It’s great to see someone from The Netherlands appreciate our wee Subway in Glasgow. I’ve been on the Amsterdam Metro on my last visit to Amsterdam. It may not look it but the cars on the Glasgow Subway are about as old as Amsterdam’s Zilvermeeuw cars (built by Metro-Cammell in Birmingham in 1978-1980) also these were 2nd generation cars. The 1st generation cars were used on the subway from 1896 to 1977 when the Subway closed for refurbishment. The original cars were at first cable hauled until 1935 when they were converted to electric power.
As a Geordie I loved the fact the 70s Modernisation Motor cars retained their Metro-Cammell builders footplates (that were removed on the Tyne and Wear Metro fleet). Strangely, the Subway trailer cars lost their "Hunslet-TPL" footplates in the 00s.
Are you still in the uk? If so please do Manchester Metrolink (Tram) Also when you're in Glasgow don't forget to film the trains (scotrail). Glasgow has actually got the biggest Suburban Rail systen behind London in the uk
@alastairorr6318 Yeah, no one is breaking on 3rd generation stock trains. And also, the 2nd generation tube stock trains have been scrapped in June 2024. Also, the new Glasgow Subway has been delivered for the 3rd generation tube stock trains have entered service in December 2023.
Not a chance plan's have been sitting on Irish rail desk for Last 40 yrs for railway line tp navan and airport..get some other than this government and maybe so in 2 decades 🤔 look at our new hospital dearest in world airport terminal 2 massive overspend port tunnel m50 a joke need I go on
In actual fact, the existing trains can be driverless too. That sometimes happens once the system has shut down for the night. Normally, the driver only has to close the window and press 2 buttons. Apart from the doors, the rest is usually automated.
@@RailagonBloxStudios Expanding the system should have happened years ago, but geological restrictions would make it way too expensive. I couldn't agree more about access.

The video will release on 4 July
A 43 year old Glasgow Subway 1980 tube stock train and soon to be replaced. 👍
The Brand New Glasgow Subway trains will enter service on Monday December 11th, 2023
Have fully entered service, zero legacy trains left. All but 3 legacy trains have not broken up.
@@alastairorr6318 Yes, you're right.

Schattige metro's en stations!
Those tiny trains do accelerate very fast
Slightly slower than old ones. Takes 28 minutes to go right round the loop in the new trains, 24 minutes in the old trains.
And Dublin can't have one of these before 2040?
The Glasgow one was built in 1800s but has been refurbished recently
Should have stayed apart of the united kingdom then 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dublin transport system 3rd world 😅

Not a chance Dublin has 3rd world transport compared to Glasgow and Glasgow and Scotland are a lot poorer than Ireland economically
soon been driverless trains
Driverless trains? No. How about make the other 13 stations accessible or expand the system.

Several years yet.
