Imagine, in these times, what you'd pay for Steve Roach to play for YOU, in your own living room, beautiful, one human mind reaching out to enrich the minds and hearts of all those who fly along with him, beautiful....... donate something with that in mind
Supporting Steve Roach on Bandcamp is one of the most fullfilling things I've done. I've been listening for 30 years and my life would be a lot different without his work. steveroachexclusive.bandcamp.com/
I have no clue how I found your music but it is very important to me. I use to run through the Sonora Desert (Casa Grande, AZ) to your music everyday and it was the most spiritual experiences of my life. It is incredible how music can take you back to a place and time. Those mountains blew my mind as a boy from the midwest. Since then I have lived all over the world and I still play your songs everyday before work, on a run, cleaning the yard, etc... Thank you Mr. Roach
I've seen Steve Roach live in-person twice -- and it's a completely different experience each time. One of those concerts was an all-night rave in 1996 in west Baltimore. It was an incredibly intense set -- powerful, tribal, frenetic. I said to him "That set really freaked me out!" He said "You gotta shake the cage, man!" AMEN! This set here is LEGENDARY.
Paul Davis Steve’s Timehouse Live streaming performance was incredible. But to see him perform live is what his music is all about. My first time seeing Steve live was in 1996 in a coffee shop in Santa Monica next to the beach. I didn’t know what to expect. But I knew some of his work. He opened his set blowing his didgeridoo as we sat watching the stage. Steve entered through the front door while performing on his didgeridoo. The 50+ people was blown away after his performance. Since that live show I saw Steve almost every year up to his 2019 Santa Fe show. And of course his Timehouse live stream. Every performance is special. And to see him live you feel the moment with Steve. In the mid 90’s and throughout 2000 I kinda lost touch with my favorite band Tangerine Dream. Their music just wasn’t there like it was in the 70’s and 80’s. I found Steve Roach, Robert Rich and other ambient artist in the mid 90’s of all places in the middle of the Mojave Desert on a radio program called Hearts Of Space. Steve’s Magnificent Void was playing along with other tracks. That was my first Roach purchase. Like Tangerine Dreams Sorcerer soundtrack that was the beginning of my journey with Steve and other artist. After several years of listening to this new electronic/ambient music I found my way back to my all time favorite band Tangerine Dream. During these times with Covid his music brings us back to normality, even if it’s temporary. Music for the mind and soul.
I come back to this performance often. 2 days prior to this my Father passed away. So for me this is a journey of memories that are littered with fragments of words and emotions and interactions with him. Not all of it positive, not all of it negative. This will always be a journey space that stirs up much. I played this performance a couple of months later for a person going through their “ Hero’s Journey” and was their sitter. It was a grand experience for them. As always,Thank You Steve, for all that you are and do…………and the journey continues.
Alongside the massive banks of synthesizer, I wasn't aware that he used so many clay instruments to create sounds. That really brings it down to earth!
I have been a fellow traveler since hearing Dreamtime Return on Hearts of Space in 1988 (I wore out my original cassette!). Steve Roach has been tapping to the source for nearly 4 decades and has never sounded better.
For 10 years I've been falling asleep to your music. My faves are 'Darkest Before Dawn', 'Etheric Imprints', 'Bloodmoon rising 1-4' and many more. They are on the background all the time. It's the soundtrack of this monkey's earthly existence. Thank you very much.
What a genius! To be able to watch Steve's effortless control of his instruments is truly a wonder. So many sound worlds! Electronic crickets, deep piano drenched in reverb, long soothing sounds of synthesizers that feel organic. Echos. And always taking his time to make sure the listener is pulled along on his journey. One drifts on alien rivers, thrilled at the discoveries that lie around each and every bend. Thank you!!
Ahhh I fell in love with Steve Roach's music at a Unity Church in Pensacola, FL in 1986 listening to Structures From Silence. How wonderful to hear the reprise here and now. I'm a Tucsonan now, like Steve. Been here since 1987.
Hey Steve, it was back in 2008/09 when I came across you. Brilliant. If you, as the listener, don't care for this, that's OK. Move on. But for those for us that do, it just "works". Your fans understand.
He just keeps getting better. @55ish minutes, so amazing... haven’t heard stuff like this since Body Electric times in the 90’s
Here in the Netherlands we keep a distance of 1.5 meters in connection with the COVID-19 rules. Concerts are canceled, etc. That is why it is extra special that we can take a walk live with you through your music during the years and that sometimes less than half a meter away and in my own living room. How special is that. Thank you Steve for offering this to us. See you Again in October.
Steve... I can't say how much I appreciate your beautiful, and otherworldly music in my life. It is what I go to sleep by, most often... and gives me a very deep sense of peace. Thanks so much for this plethora of music you've produced.. created, channeled, or however you manage to bring it all down from heaven.
Amazing to see Steve able to just walk around from one room of the Timehouse to the other, creating all this magic. I know the August show was a test to see just how far he could push it, but this show was beyond everything I could have hoped for. I imagine this is what a live show must be like(I still hope to see Steve live one day) in terms of hitting so many different eras of his music. I've been a fan since "Dreamtime Return" and this was just a magical performance for me to watch and enjoy. Thank you, Steve, for a remarkable show and decades of music that has made my time on Earth so much better.
i've only had a very few interactions with Steve, just from online comments really, but what i tried to convey to him was just how much his work affected my life.. I've been listening to him for almost 35 years.. had some absolutely profound moments in nature while his music was playing.. i think he knows how much good he's done for mankind.. just a wonderful, wonderful artist and a wonderful human being..
Structures from Silence is still my favorite. I first purchased the album (vinyl), then the CD. Been listening to it for 30 years. The title cut is amazing of course. I would use Quiet Friend to meditate during my lunch break (when I worked) and would return refreshed. Your music is inspirational. Thank you for many years and moments of joy and relaxation.
Thank you Steve for this incredible concert and allowing us a glimpse of the Timehouse where all the magic happens. I hope you will release this event on hardcopy media.
I'm listening now to this live concert. I've already listened to that beautiful part called "Structures From Silence", in 2:00:00. Good work and amazing performance.
as this was a live streaming event, there is about 5mins of silence at the beginning of the video. nothing is wrong with your rig . . . gentle and reverent performance of some awesome compositions from different periods of Steve's prolific, illustrious career. i was thoroughly enthralled from the moment i tuned in just by the music, what a huge bonus to see the master at work streaming live. chat was a lot of fun, no trolls just true folks. very accessible, high quality stream recording. you should listen.
This was beyond anything I could have asked for. Thank you, Steve, for this deep look into your glow. I traveled with you for the entire journey, sitting beneath the moon in a mountain valley with nothing beyond me but darkness. My first full concert with you and your illustrious fans and I hope to never forget it. Air and Light is my favorite piece of yours btw. 🌌🔭
Sun Through Eyelids Hey Sun, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. will you be there for October 24? I have it in my calendar and I'll do my best to join in
Really a GREAT show and interesting concept to watch you work! Here in Paris it's rainy windy cold so we're jealous of that wonderful AZ weather ! Take care , enjoy life as it is but wishing to be there ;). Cheers
i was up at the Amerind museum the other day and walked one of their trails that took me to a view across the town of Dragoon to the east side of the Dragoon mountains... the play between light and shadow was beautiful... could also see the high point in Dos Cabesas range and all the way out to the Chiricauhuas... and of course much of the expanse of lower surrounding land - the rising foothills and washes... the bajada. i was mystified. yours is the only music i know of that can capture this feeling. from about maybe 1:12:00 to around maybe 1:24:00 is the musical equivalent of that experience. quite amazing
Thank you for sharing with us this incredible piece of work! It is something beyond just "listening" to music, it is feeling the music, how it absorbs your body and mind.
How does this work? I see tweaking of button and wondrous resonance but no correlation. Is it EPR?! Is it pre-recroded? In simple terms, Steve, please explain or link to one. PS. I get resoanace and phase locking - I have published human experiments on it...but this still amazes me! What _are you doing_ ? What's that analog wired box do and you to it? Been following you since HoS and Dreamtime Return.
this is live sculpting - no prerecording, I am performing with all that see you synced off a masterclock or free running passages that are created as the set unfolds. There is weeks of prep, planning and creating of a kind of road map that weaves a combination of composed and improvised "movements" This way of creating and performing live started in 1980 for me has developed into what you see on all my RUclips performances.
Steve.... Your music is such a blessing. I'm going through the hardest, most miserable, confusing breakup I've ever had.. And I come home from work only to face my reality again, that I'm alone, but your music is soothing my heartbreak so profoundly and softly... Allowing me to relax and sleep easier..
Excelente interpretación DREAMTIME RETURN. Mi mente ha viajado 30 años atrás, cuando escuchaba este álbum bajo la noche estrellada. Gracias, Steve, el hombre serio que hace una música para soñar.
Your name reminds me of an interesting concept from my physics class called the Roche limit which is the distance from a blackhole past which there is no return from its gravitational pull
Thanks Steve I finally had a chance to catch up with this concert and it was truly epic. Structures From Silence is without question the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard and I'm so glad that you can still use this space to launch further explorations. Looking forward to the next one but this one will keep me going until then!

Perhaps in my entire life, I would never have the opportunity to see him play live. Thank you for providing us with this moment.
This was so much better than seeing Steve play live. Seeing him live ranges from good to great. This was utterly incredible.
