there was no funeral, just memories, and her mother's line that sums their love and that he indeed loves Dan more than his own life to risk everything for her, we only see Dan suffering days after and hugging the jacket, and another point the way she tells the captain of Seungjun death, it's in an indirect way, the man is a soldier he deals with deaths and he wasn't close to the other so she could have said the truth, maybe she couldn't say it herself because it pained her so to admit her loss, or maybe there's something more (I am delulusional here, bear with me kkkkk) but we do know he couldn't stay anymore in North Korea, so just like the main characters found themselves abroad, can't we believe that SeungJun survived and Dan went to study again abroad and they meet halfway there? because we need closure with this, and his death and her resolution of being single to love the sole memories of the past just don't work right? so that's what I like to believe, I highly doubt there will be another season, would be good to make a fanfic out of this but it's not as good as watching a drama, so all we ever have is these theories, still not over this drama, loved the main couple, the side couple, the other characters, it was an amazing drama that pulled off pretty good, but SeungJun deserved better and Dan too, they were the underated ones, true love that found each other in sole moments in time and it was ever ephemeral.......
Actually the development of the characters hints you about the ending. He couldn't be free because of family issues but seo dan come and liberates him . Still he has no right place in the world because his actions would haunt him and seo dan eventually. Seo dan was excepcionally good but she needed emotional approbation she thought ri was it , then alberto , but at the end she got her aprobation and set her free (someone loved her the way she was ) thats why she was happy at the ending. Of course are kdrama heart would love them happy ever after , but realistically this drama hits it.

Seo Dan suffered the most according to me. Her fiancee didn't love her and she waited for so many years for her marriage. When she slowly starting getting over her fiancee, she met Seung Jun and fell in love with him. When she gave him a chance, he died. WTF! I felt so bad for them. The second couple were a lot better than the main one. I am not saying this because of their story, they were actually very cute and made my heart flutter. I wanted to see more scenes of them but the writer gave them soo fewer scenes. Like in an episode of 1 hour 20 minutes, they had only 10-15 minutes. Isn't it too less?
And ya, I agree with this thing that not every couple has a happy ending. Life is very ruthless and anything can happen.
I gotta be honest, I was so impressed by Seung Joon (as a character) that I did not realize for two years he is Kim Jung-Hyun...😅

They did Seo Dan dirty man. I ddnt expect the way they ended Seung Jun and Seo Dan. I liked them more than the leads.
The ending of their love story really hurts and I am more affected by them than the main couple, but am i the only one who was satisfied by the ending? Like yes they deserve more, but the writer chose to be different and not be like other kdramas. Nevertheless, i really love their characters, they added so much value to the drama.
As much as i wanted a happy ending for them, i found this ending worthwhile.
Realistically, life is not always sunshine and roses. Sometimes we don't get what we want in life. We have to stay strong and keep moving.
I know there are large number of people who live a life full of happiness and love but there is also a section who were madly in love but due to circumstances they couldn't make it to the end together. These people never fall in love again. For them, the precious memories they shared with their loved ones keep them alive and give them strength to continue with their life until they meet again in a different world.
I really hoped than seungjun will live at the end somehow with a ridiculous explanation. But it never happened
